I’m literally learning to longboard in the Olympic park! Really funny seeing a tutorial exactly where I’m going!

Didn’t really explain how to carve lol still liked the video … would like to know more on weight transfer

How do you get a good balance of high speed stability and carving? One setup is carvy but squirrely and the other is stiff but stable. I'd like a good mix of the two.

I'm currently trying hard bushings and soft wheels to get a mix of both

How heavy was the rider and what sort of distance does he get from the GTR? I ask as I think we're about the same weight

Do you have to get the board moving quickly before you start to carve or are you somehow propelling the board forward with the carving motion? In the video its like you don't seem to have to stop to push the board with one leg to get it going - if that makes sense?

you can learn to carve at slower speeds. if you have done snowboarding it's extremely similar. basically, just learn it at slow speeds and learn to do short bursts of carving so like 3-5 push offs and then learn from there. start slow, increase later on.

how do you guys longboard keep going and going? mine starts to lose speed after a few left and right. background, im beginner and i just bought a longboard around the 350usd range. The bushings came with the paris trucks and I have the nut flushed with the kingpin. Also 69x52mm hotspot wheels.

Your wheels might be a bit tight so you can loosen the nuts for each wheel to give the bearings more space. I’d also recommend getting spacers for your bearings if you don’t already have them. They’re little cylinders shapes and are helpful so you don’t have to measure how many times you tighten the nuts on the wheel. People say it’s generally good to get spacers for the health of your bearings. Also you might want to get lubricant for your bearings. If you rode through wet pavement or something it can make your wheels rust and stuff so clean and lubricate your bearings and everything else

@@jywdang thank you ^^ I actually loosen the nut on the wheels a little and it rolls alot nicely. The bearing already came with the spacers but I took the advice of snug too tightly xD

What are those black things on his back truck??

I’m trying to build my own set up, specifically for carving and speed, but I’m having a problem finding the right board. Do you need good flex to carve better? Also, what size is optimal for carving? 40in, 47in, etc.?

size of your board shouldn't matter for carving. at least i would think. i do both snowboarding and long boarding and using different sized boards on both haven't made a difference for me

yes, you need flex for carving, the more flex the harder you can carve

Usually for stability's' sake I run the back truck's bushing slighter tighter than the front still provides great turn in and dive but also keeps the back end from slipping out when just riding normally. But It's all personal preference I recommend tweaking your bushings here and there to your liking

I don't think your board should be cracking when you step on it

Love the board but I don't see how this is a "how to carve" thing...

Heavy, incomprehensible accent + echoey tunnel + bad micophoning (from the camera instead of on you so when the camera backs away your voice sinks in volume) + music that is too loud = blank stare of viewers. If you don't talk with a well known London accent don't use slang and talk slower, otherwise a lot less people will understand you.

Yeah, unless you talk normal don't even try.........I'm from America and had no problem understanding the slang or the accent.

@@alma4938 Well maybe your ears are a lot better than mine. The point is when anyone talks fast and uses local slang others will not understand everything they say. Its just common sense and logic with communication. Slang is very regional as well.
