I don’t think some people appreciate the fact that she stayed on that tiny board. That shit is DIFFICULT you need so much space to energetically dance and she somehow didn’t fall off and utilized the space so well!
@SoulfulTruth

I think she fell on her face a dozen times and got up so quick that we can't see it ... that's the only logical explanation.

When you tap, you usually have to use a board. So we get used to the space!

as someone half struggling through my third semester of taking the same beginning tap class,, the amount of weight shifting and balancing she had to do here to be able to (a) not fall down and (b) make the sounds she wanted to make while (c) staying in time and doing most of it so quickly is just... UGH the TALENT and PRACTICE that takes!!!

Her right foot slides off the board @1:03 but her recovery is immediate and so smooth, I'm not entirely sure it was a slip. I've probably watched this video dozens of times and just caught it. Still an amazing performance.

First I thought tap dancer dances on a board, is to protect the specially made shoes. Now I know it is to protect the floor...
@crazyfrisbee23
7 жыл бұрын
i thought something similar.. she could as well have danced on the floor, it's not that fancy. ok, it's a bit shiny, and in the end it's someones living room. btw i think the board also amplifies the sound of her tap's.
@summerlofland7494

Lee HoLong The board is to protect the hardwood flooring. Also hardwood flooring is very slippery in tap shoes which can make it hard to tap. I'm a tapper and I know how bad it can mess up the floors😬
@SissyFlower5

Tap shoes are very hardy. As a matter of fact, the first thing I do when I get a new pair is scuff them outside on the pavement so they're less slippery. They absolutely *massacre* your floors though.

That is so infuriating, I wish they would at least do a couple of jazz standards every now and again. It would hopefully help expose more people to trad jazz, and would fit a lot better than a lot of the pop songs they try to crowbar a jazz sound into.

i can relate.... and in the same breath i have to quote lalaland: jazz isn't about the past, it's about the future. something else: im a dancer but no tap expert, i wonder if the title is justified, and she is doing older moves at the beginning and newer ones in the end. but anyway, sarah is absolutly amazing. her dancing and energy. and that costume. it ridiculously cool !

The fact it's still going strong after this long is a good sign. Even medieval, Renaissance, and baroque music still has a devout following. No doubt people will be tapping for centuries.

m. kall I'm a bit confused, I have been watching about 30 of their fantastic videos and I never encounter any advertisements. They don't seem to monitize their material so the business model does not seem to include revenue from KZread. They are of course using modern lyrics that they do not own and any monitization would have to be shared. Please correct me if I am wrong!

Flash Gmaing yes so true, but what an ambitious journey this has been and I believe that in the beginning most of the artists appearing in the videos were basically doing it for free.
This lady is one of the very best things about this channel; she is da bomb!
Its 2023 and so happy I just happen to have been looking for something to watch and this channel popped up. I took tap dancing from the age of 4 till I was 18. And I loved every minute of it.While in high school in the 60s we had Amateur Night and the newspaper The Akron Beacon Journal came to cover it. Well I tap danced and a few weeks later boy was I surprised... My picture of me tap dancing was in the Parade/Roto section of the Sunday paper and the writer compared me to "Gypsy" which had just previously been at the theater. Now at 78 I have some good memories of my tap dancing years. Thank You for sharing this story of Tap Dancing with everyone on KZread 💖
This girl is amazing. Thanks for the existence of this group. You makes me happier.
I love how she puts every part of her into the dance. Her whole body, her expression, the way her eyes light up. I CANNOT. She is incredible. And the band? Never a misstep, tbh.
I need a full Calabria cover. Please.

Sarah Reich is made of pure joy and the spirit of dancing!
Saw postmodern jukebox live in concert a couple years back in manchester, she was there tapdancing along to a bunch of the songs and man i was in awe of her (still am!) - really makes you wanna learn to tapdance watching her all happy dancin about, it looks like so much fun :D
Let's just talk about that phenomenal outfit. I want to know the designer so someone can make me one.

You could easily make a replica, or your own variation on the theme, with a pair of black tights and a stretch top cut away as desired. It's really the trim makes it.

my only issue with it is that the pants make her look like a bowlegged cowboy sometimes, the glittery bit really ought to extend a bit further on the insides of the legs
She just makes you want to smile, even if you don't. The background guys ain't half bad either. She owns center stage for sure. And oh man, "UPTOWN FUNK"!!!!! Thanks Postmodern
The perfect rhythm she has doubled with the piano and the instruments literally makes me cry tears of joy whenever I listen. I love this.

I've never seen someone so happy as sarah. It shows in her movements and smile.
1. This is just amazing 2. The fact Sandstorm made an appearance made me smile even more than it already was 3. Her outfit is incredible 4. When did the Saxophone player's orange hat appear? I swear it wasn't there in the beginning...

to answer your question because I also got curious: He popped under the stand right before Sandstorm and popped up with the hat and sunglasses, he started with a black fedora.
PHENOMENAL! She is an exceptional dancer and performer. PMJ is always great too!
The hat tipping didnt go unnoticed by me! I see you, the guy playing the sax @ 0:59
I think the drummer did a great job being understated but adding flavor and feel while keeping time.

SHES AMAZING! And she obviously loves what she does! That makes this so fun to watch!! GO SARAH!
I love it every time Sara Reich is in one of these videos. Thank you for making one where she's in the full spotlight. And also have to say the outfit is fantastic, it reminds me of Michael Jackson in his Rock With You- video.
My favourite PMJ arrangements are the ones with tap dance as part of the percussion. Please keep giving us this great content!
Bravo to Sara Reich and the fabulous musicians! That was fabulous!!
I would like that many more times than once if allowed. I love tap and she's amazing. Thank you so much for this!

Sandstorm in vintage style. Thank you!! More please!!!
THIS WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone was on fire in this one. Love a strong brass section!
Yes! Finally! A full video about tap dancing!
Amazing. I love how she taps to the different rhythms in the genres and also to the lines of I wish. Wow!
I am Truly honored that I have got to see miss Reich perform with PMJ twice. The most recent time was 15 feet away in the good seats. She is a dynamo. The fact that they use tap as an instrument is one of the initial things that hooked me about pmj. To me Sarah was as essential to PMJ's success on KZread, as scott was.
NO WORDS HOW ASTONISHING THIS DAMN THING IS.
What a deliciously lively and talented little bundle of energy!
I could happily spend the rest of my days watching these guys. Fantastic.
That is so awesome! Thanks PMJ, cannot wait to see you again here in Portugal.
2:45 - What's the song? - Darude - Sandstorm - Aw, common, it's an old meme. What's the song? - ...Darude - Sandstorm?
I am glad that some people, like this very talented young woman, has kept it alive. But that being said, I am not surprised it isn't more popular.
I could watch her dance all day long. this video is killer
I can watch her all day just joyous!

I took two years of tap, when I was 5/6 and I can still remember how my feet hurt. but It is wonderful to see and she is so talented. And if nothing else it gave me a chance too dance and instilled a love to dance even to this day.
This whole video was wonderful. I lost my damned mind when you did sandstorm.

I just applaused at my screen
In high school, I danced at my local studio. I was the only teen in the advanced program who was really gung ho about tap. It was my passion. I taught kids from beginners to intermediate. Then I went to college and stopped dancing for two years. And then I found PMJ and, most influentially, Sarah Reich, fell in love all over again, made my own tap floor and started dancing on my own again. And it's probably the best decision I've made in my adult life.
Oh my goodness! She's so great!
A lovely, beautiful woman to watch and admire while she performs to great music. For me, it doesn't get any better.
wow.. she is wow.. unbelievable
