This is my favorite Jimin song. He wrote the lyrics and contributed with production. Jimin doesn't like this song, bcs it reminds him of when he was in a bad place, but I still can't help but love it. It a painful song.

Yes, this is why I've never seen any cover work. I've seen dance covers that are great, but the pure pain is not there. It's not real like it is when Jimin does it. For me all the other BTS solos could potentially have a successful covers, but Lie is just something else.

This is absolutely my favorite Jimin solo track. It's so beautiful the way the key change indicates the feeling of releasing the truth of his lie and accepting the lie he is living in. The performance absolutely is breathtaking with the lighting mirroring the lie verses the truth in the key change. Lyrics from the chorus ( the release) translate to Caught in a lie Find me when I was pure I can’t be free from this lie Give me back my smile Caught in a lie Pull me from this hell I can’t be free from this pain Save me, I am being punished.

This is a song he said he finds emotionally difficult for him to perform. This is his dark, emotional solo, compared to his bright, solo mv, Serendipity- which happens to be the most adorable, fluffy Jimin.

This performance became phenomenal. My bias is legendary😘

The part where you said it sounds like two different songs, you should watch Classical Musicians react to bts jimin lie, they explain it pretty well. Also the lyrics and the genius of this song is why it will always be one of my faves + it's impossible to not love jimin

❤️Jimin, since age 11 studied, performed, & competed (winning every competition) in hip hop, popping (excels), & street dance, attending the renowned Busan Just Dance Academy, while also attending middle school, where being quite athletic, joined football team, excelled in track, awesome basketball player, great at billiards as well!! He then started studying & ultimately performing contemporary. The media even called Jimin 'The rising star of Busan', after seeing a performance! Jimin, while attending Busan High School of the Arts, aside from studying contemporary dance, also studied ballet and even traditional Korean dance!! Jimin even had an offer to dance overseas, which he turned down because he wanted to be a singer as well since the 2nd grade!! To the dismay of one of his dance instructors, who said, "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!! So Jimin auditioned for BigHit and ultimately was last member to join BTS, only having just a few months being a trainee, as opposed to all other member who were there already for 2-3 yrs!! Hip hop at the beginning? Nope he is a contemporary dancer tru and tru. It is J-hope who won those early awards. Love your long post. Check how it was difficult for him to match the hip hop moves at the beginning because it is not the same muscle memory. Even if he tried on a few hip hop steps at a early ages He is a hard working person so it makes it appear effortless but he was struggling back there with heavy training hours and fasting because of his shirt lifting because when you don’t get many venues you lose easily those abs. I think It would have been less stressful if he had 2 or 3 years before debuting. I think they say he nearly not debut because of these difficulties.

@Miss Heju - Those were statements made out of presumptions!! Some tried to say that being that with his training in contemporary & muscle memory mad it difficult for him to relearn his hip hop roots!! Unbeknownst to many, Jimin was still taking hip hop classes at Just Dance Academy when ever he found the time, even when he was attending Busan High School of the Arts & studying & performing contemporary, because Jimin's first love has always been hip hop!! He loved Chris Brown & Usher while growing up!! Those statements were inaccurate!! JIMIN being the last to join, and having even less then a few months to train and learn not only all the dance moves all the other members already learned, being that everyone else had been a trainee from around 2-3 yrs already, he also needed to learn all the songs as well!! If anything JIMIN was over trained, because the style of 'Kpop hip hop' is a bit different and is more a study in synchronization with the rest of the members and not to stand out but to blend as part of the group!! JIMIN was so good that he still was given the official title of Main Dancer & Lead Vocalist even though he had such a short time to learn everything!!! JIMIN also now has been awarded both the title of Best Dancer in Kpop as well as King of Kpop now for 2 yrs in a row!!

Jimin is an extraordinary perfomer. He embodies his songs. He co produced and wrote Lie, he can do it all. On top of that he has a heart of gold, he's a great role model.

