I have the same model stang, but in red. I have had the car for 4 years now and its a great reliable practical car for day to day driving. Once you have completed all the work on your stang it will be a great car to own. You said you wanted to try some burnouts/doughnuts how about 'Wheelspin' as a nickname for your stang?

I am always watching Mustang videos and today yours popped up. I had to click on it right away because I have the exact same car. Bought it off the lot in the summer of 2006. Actually coming up on the 15th anniversary and I still love it. I have been doing mods quite a bit in the past 4 years mainly because I also have a truck to drive in case something goes wrong.. I heard you would like to put coilovers on your Mustang. My son (12) and I put them on mine last summer and Wow what a difference. I went with Pedders and they are great. The ride is rougher of course but well worth it. I am currently changing out the thermostat housing for an aluminum one. The plastic housings tend to start leaking. I have 170,000 miles and noticed it was leaving a few drops of fluid when I parked. I went ahead and replaced all of my gaskets also since I was under the hood. That is another great thing about the V6,you have a lot of room to work. Also new throttle body and cold air intake. Tuner is coming next. If you want to know about the other mods let me know. I look forward to your other Mustang videos. Who knows I might make one too.😎

Lol, its crazy how many aftermarket parts are put there! I had some lights that I couldnt find the wiring diagram for and it was a pain. eventually I just tinkered until I got them to work. I learned to go with aftermarket parts people have actual install videos or diagram for to make it easy for me.

I have 2012 Boss 302 black/polished lip rims with 255/40/R19 front and 275/40/R19 rear. These cars benefit greatly from aftermarket suspension the have massive under steer the front end plows when cornering fast. I have some Koni STR.T shocks and struts and 2" lowering springs. Mine grips the corners pretty good now. One of the biggest issues with the V6 is the open differential. I have a limited slip diff and 3:73 gears it's drastically better then stock.

Back in April of this year, I bought my own 2007 v6 Mustang and it's been the best 5 months of my life, especially during 2020 lol. It's my first car but worked hard to earn and find one with 93k miles for $4000. Which is a steal! Granted, it had body work issues and had to get new tires and pads, headlights and replacement of all the fluids and filters...it was a light project car sort of but I got them fixed. Really wanted a GT but every single one I looked at was beaten up, cost too much, and too many miles, next time I want a 2014 GT. The v6 isn't fast, but it's still a fun reliable daily driver that looks good while doing it. Especially with some dual flowmasters👌👌 Something about the car that's just so quaint, simple, yet badass that I can't help gushing about it every chance I get.

I own a 09 V6 Mustang that only had 122,000 miles that needed the front struts replaced. So at 150,000 it’s not surprising that your front struts are shot. As for the noise your trunk key fob makes, that I believe is normal, plus I’ve also found if I use the fob a lot that the trunk doesn’t latch right giving me a “door ajar” light. So I mainly just use the key. I would advise with that amount of miles to check your lower front control arms, stabilizer bar end links, stabilizer bar bracket bushings and lastly your tie rods. BTW if you need front lower control arms American Muscle has Ford Performance Control arms at a great price. I stuck with the stock Y pipe single exhaust but added a 12” stainless resonator with a 4” stainless steel tip and my car sounds awesome.

Fellow S197 owner here. Mine is black. Poor girl spent most her life as a rental. They discarded her. I spent the entire Summer working on her. She then won top 3 in 1974 to Present Ford, in County Car Show. I see you made your initial video about 6 months ago, I hope you are still working on yours. Here is a couple points ... That sound from you Trunk release motor. Open it back up, while you get it to make the noise, grasp the manual emergency trunk release handle, and pull it gently...see, the noise disappears. You can fix it. Be my mindful to occasionally check the area between the Engine compartment and the start of the cockpit. It's where your cabin air filter is located. It's under the cowl. At the bottom towards the engine compartment there is a drain hole on passenger and driver side. The hole has an open valve rubber plug that allow rain water to drain. Only a few pieces of leaves can clog these. If that happens it will soak you cabin filter and begin to mold. Then it can also cause the water to drain into the cockpit. Bed enough, but it will soak your electronics including the very expensive PCM. Good luck keeping your speedometer working. This model is legendary for failing guage servo motors. The fix costs around 500 and requires you to take your dashboard apart and get the whole guage cluster to send away. Instead.... I bought a HUD that plugs into the OBD 2, Amazon has them. I got mine for 30, and it also eliminates having to squint at those crappy guages while doing what I enjoy.... Driving a Mustang. Feel free to contact me.

