❤️Jimin wrote the lyrics not only by himself, but was the only one to send his very first draft to the producers, and it was approved, so no need for a rewrite! The lie is the lie he keeps telling himself. Always in the past aiming for perfection and by doing so always questioning and second guessing himself! Although deep inside he knows better! The other lie is telling himself, as well as everyone else that everything is alright when it's not!! Jimin has grown and changed, along with the other members since then. All learning to love themselves for who & what they are flaws and all! Jimin is now able to, as his song "Promise" says, shine the light on himself, as well, speaking up more when things bother him and allowing himself to laugh off whenever he makes any kind of mistake, knowing now he can always perfect or improve on what ever needs to be corrected next time!!

If you encounter Mochi Jimin, the usual reaction is to grab the nearest person and demand how someone as adorable as Jimin can exist. Yeah, Lie is incredible, and Jimin is breath-taking, sensual…Yoongi is my bias, but Lie was the first time Jimin completely wrecked me, back in late 2016 - and he is still doing it almost every day, in 2022!! His talent as a performer is unmatched IMO, and he is simply beautiful 🤷‍♂️ 💜💜

50 shades of Jimin 😏 Back in 2018 when my daughter insisted I listen to this Kpop band she just found (her exact words lol) I half listened to BTS mostly to humor her. This song, with its key change and that angelic voice, caught my attention and I had her not only replay it that first time, but made her play it first on her playlist every time after that. I felt it. I didn't know the lyrics but I could FEEL this song. I've been hooked on BTS ever since...

Lie is my favorite Jimin song, especially because of "that note", or rather, that NOOOOOOTTTTEEEE! It is stunning! I also love that he sings this in his lower range, so rich and beautiful to my ears, gives me so many goosebumps!

Jimin is a classically trained dancer and was top student. He's also a black belt in Taekwondo and is a Kendo master having studied it for 8 years. This is why he is so graceful and cam move his body the way he does. There's a video Park Jimins experience in Marshall arts. I think you may be a victim of the Jimin effect. Here's info that some still aren't aware of: ❤️JIMIN, at age 11-12 started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy. Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!! Yep… Lie is the one I prefer from him, so sensual, love the melody, the emotion. And love love how you become speechless 😘 Jimin got you my dear ! The meaning of the song is interesting also, I don’t even understand it all, just that he realizes that he was not himself, caught in a lie. He was very involved in this song. Later on he wrote Promise, kind of answer to it. And it’s beautiful too

I don't know whether you noticed it or not, but this clip you watched was "a stage mix version" which meant it mixed two different stages of Lie performances into one clip. That's why here for a second you mistakenly thought there was two guys (his hair and outfit were different). And if you'd like to see more Jimin blindfolded performance, you might check out their MAMA performance (Jimin danced with Jhope during intro performance). And Jimin also has "Filter", another solo track which is in my opinion is sexier than Lie 🤭

I wouldn't miss his reaction from Filter, not sure if he's ready for it, that would be a "Once you Jim-in you can't Jim-out" effect for sure...

Notice that the key change to major in the chorus is specifically on the word "lie", which to me symbolizes the fact that they have very public lives and any darkness they feel has to be presented with a smile to the public. Especially in the Korean idol space. It makes this song rather genius.

The key change from minor to major is in keeping with the “Lie” theme. According to some classical musicians - it is just not something that is usually done in musical composition. Hence it is such a surprise or a Lie!

The change in the song is the Lie he is singing about as well. Jimin is an amazing performer.

This song and performance is a peace of art. Magnificent classical sound, deep lyrics, amazingly expressive vocals, beautiful and captivating choreography and mesmerizing Jimin. Jimin had full participation in the writing and composition of this masterpiece. Each solo in the Wings album is related to the BU (bangtan Universe) aka the fictional storyline witch run threw MV and albums since "I need you", specially the short films. So the lyrics of Lie fits to the fictional character played by Jimin but it's also related to Jimin himself, the struggles he faced, and we can feel the authentic emotions and pain. The Wings album revolves around the concept of Hermann Hesse’s novel, ‘Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair’s Youth’, a coming of age piece that uses myths and references to follow the journey of a young boy to self-realization. One of the key points of this book is the importance of accepting the “dualism”, the idea of two opposing forces (maybe good and bad or truth vs fake) that are both necessary in life. This idea is portrayed by Jimin’s solo where we see an inner fight between his two sides, his true and insecure self, and this mask that he created to face the world but is swallowing him up (as in the verse : the prey vs the snake) . It’s a complex song where metaphors, vocal and music composition details mix to vignette a cry for help.("caught in a lie" is the only line of the song in a major key (usually associated with happiness), while the rest of the song is in a minor key (usually associated with sadness, mystery, unease). So, the line "caught in a lie" is itself a lie amongst the rest of the song - the "happiness" is a lie) . This song is a portrait of what struggling with your identity, insecurities and inner demons is. RM explained that Jimin used to blame himself for all the failures and shortcomings, having thoughts like “I’m not good enough, I can’t do this” and that he wrote the song reflecting that mentality. Knowing this reflective way of working to deliver an honest history is why this song is so important for so many ARMY. Jimin's journey to self love is so inspiring for a lot of us. Another reactor (a musician and music student) said the major in the chorus is a ‘lie’, matching the lyrics. That has stuck with me every time I listen to this song. My favorite Jimin solo and one of my favorite songs ever. Such beautiful music and an amazing vocal and choreography.

This song is a masterpiece and a very well known in the industry. New idols and trainees trying to cover it, whether it's dancing, or singing, or (rarely) both, is like a right to passage. Although, good covers isn't a common sigh. Therefore, it's considered very brave to try and cover it :D From the absolute amazing production, composition and lyrics, to perfect dance and even more perfect performer. The best way to pay tribute to the song and do its performance justice, if you're not Jimin, is to try and do it your own way. Because it's a known fact that no one can perform (be it singing or dancing) like Jimin. He's a truly remarkable and unmatched artist! ❤️

I’ve heard some interpretations of the song that point out the fact that the song switches to the major when he says “caught in a lie” despite the rest of the song being minor because the major in this song is in and of itself a lie. he is the 2nd best of vocals too.. he was the last to joined the group but he was choosen to be the lead singer, .. he surpassed jin and V instantly . but now they are all almost have same power in singing.. specially jin🥰

@@whaTevero0o that’s what i love about them. they welcome challenges and because they put their heart and mind on it, they actually get good at it. they are not afraid to go out of their comfort zone, always willing to learn and grow. And look how big they have become!

@@whaTevero0o Yes, it astounds me that even though he was brought in as a dancer and debuted with Hobi as main dancer, but that he was able to debut as lead vocalist (Jungkook was main vocalist) with no previous vocal training, and the shortest training period (6 months to 1 year depending on the source). It's a testament to his natural talent and hard work! I love his Lie performance 💜💜💜, his voice, his dancing, the music, the lyrics are just perfect🤩🤩🤩

The song is all in minor except "Caught in a Lie" so it really stands out

I'm so glad you noticed that minor-major-minor transition of the chorus. I saw someone explained how good of an example it is of text painting in music. It's like when he hit the Major note, "he was lying", "it was the lie in the song". And that's just so mind blowing to me, how well produced and how good was the composition of the melody was.

The transition you are talking about is the whole song is in minor key but when he sings the word "lie" it goes into major key tricking your brain. Hence you can say that this song is a lie in itself. This song is a masterpiece by Jimin 💙💙

This song comes from the their wings album which contains ones of the best bts solos and songs as a whole.After this I would recommend u to listen to jungkook's "begin" which is very underrated but is one of the most interesting and intriguing live stages along with the vocals.
