@@Sam_on_KZread That's fair, my parents were early adopters and got cable internet in 1997. I had been into BBSes since the late 80's and my dad was a telecom engineer so we were probably a little ahead of the curve in some technology. The movie was also probably filmed in 1998, and in those days a matter of months could make a huge difference, society was changing fast.

@@-Ricky_Spanish-By 1999, broadband was becoming available but the vast majority of home internet users. In the US something north of 90% had dialup in 2000 and dialup users peaked in 2001 or 2002. It wasn't until the mid-2000s that broadband became more common than dialup. It is also worth noting that in 1999 only around a third of households had any form of internet.

16:15 If I remember correctly, Finch's lies didn't risk getting anyone into trouble who didn't consent being part of them. They just included whatshername and I think some other nonspecific women. Sherman on the other hand lied about having sex with a specific girl, which could have gotten her into trouble, e.g. if her parents were religious nuts. So I'd say that makes Finchs lies better, because he wasn't trying to look better at the expense of someone else.

Yeah, I made my own comment about it before I saw this, but it's all about consent (and pre-arranged compensation), versus using someone without their permission, especially in a way that could be a real problem, as you said.

Also, a couple more for Stifler's little brother becoming the protagonist of one of the sequels. Been a long time since I watched this, but with 'The Sherminator', I think the key difference is he decided on his own to lie about having sex with that particular gal. Basically, he decided, without her consent, to use her name to inflate his reputation at her expense. The other guy at least paid for a girl to spread rumours about his ability; a mutually beneficial partnership that both parties agreed to.

I've been watching too many of these. Last night I watched "The Little Things" and couldn't stop counting the sins! So many! I would LOVE it if you did an episode on that to see your input, and I'm curious if you'd catch the big one I noticed! Now, to continue watching too many of these :D

I am super confused. Why even sin a movie like this if your entire script is going to be "we are so evolved now, people were so fucked up and stupid so long ago"?
