Everything Wrong With True Lies in 17 Minutes or Less

The part where Tom Arnold is protected by the lamp post is hilarious if you acknowledge the following scene where he pats his whole body down and then kisses the pole.

I agree. There are alot of good things about this movie. One is Bill Paxton as car salesman/sleazy fake spy, trying to get some from Arnie's wife Jamie Lee Curtis. While test driving a car, Bill's telling Arnie he's a major babe magnet and telling Jamie he's got alot in common with James Bond (he boasts about his supposed penthouse in NY while actually living in a trailer). 6:04 - 6:16 - I can't believe that this is that same guy who played douchbag bully Chet less than 10 years earlier. Bill Paxton is one talented actor to be able to play 2 characters so different from each other that you'd really believe they are 2 different people if you didn't know from the credits that it's Bill Paxton and hadn't seen any other movies with him in them

The salesman driving the Corvette is probably the *most* realistic part of this movie. My dad has been selling used cars forever and he's always driving them home instead of his own cars. Usually it's whatever is old and needs to be moved, or something that has an issue and needs a code set or just got back from the mechanic and needs a few miles on it to make sure they got it fixed. But yeah, he's taken home Jags, Corvettes, a Hummer and a Landrover, a whole slew of nice pickups, a few BMWs, and a Cadillac every so often.
This movie is perfection. I’m interested to see what u guys found. *presses play

There is nothing in this movie to sin that was not meant to be bad^^ Just do not expect a hard action Arnold flick. Let the fun seep in. And BTW the side quest with Bill Paxton and they taking it up in the end is ABSOLUTELY LEGENDARY!! The subverted expectation when he kills him...but it was just his first impulse he was able to suppress. Just epic. Him getting out of the wet suit with a tuxedo beneath it.... the subtitle telling us he is speaking perfect Arabic even if we can hear he is not... And let's not forget this is one of Eliza Dushkus (playing the daughter) first roles and she will kill it later in Buffy and Dollhouse etc. No, I agree often, but this time I can't. This movie is great and nothing can change that.
CinemaSins points out how Harry and Albert wouldn't be able to talk/hear while flying in an "opening air helicopter" but says nothing about Harry and Dana yelling to each other while in and on a hovering Harrier Jump Jet. Not only would they not hear each other, they would both be in a lot of pain having just blown out their ear drums due to being feet away from 2 Rolls Royce engines blowing air at about 150 decibels.

@@michaelparks3106 and complaining about a movie that has no basis in reality whatsoever is proof of said someone needing something to complain about in order to feel like they accomplished something that justifies that they aren't a complete failure. Putting on the rose tinted glasses when looking at your reflection in the mirror to put it simply.
I remember seeing this movie as a little kid with my mom. One of the best films hands down.

My mom took me to see TRUE GRIT (the original one) after I got braces on my teeth. IIRC, we saw it at Radio City Music Hall. A few years later, her and my dad took me to see BLAZING SADDLES. For them it was the 2nd time, as they laughed so much the first time they missed a lot of the jokes. Now that's funny movie. I still quote lines from it. I am happy to see our moms took us to see great movies.
a lot of the nitpicks on this video could be summed up as "this character is not being a good person", which is an odd direction to go with comedy movies, where characters are rarely good people who do the right thing at all times. Yeah normally it's bad for Harry to do all those things, but it's freakin hilarious to put in a movie,.

And Harry at least had good reasoning for doing so. He wanted to see if his wife still loved him but no he's the misogynist despite his wife being the one who wanted to cheat on him!!!
Thanks for making me require the need to impersonate Arnold saying the word "Blowjob" 😆 LMAO
I’m actually surprised this movie hasn’t been sinned yet they’ve done every other Arnold movie

1:09 Shame that Stormtroopers will forever be remembered for not aiming their shots well at the enemy despite it was revealed that Tarkin specifically ordered them not to kill Luke and his friends so that they escape and lead Death Star to the Rebel base at the moon of Yavin.

Maybe the CIA makes sure stuff doesn't hit the news. Also this was a time when people didn't have cell phone cameras to post on the internet.

