9:31 This woulda been a great moment for Pearl to steal his car and drive to the big city to be a star. Problem is, Pearl lacks initiative and wants the limelight to find her, not find it herself. Funnily enough, Maxine does steal a car and seek out the limelight

I chock it up to him having lived through The Great War. Someone coming back from that anything but completely broken would be a miracle. So what we're seeing is his initial shock but the love he has for his girl and the trauma he's been through kept him from running for the hills.

The sister did say he volunteered for the war. Not saying ones who did like brutality but that’s pretty much one of the only things mentioned about him. And Pearl is not the kind of person to hide her psycho for even a short period. He knew to an extent how unwell she is and probably is himself. Edit: Again volunteering for a war in itself is not psychopathic lol. He had the opportunity to dodge the draft and its one of the handful of things mentioned about him. You cannot lie and say that there aren’t people with violent tendencies in law enforcement, high contact sports, gangs, etc etc where it can be acceptable. It does happen and I do think Howard would’ve left her if he was at least a bit sane. Especially walking in on that.

Also can be explained by Pearl being delusional we see it time and time again..with that in mind you can her making up the sound in her head at the movie...which i think is a clever subtle hint about her descent into madness

You should know what to expect when you watch this movie or you might end up disappointed. Well, I expected another horror movie and not a violent drama.

I dont really like Slasher movies but Pearl is the kind of Slasher movie I do like because it's actually good. There's more to it than just getting idiots in a house or whatever and killing them off. There's a great plot, great direction, excellent acting, and plenty of tension. It's not scary or overly gory and thats for the better. Highly recommend to anyone who hasnt seen it.

3:00 Its actually believed that pearl hallucinated throughout the entire film, creating her own (more twisted) version of it, probably due to her insanity, paired with the morphoine she was sipping. Thus the movie didnt have sound, she just hallucinates it
