Hi Jon, great video mate please keep them coming. I've fished Paste for years and I've had numerous match wins and regularly catch 200lb+ match weights but I've never had any joy fishing Paste over Hemp? I fished Paste on a match last Sunday, fed micros in the margin to start off with and the fish came instantly but backed off within 10 minutes. I'd been loose feeding 4mm hard pellets every minute from the start of the match just over my keepnet's and continued to catch there for the next 2.5 hours. Halfway through the match I'd clicked 40 Carp averaging just over 3lb each so about 130lb. The last 3 hours were grim and I only added another 22 Carp to finish with just over 192lb (3rd on the lake). Maybe on this occasion Hemp would have given me an extra option so I'll definitely try it next week when I visit Swanlands in Doncaster.

Got really obsessed with paste fishing about 8 years ago won a few club matches made all different types of cups and things but it started to take over my fishing so just going to watch you video and see if I was doing it correctly

You have inspired me to try paste over hemp. I have always fished paste over venue pellets before now and often think there are too many fish attracted by them.

I’ve tried the sonubait one to one paste in the same green you use, very easy to make and each pack comes with a paste pot.

slowly getting in to paste fishing now.bit more practice at it I be ok I think.ready for my 3 day over 50s festival at Westwood lakes.my first festival next year in July cannot wait.

Great lake. Grundy is also excellent. Though the bailiff decided to wade into my swim last time I visited. ??? Rushton is full of big roach. I found I was having to feed 6mm pellets, just to get some bait on the bottom for the carp. This was a decade ago, so it may have changed. I've had good results using black pudding as a paste.

Good stuff John use this myself brilliant also mix some sweetcorn in for the visual aspect find it helps in really coloured water. Do you find the floats you're using robust I seem to be smashing floats when using paste. On the pole pot position I always put mine at the end of my top kit and put a cable tie a couple of feet down the kit put the line over it then in the pot. Great video but I’m slightly surprised by the time of year for a video like this. I find paste fishing very hit & miss at this time of year compared with the warmer months when the fish are feeding aggressively.

Whilst temps are high so 15+ degrees paste will work well IMO. I fish paste from June to end of October (temps depending)

You can fish it all year. You might not catch anything though.

Hello Jon, Any limitation about the depth? I am thinking about using paste on a very deep lake (4m+ depth). But I am a bit afraid of shipping out with such a long rig.

Put a cable tie further down your pole. Hook the rig over it then turn your pole to drop it in the water

Hi John, it’s Eddie using my wife’s account. You showed the hook tied direct to your main line. I don’t know what that knot is called but I do use it myself when making hook lengths but how have you done it direct to your main line. Can you possibly do a short video to demonstrate please. Thanks.

The knot you usually use for hooklengths is a knotless knot with eyed hooks. That is impossible to tie on the end of your main line, and awkward even a pole rig, so use a spade end hook and a matchman hooktyer. Try to get the line coming off the bend side of the shank to get the usual self hooking angle. Never use the domhof knot recommended by a lot of KZread videos for spade ends. It's a knot almost designed to cut itself off!

The way you showed us how to use it was very informative and interesting thank you!! Just one question I take it that you don’t use shots down the line on your fig so how do you cock the float?? The weight of the paste will cock the float. When the paste comes off the line, the float will pop up!
