I remember one film critic when reviewing this movie saying something like: "It's as if Soderbergh, Clooney, and crew decided to throw a party, but forgot to invite the audience." I don't know why, but I always found that description funny.

This was the only movie I ever walked out of and, demanded my money back. As most sequels are, OK let's face it all sequels are cr#$p this movie was a pure let down. It was just so freaking bad. My dad was so embarrassed. Lol. Miss my dad.

In fairness, you don't watch Ocean's 12 to watch a movie. You watch it to see Clooney and Pitt and Damon hang out with each other and to wish you were cool enough to hang out with them. That's all it is. And it works perfectly well for that purpose.

I actually love these three movies. I love the slice of life mixed with heist type movies.

Sin 106: They covered this in the movie. Museums allow replicas to be displayed instead of the original sometimes. No need to check it.

The best part of that entire scene, to me, has always been when Matt Damon finally tries to say something and messes it up. George Clooney literally just stares at him without so much as a blink for a good number of seconds. I've seen the movie multiple times and still laugh at that. Just the way he looks at Linus, plus the fact he never blinks. So hilarious.

I actually like that the Basher rap thing hadn't come up because it's pretty realistic to how we often have no idea what someone's dream actually is and will only find out if they come into a lot of money and get to realize it.

I think I'm definitely in the minority, because after 2 viewings I really liked and enjoyed this movie. It's my boy Soderbergh using a different filmmaking style for this one, and the jokes are so random and awkward. I always crack up when Linus is speaking to the group, and he says something and snaps (fingers) like twice, and without a beat, all the guys (offscreen, making it so funny to me) start snapping to tease him. haha it's so silly, but I love it.

What bothers me about the scene at 17:19 is that at the end you can see that there is enough space behind all the statues to walk around and at the same time avoid the lasers. So why not go along there instead of twisting yourself

When he jumped on the statue it did show a laser hitting the back of it suggesting they were on that side as well. Small detail most ppl wouldn't catch so yeah its still ridiculous I mean straight up motion detecting alarm systems that would detect anything in the room anywhere existed in 2004. The idea pointed lasers moving in a random patter is ridiculous but hey it's fun.

Laser work by throwing a laser beam form an emitter witch it's received by a receptor... if the flow is ever interrupted by ANYTHING, the alarm goes... but if there are not clearlly ANY receivers! You COULD argue that the flor has camouflaged receivers... but if the laser is constantlly moving, so should the receibers... and we clearlly see the lasers hitting a statue... nah; it makes no sense in any way or shape

One of the problems with these movies is they hold entire conversations where the people on the team are lying to each other in order to lie to the audience. These aren't conversations with double meanings that you understand once the correct context is know (e.g. in The Prestige). There's no indication they're being watched or bugged. They just make plans, have arguments over those plans, and then enact those plans knowing full well they're supposed to fail in order to get to the twist ending.

About the Night Fox dodging the lasers, they were indeed random, but the point is, he's so damn athletic that he just dodged them out of instinct. SIN OFF!

The premise exists because someone pitched an original story titled Honor Among Thieves, iirc. Mysterious cat burglar (or Fox burglar?) extorts a direct competition out of pride to prove he's the best. For better or for worse, indeed, it was probably a more secure investment to rewrite that story as an O11 sequel.

Okay, so, two errors there on the affirmations (even if they were made to be jokes): 1-The 1st movie makes it clear, through Tess' fight with Danny, that Danny "only steals from people who can get back from it", so he'd not go out of his way to harm someone just for a heist. In fact, the 3rd movie goes out of his way since the beginning of the planning stage that the "V.U.P." would get his "Susan B anthony" (a compensation) for all the suffering the crew had to make him go through as part of the plan. 2-I think you misunderstood the final shot with Reuben when Toulour appears. Toulour didn't "join Danny's gang", he was there independent from them to steal from Benedict (probably to 'prove he can do it better than Danny's crew'), which is why Reuben was saying "if you get targeted, it won't be us". And as the 3rd movie showed, Toulour was once again outsmarted, because he wound up being hired by Benedict to try to cheat Danny's crew from the diamonds (probably Benedict threatened him and Toulour was a lot less resilient)

Yeah, it's a character choice. Just smoking or fidgeting with a ring, something to distinguish the character and keep them from just standing there, reciting dialogue. Other actors have done it.

Actually it is Brad Pitt's fault. He was the one who chose to do the eating thing because he decided that Rusty was so busy that he wouldn't have time to eat full meals and instead would be snacking all the time. Soderbergh liked it and went along with it.

I watched this a couple weeks ago and kept thinking that CinemaSins could tear it up. Glad he got on it.

17:05 the entire point of the art he is using (capoeira) is to respond to and avoid your opponent's movements during play. It is actually ideal for doing exactly what he did with it: dealing with random laser patterns. Although the visible laser thing is another argument entirely. You got him on that one.

As for these movies, he says it was to showcase that they are always on the move, and have to grab meals as they go, so they don't really have time to sit and eat.

Bernie was really sick during the shoot. He had a condition called sarcodosis which affected his lungs. Clooney reportedly insisted to the studio that Bernie be involved and it's rumoured that he was a guarantor on the insurance so that Bernie could stay in the role. I think that's why his screen time is limited

I love how upset he got when he said, "Seriously what the f*** is up with Brad Pitt's eating?" And its true bc in this film and all the others I cant not notice that now lmao. I agree what one of the other commenters said on here, maybe it's his only time to eat in the studio

In TV Tropes, it's explained that the reason why Brad Pitt ate all the time during these films is that Pitt thought Rusty would never have the time to sit down and have a proper meal. So it's kinda method acting? As it adds to Rusty's lax personality.

This is so cleverly dismantled. And I do like you acknowledging at least some of the awesomeness of The Laser Dance Song scene. Well done.

A prime example of a movie where you're watching a bunch of stars go on a paid vacation and not really make a movie. Even Brad Pitt has admitted to this for this movie. It's a movie that was more fun to make than it is to watch.

Everything was wrong with this movie except that scene where Vincent Cassel uses his capoeira to dodge the lasers.

I'm surprised Jeremy and the rest of the gang have yet to realize that Pitt eats in EVERY film because it's the only time he is ALLOWED to eat so he has to make the best of it!

I read that rusty eats all the time because the character in the original moviewas always smoking a cigarette. Brad Pitt didn't want to smoke non stop and suggested eating in place of being a Choo Choo train.

The Night Fox doesn't join Ocean's 11 at the end. He is going to rob Terry to prove he is better than Danny because the only way to do that is to steal the same thing as with the egg. Not sure how you guys missed that.

As much as I love heist movies, this one is so fucking full of metacommunication, self-references and out of the blue Easter eggs it is ridiculous.

Yes these movies have many, “This works” moments 😂 but I still love all 3 of these movies. Cinema Sins be one of my favorite channels as well as Cinema Wins

"That's how movie lasers work..." I always complain that lasers are COHERENT light, that means unless you are looking directly at it, it shouldn't be visible. But in every film it looks like the security system is Laser Floyd.

Exactly. I decided to suspend my disbelief just because the scene looked really cool, but the fact that they stressed that the lasers were random always annoyed me, especially since Night Fox had to get through there twice.

I literally don't remember anything from this movie but the Vincent Cassel avoids the lazers scene and Julia Roberts pretending to be Julia Roberts. And I know I've watched it.
