RetroWave Taku The curves look nice to most people. Most of my family thinks the RX-8 I own is "beutiful" or looks amazing. My grandma even said she would like to own one (or at least the shell, she's not as fond of flames shooting out as I am, that it's "naughty"). I think the good looks killed the RX series (and its reputation). Too many people had no idea what they were buying (like people that want to feel shifting with a CVT transmission...), just that it was pretty. As such, they didn't drive them right and "babied them", which is the worse thing you can do besides running them out of oil or repeadedly driving them off a cliff. Good looks may have been thier downfall... Too many normies wanted them. Keep em' revved!

I love the first and third generation cars . The second generation like the Mitsubishi starion were Porche 924/ 944 knock offs . Would love to see them bring back the rotary engine!

Marc Scordato Funny you should mention those other cars but they were all designed by a freelance car designer. Vtec, Vortec, Voltec, Ecotec and Ecoboost names are similar because they came from one guy. He recently retired and that is part of the reason why Ford dropped it's car lineup in America except for the Mustang.

+787brx8 *Ford was smart enough to shelve its plans for Wankel engine production and continue selling reciprocating engines... Mazda was not so smart, it launched an all Wankel powered line-up just before the OPEC Oil Crisis and went bankrupt... Ford acquired Mazda in a bankruptcy court sale for pennies on the dollar. After reintroducing Ford designed reciprocating engines the company eventually recovered and made record profits while under Ford management.*

doktorbimmer You again!!! First off Mazda just recently announced that they had a fairly large fuel efficiency gain in the rotary engine. Second they plan to use it in their upcoming hybrids due to it's compact size. Thirdly rotaries are great for running large amounts of HHO in which I have made great progress on recently as a vehicle designer. Stop your rotary hating...it's old.. or keep it to yourself.

+787brx8 *Sorry to burst the bubble of your little fantasy world... but Mazda ceased all development of Wankel engines in May 2009. The Wankel is inherently less fuel efficienct and inferior to reciprocating engines in fuel economy, exhaust emissions and reliability. Mazda announced it was only building plug-in electric vehicles in partnership with Denso and Toyota. Mazda and Toyota lost their bid to allow range extenders under the new ZEV regulations, so there is no longer any motivation to produce any kind of range extender electric vehicles.*

The rx7 was always rated higher than the supra in games due to its handling properties, perfect weight distribution, brakes, suspension and cog. Dyno killers arent always fast cars. Rx7 is underated in modern times. Espicially the fd series.
