I love how Turkey is the only country in Asia who didn't change their flag after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1923 as seen in this video. The same crescent and moon red flag for more then a 100 years.

Actually, as of 2024, Kyrgyzstan is the latest country to change its flag. The sun's rays were straightened so that it was not mistaken as a sunflower since sunflowers in Kyrgyz culture can signify "a fickle and servile person willing to switch allegiance for personal benefit."

@@FreeStatesofKapuska I don't know. Something about it feels off to me. I don't really like the colors, because they are too saturated for my taste, or at least the red for being so prominent. I don't think the Soviet Union's flag looks bad for example, because there the red is much more pleasing to the eye.

As a Dutch person from the south I think it would be cool if you used the tricolor of red(top), yellow(middle) and green(bottom) during carnival (11till 13 februari) or plainly the dutch Limburgish flag since there are more Limbugish speakers then there are Frisian speakers, yet Frisian is recognized as its own official language while Limburgish is only recognized as a regional language 😔

An explanation could be that Limburgish didn't evolve to far from (Old) Dutch as Afrikaans for example did, that's also why Flemish for example isn't recognised as a language. Frisian on the other hand is arguably older than Old-Dutch and evolved from the Anglo-Frisian language line.

If I were to give any reasons as to why it would be the case I would say that lack of isolation, lack of centralisation and lack of wealth are to be looked at for the main reasons why Limburgish (as it is now conceptionally known as) didn't develop into it's own official language @@Weda01

@@SgtLenor Maybe that's true to some extend, but i don't think there has been any point in history where Limburgish has been a majority language to develop properly as a standardised language unlike Frisian for example which once was spoken by a majority of what now approximately is the coastline of the Netherlands until the Franks (ancestors to Dutch) came in and gradually took the place over. Take with it the issolation Frisians had under the Holy Roman Empire which likely was also a contributor of it not being reduced as much in comparison.