Jimin!! I can feel every emotions he pours in his vocals, he literally lives & breathes the song, he is an angel

jimin is a PERFORMER. he doesn’t just do the routine, he emerges himself in it. he has said multiple times how he always tries to convey the emotion through his dancing, and as you can see he wasn’t quite in a good state mentality during this part of his life.. he delivered the pain through the performance perfectly. for me, the perfect performance is the one where you can feel the message of the song even without knowing the words, which you totally can in every one jimin did. with his expressions, intense moves and strained voice you totally get it: “Pull me from this hell I can’t be free from this pain Save me, I am being punished”

there are two sides to jimin..the light bubbly friendly persona shy and yet extroverted at the same time who will make someone feel at ease, a light for everyone he meets but forgetting to be a light for himself...and then the dark part of him, his own worst critic, his need to be perfect at any cost even to the risk of his health and happiness..starving himself spending 18 hours in a practice room, trying to please everyone because he need to feel loved by everyone because he didn't love himself. he is dark and light and years ago the darkness was taken over but(though he still struggles with it sometimes) he started becoming happier and lighter which you can see through his song promise. You can see he really loves himself now and that's something I think a lot of us can relate to, that struggle to be able to say you love yourself, I know I do.

HE. IS. MESMERIZING. I should watch your reaction but my eyes always find him, but your words and voice is still enough for me to enjoy the reactions. love it. 😍

Jimin is like a chameleon, he befits his dance and vocals based on what is the song is really asking for. He is a great artist and performer you will never get tired of watching him because he will give you different performance everytime. There is something about the way he dance which can lure you and before you know it your eyes are involuntarily looking for him 🥰

There are truly no words to ever describe just how incredible Jimin is. There is no one to me that performs the way he does. He is truly just so impeccably talented and he embodies every note, lyric and I’ve never seen someone truly immerse themselves into their dancing the way he does. No words to describe his talent 😭👏🏻

For me it wasn't spooky and bright.. it was spooky and painfull... the chorus is really painfull (and Jimin delivered that feel very well) and the whole song is heavy and painfull... I love that performance..💜

The ominous feel is my favorite thing about this song. The “heavy and weighted” feel of the moves are reflected perfectly in the lyrics. It’s a pretty dark song, even in the lighter parts. Truly one of Jimin’s best songs.

This is my favorite song out of BTS entire discography and of JIMIN's song! This song hits me deep, it has a special place in my heart.

the chorus sounds happy because it's a lie. he says "caught in a lie" when he appears happy because he really was not at that time.

OMG U FINALLY REACTED TO IT, i was anticipating it so much !! This is one of the most stunning performances ever, his dancing, his charisma, his expressions and the portrayal of the emotions behind the song are just immaculate.

@@JiJiparadise tell me about it. Jimin's solo are always legendary. Filter broke so many records better than title tracks of other artists. It's literally nominated as Song of the Year in Gaon Awards (February). BTS have a hard time winning that, getting nominated is already an honor because Gaon charts can't be swayed by fandom easily. No matter how much fans buy and streams songs, Gaon is all about longetivity of the song and general public's attitude towards the song. Even Friends, his first ever self-produced song and sang with V, is nominated. Jimin is truly Korea's It Boy. So i bet we are not the only ones looking forward to Jimin's solo stage.

This reaction was really great to watch, especially since it's been a year or so since I watched this performance. It's very cool to see it again and compare Jimin's dance and choreographies now compared to then. I agree it feels very weighted down and ominous. It fits with the theme of the Wings album that it was released in, which is about the corruption/loss of innocence when entering adulthood. Also very meaningful to Jimin personally! In various behind the scenes videos from this period we saw that Jimin felt a huge amount of pressure about performing this song and his singing and dancing in general. Feels kind of far away now, four years later, but then, Jimin also continues to have incredibly high standards for himself to this day. I do think he's learned to be kinder to himself when it comes to bad days and mistakes.

Jimin was one of the writers for Lie. My reaction to the choreography is similar to yours. I wonder if he felt the weight of his songwriting and performance responsibilities, almost as a burden, which dragged down the dance interpretation. There are a few rehearsal snippets around. It felt to me as if he felt boxed in by the song. As if the meaning of the song was imprisoning in some way. I also wonder if perhaps he were not one of the songwriters, his performance, and his contribution to the choreography, might not have been more detached from dark things. Almost as if being a songwriter on Lie was like an anchor holding him attached too hard to the ground. 💜🌿💯 Ola! 💯🌿💜

The light elements were part of the Lie. The song is very heavy and different parts of song are a "lie" to give it more emphasis.
