    Fifth Gear было бы очень интересно, если бы вы указывали покрышки, на которых проводилось контрольное измерение времени круга. Хотя бы указывали, что они одной марки и модели. Спасибо. It would be very interesting if you would indicate the tires on which the lap time control measurement was carried out. At least they indicated that they are of the same make and model. Thanks.

    The producers found a good formula early on and haven't added gimmicky bits to "keep it fresh". I believe many viewers view shows like a comfortable pullover. You come back to wearing it because it's worn in and familiar.

    I feel that Fifth Gear did their own formula and stuck to it. That is why lesser creative shows fall to obscurity. Top Gear went silly for 59 straight minutes with filler crap even with Clarkson, Hammond and May since the early noughties. The reason people hate TG now is because the punchline is coming from a different person. Still love all motoring shows though. That's how I justify my television licence. I divide all the TG and Fifth Gear episodes by 12

    I'd still like to know what the EVO would have done with tires and brakes that were not 20 years old... I know the Yarris GR has PS4s'es, all I can see about the EVO tires is that they were rounded quite a bit. On such a short and technical track the tire choice is critical.

The instructor tried to avoid me red lining it by telling me to shift early, where it wouldn’t be in the turbo’s power band for the next gear. But I managed to delay my up shift enough to keep the turbo spooled on later laps and it was a monster that felt as easy to drive as a Clio!.. The Evo VII actually weighs 1400kg, so that power to weight figure is going to be off. The problem with comparisons like this is the Toyota is going to be a far fresher car & more than likely from the press fleet so it'll be well maintained. The Evo is far older & unless it's been treated to new tyres, brakes, suspension bushes & so on, it's never going to drive quite as well as it should. It's nice to see that the Evo is it's still around because a lot of them aren't in great condition these days. Especially rust.

    Regarding power to weight ratios it's dependent on the situation I'd say, on a tight technical circuit a car that's 150hp and 1000kg would likely beat a car that's 300hp and 2000kg. But on a track with longer straights that 300hp is going to make a difference, mass is less important once the cars in motion on straights.

    I like how some people here are expecting both cars to have the SAME tyres and SAME suspension setup to see the difference between old and new cars. BUT the point is to see how almost everything has progressed in 20 years. Ofcourse the GR Yaris is better lmao. Also if you watch Tiff's old fifth gear video of the Evo 7, he said it had more brake fade than the WRX. Oofie.

  • @pursuitforspeed

    @pursuitforspeed

    Жыл бұрын

    People aren't complaining about brake fade, they're complaining about it having shagged brakes ie warped. What person would take their car to the track in a competitive setting and uses stuffed parts? "Heading to the track today to try and beat my PB. I've got plastic tyres and brakes that are warped like you wouldn't believe. Oh well, shouldn't matter, neither of those things are important". In other words. People don't want things to "be the same". They want the evo to be as close as it was to factory condition, not to be raced around a track with obviously degraded parts. Can't gauge progression if one car has degraded components and one doesn't - not accurately at least. It was flying lap of a short track to compare times - one lap to get things warm (like tyres etc) and one lap at full noise (the flying lap). On this particular track, I don't think brake fade would be an issue after one time attack lap.

    Well the GR Yaris is the only car actually in this race due to one simple reason: You cannot get a Evo 3-4-5-6-7-8-9 that's not modified, crashed or ruined at all. Unless you pay Porsche money. Even if the GR is expensive for a small car at least it exists. And won't kill you quite so much in a car crash, hence the weight vs 90's cars. Still the lightest (new-ish) performance car out there aside from A110's and lotuses.

    I have one GR Yaris with the circuit pack. One good thing (might be bad for some) is that it does not attract any attention. Other drivers ignore you, police ignores you, gold diggers ignore you. Until you drop a gear and slam the gas and you see BMW drivers wondering WTF just happened. And of course, when you get the attention, it's only from other car guys like you. As an owner, there are some minor things I do not like, but none related to the driving experience. For example, there are no parking sensors (only the camera) and with an ass as big as a Kardashian you need to be careful when parking. There is no light on the trunk (I installed some small battery powered lights) and some other minor things like that. But driving it is really fun and up to the hype