It did make the news. Harry's wife was reading about it in the paper at the cafe. The car salesman took credit for it. Like you said, in the 90s, there were no cell phones, and security tapes wouldn't be released to the public, except to identify a suspect. In real life, the CIA operates outside of the US jurisdiction, not within the US. The case would have been a Federal investigation, alongside ATF, once the scale was discovered. Until then, it would have been investigated by the local precinct. Movie has to movie, though. I still enjoy the hell out of this movie after all these years.
Well I see one for Birdman already. The long minimalist hallway...was actually an xray/weapons scanner, as shown in the clip you skipped.
Tapping the phone reminds me of the opening of the first episode of Fraiser! 'You follow her to work, you eavesdrops on her calls, you open her mail... The minute you started those things, the relationship was over! Thank you for your call!'
As an Austrian who has heard Arnold speak in interviews when he visited his home country I can confirm to you: He does *not* speak perfect Austrian. Then again, Austrian isn't even a language, it's a dialect of German - but he doesn't even speak that one perfectly... :P
Yes. Thanks for doing this film Jeremy. One of my favorite films.
Its crazy. I was just wishing y’all would do this movie and here we are. You guys are the best.
The “Gordon Street” bit at the end is priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣 (Props for the Wayne’s World Reference)
True Lies is one of the best arnold movies of all time. Legendary action comedy. A classic.
This movie is incredible, Jeremy. How DARE you!.... .... I mean, he makes some good points but still...
Commenting before watching: this film is SO DUMB, but that's exactly why it's SO GOOD. The machine gun scene is one of the stupidest, most fun scenes ever put to film. Arnie's action comedies are absolute fucking gold.
You really knocked the "sentence" out of the park on this one!!! I'm in tears over this!
This channel would be better named: "Cinema that goes completely over my head"
He says the Simon subplot is pointless but then admits it causes the rest of the plot to continue. *DING*
The scene where Arnie rides through the building on a horse past the band was my favorite part. The noise the trumpet(?) made as the horce raced past had me laughing so hard I needed to use my asthma inhaler. I wish more movies induced thay kond of laighter.
Harry rewinding the cassette to the exact point he needed was noticed be my 8 year old self in 1992
I can't remember what you call the end montage with voice clips, I call this one funny. This one struck me as a better one, with funny and clever juxtapositions and general hilarity. Well done!
Honestly terrified teenager willing to spite someone in the face of certain death regardless if they give them what they want or not is pretty damn realistic to me. Not everyone is a spineless coward, some people can see forward enough to know they're likely dead regardless and hold out for hope of rescue or again, at the very least, spite. I don't think that was an unreasonable scene at all. It's a commonly uncommon trait to have some cohones.
The only thing “wrong” with True Lies is it is not available on digital.
I'll never get tired of this channel and this voice!!!! Thank you for everything you do, keep going like that forever please 😂😍
I lost my shit laughing at "It's uzi, its uzi for fun it's a wonderful toy, it's fun for a girl and a boy..."
I always cracked up in the scene when the leader of the terrorist group was making a big speech, but the battery ran out on their camera. His lackey was too scared to bring it up, so he pretended to record until the leader was done.
Wow, love this goofy film, so happy it's getting sinned
“GET TO THE CHOPPER!!!” In the outtakes had me rollin 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
1:02 - How can you tell that's not Arnold? It's hard to tell either way there. 16:24 - I think he was just surprised to see him flying a fighter jet. He knew Harry would be there but had no idea he could fly one of those. He was expecting to see Harry fly up in da choppah!!! lol 17:08 - "Ahh..yeeah..Gorden street..yeahh...I once knew a girl on Gorden street.." is played over "so far this is not blowing my skirt up, gentlemen" haha, lol
For sure, James Cameron knew how to film Arnie.
I've been waiting and hoping they'd sin this. It just seems like the perfect movie to sin: obviously ludicrous, but still a much-beloved classic.
This should be a short list. After all, True Lies is the greatest action comedy of the 1990s
How DARE YOU sin "Battery, Aziz!" That's one of the most quotable lines from the 90s!
5:30 I believe the “she’s got an ass like a ten year old boy” is the worst part of that scene, not the age it would take the woman being to secrete buttermilk