  • @JazzWolfe

I actually ended up fixing the trunk noise by replacing the motor as it was quite worn down. I've been warned of the area between the engine compartment and cockpit. It seems like the previous owners have been carefull of this as it seems to have been repainted in that area and a screen of some kind added to the drain plug, but this is really good for other SN197 owners to know because it will cause a very expensive fix. oo I didn't know about the speedometer problems, but I'll be sure to keep an eye on it. I might have to contact you for tips on how to fix it if it starts to go! Thank you again for sharing all of this information. It doesn't only help me, but hopefully other SN197 owners as well!

@@JazzWolfe for future readers who may have guages failing. The other option is to with get single after market gauge and pot it in the guage well on your dash. Or Oriellys Auto parts can contact Dorman and arrange to have a full instrument cluster with the newer motors which Ford found did not die prematurely. Cost is 300.00 but you either have to give your old cluster when ordering , or 300.00 extra dollars as a core fee. If you have an understanding parts store they might allow to to swap out the cluster in their parking lot. Jazz Wolfe, you may also benefit by knowing about the Hydraulic Clutch. It was a new technology for Mustang in 2005. They all have a metal mechanical pedal assembly which then has a little plastic plug going into the fire wall and slave cylinder. (Manual Transmission owners) This little plug breaks easily, but ford will only sell the +100.00 assembly. Fix: several sellers on ebay have made these plugs out of Aluminium, which you can replace. Anyone interested in how to fix the dreaded Plastic Thermostat housing with resorting to the expensive metal one? Feel free to give me a shout.

With 150k miles on your Mustang how is the transmission holding up? I think you have an auto tranny and those had issues with the 2nd to 3rd and overdrive servo valves wallowing out to where shifting problems would develop. I have a 2010 V6 convertible I bought back in 2011 but it only has 73k miles and so far all I had to do to it repair wise was replace a blend door motor and the plastic thermostat housing. I also upgraded the brakes to a power stop slotted rotors and ceramic pads. I do all maintenance and repairs myself so it’s not as costly as going to a mechanic.

Why are you doing all this to an 07 v6 ? I have one that sits behind my house I drive it once a month. Your talking about coil overs 😁😁😁 they will cost half of what your car is worth.

While a GT of course would be better. I bought this car for the purpose of being my daily driver and something I can beat on. It’s the first car I’ve ever gotten to mod, so how am I gonna learn if I wait to get a car that fits everyone standards of what should be heavily modded? It’s less about the monetary value of the car and more about the experience.

@@JazzWolfe look I have a 07 v6 premium I ended up putting well over 7 grand into the car. When I paid 5 for it. I have a 2013 boss a 68 gt an that 07 now an I'm sure you'll get there one day put a Ford racing cold air intake up grade your tires. An if you really wanna do something swap the exhaust but other than that from some one who was in your situation once before save your money. Trade it in an get some thing worth modding even if it's a 3.7 I'm laughing because I thought as you did once apon a time.

    Is the 2005 V6 with 146000 miles the same issues as a 07 V6?

JazzWolfe - Don’t listen to him. You are doing just fine, especially if you are using your car as a daily driver. Plus, you will get more enjoyment driving your car, rather than just sitting it behind a house somewhere. These cars are meant to be driven. I owned two of them. Enjoy.

For a daily driver, the v6 is great. If all you are going to do is sit around and listen to it, get the v8.
