Your skills as a photographer is where I aim to be. Been shooting for 5 years and I’ve grown so much but I have a long way to go to get where I want to be. But I’m loving the journey! Truly inspiring, Hunter! Thank you.

This was a cool video Hunter, I’ve been following you for a while from Scotland- came across your Q3 video, and went from there. I used to shoot Fuji- for weddings, had GFX, XT3’s, and and X100V- and sold the lot two and half years ago. I went Sony for weddings, and picked up a Q2 which I fell in love with, for me. Used it everywhere, but sometimes missed my X100v. Back to 2024- saw the new VI coming out, and decided to go for it, selling my Q2, got lucky and received it launch day. Two weeks later, after trying so hard- I couldn’t get on with it after the Q2. Every time I took a photo, I didn’t like it. Missed my Q2 so much. So, I’m still with Sony A7iv’s, sold the Vi and got a Q3, and couldn’t be happier photography wise. The Q3 is unbelievable and your airbnb video was one of the ones that made me decide just to go for it

Yeah man the Q beats the X100 series hands down, that’s just the bottom line. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your story!

Hey thanks so much for watching. I think you’ll really enjoy the RAW Society book, they did a great job on it and I’m sure they are thankful for your support. I’m not really sure if I just don’t post consistently enough but most people want gear reviews and I only have so much gear to review and my educational videos just don’t do well so it’s hard for me to get the courage to do more of them if that makes sense.

@@hunterhart1 Yeah, I can imagine that it may be a little frustrating to create a new video while knowing that it does not become the recognition it deserves just because it isn’t about the latest gear. I must admit I also watch a lot of gear-videos (GAS is everywhere… ;-)) but I always love it more to watch videos that go above this stupid „this gadget changes everything!“-attitude. And your videos have style, they have a standing, they are entertaining while not superficial. So I hope you keep going - and that at least in some point nearby you get more recognition, in my eyes you definitely deserve it! And to RAW-society: I follow their channel for some time now (also very, very underrated in my eyes) , for me their videos are among the best educational videos about photography I have ever seen. For me it is no coincidence that your photos are published in their book!

@@j.f.1979 I’m all about the gear videos too, don’t get me wrong. Just trying to find balance! Thanks so much for the compliment about RAW Society and I’m not sure why they aren’t larger than they are, makes no sense to me

I agree with everything you said. I had a small budget starting out so I were forced to use minimal gear. Had a zoom 28-70ish and a 50mm prime. I sold my zoom because it confused me and had the prime exclusively for at least 6 months. It made me grow so much and taught me to really push your gear and truly find out what strength and weaknesses that camera & lens combo has. Give yourself time to explore and play around. Later on I could much easier add on other primes and as you I went wider and I think it's really made me grow even more. Also love the 28mm focal length. Switch some gear last month and are really sad to see that Sony E-mount have so few 28mm lenses. If you have and recommendations for E-mount and 28mm I would be happy to take them. Got the Sony 28f2 to try out if that can fill the gap for now. Very interesting to hear your story.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. The 28mm 1.4 by sigma is the king but IDK if you want something so large. I use their lens and love it. You could even go 24mm 1.4 sony or sigma!

Really great stuff. My favorite two pieces of advice: stick with one focal length for a while. Too often photographers are "seeking" better photos by watching YT and seeing what others are shooting with and then chasing that kit... when the real obstacle is themselves and the fact that they don't know the equipment the already have very well! The other advice about looking at what others are shooting locally and then doing the opposite is ALSO awesome. Combine those two pieces of advice with a person getting more education, you just made a photographer out of someone who has a single old 5D Mark II or III and a 35 prime. There are so many stunning images waiting to be made with that combination ALONE... but we all chase the gear. You rock!
