    2:00 Fun fact: A fuse is literally a metal wire that was specifically made to burn out if too much energy goes across it. If you ABSOLUTELY need to get a machine working again after the fuse has blown, you can absolutely substitute the fuse with just about anything that conducts electricity. Probably don't do that though. Usually fuses are built into systems for either safety or for preventing damage to equipment.

    The other thing that broke me down was the cliché "I've been turned into a vampire and will soon need to drink human blood" problem is really grating here. He is the worlds leading hematologists in the creation of artificial blood AND he has a well known blood disease that requires at least 3 blood transfusions a day. He is the most well positioned vampire in the history of vampire fiction as far as blood supply is concerned. He can get all the blood he wants without raising an eyebrow. He likely does not even have to up his standard order of blood. Morbius is like a bad Vampire the Masquerade character. If I was their Storyteller I would not allow it.

    7:17 This scene is the most egregious part of the movie for me. First of all, the scene itself is extremely similar to the scene from Batman Begins when Bruce Wayne gets swarmed by bats in the Batcave. But even worse, you couldn’t hear it in the video, but when the bats start swarming around Morbius, the EXACT SAME theme plays as in Batman Begins. They straight up ripped off not just a scene but a whole musical theme from Batman 💀

    As a biologist, ca nwe talk about the fact that keeping those bats in a weird cylinder tube with nothing to settle down on and forcing them to fly around 24/7 is animal abuse and would kill them pretty quickly? Especially vampire bats which are always one meal away from starvation, and flying uses a lot of calories! (As blood contains very little protein, fat, sugars... there's a reason vampire bats are highly social, live in huge colonies, and share blood with fellow vampire bats who didn't find a meal that night by regurgitating some of the blood from their stomach and feeding the starving colony member? And that other bat will remember the kindness and reciprocate if they happen to get a blood meal next night and their benefactor didn't. And to conserve calories, vampire bats actually walk around on all fours a lot and only fly when neccessary!)

    Actually, yeah...the security at hospitals is pretty light depending on the speciality floor. You'd need a code or a key card to have access to certain areas but he's a doctor so he'd most likely have access to most areas of a hospital that he practices at. Floors like ICU or trauma wards are more closely monitored due to the attention need for the care of the patients. When I checked on my mother after a surgery, I could've easily walked into any patient's room as long as no one was around and I walked around like I belonged there. I actually had to get a nurse for a patient who was trying to get out of his bed without help after hip surgery. He'd rung for them and was calling for them out loud but no one was helping him. He asked me to help but I'm not a medical professional and told him I'd run to the desk and drag some back to him. It made him smile and he settled back to wait for me to return with someone. He was grateful though never said so...he winked a "thank you" to me.

    Actually: Given that comic-Morbius in his backstory has quite a death count of innocent people, it wasn‘t entirely unlikely that the kill of the nurse in the hospital was him. Of course, then the cops come out and straight out say: „The mercenaries on the boat… I‘m sure they all were criminals, so they deserved it. But the nurse was an innocent mum.“ Never seen a movie so desperately trying to make sure that everybody knows: HEY! THE PROTAGONIST ONLY KILLED BAD PEOPLE!!!! What a completely pathetic way of sanatizing away the most interesting aspect of the Morbius-character.

    Sure someone already mentioned it but you can 100% replace a fuse with a spring. It's there to maintain a connection until too much power goes through then fail. So it just needs to make a connection to function. Not safe but completely viable. Just like a penny in the old fuse boxes in houses before they used trip switches.

    Lab technician here! This movie confirms that Morbius is a Disney Princess because the way he held that mouse during the injection shows that his mere presence calms it down enough for an injection. If I were to hold a mouse like that (even without injecting anything) I would be IMMEDIATELY bitten and the mouse would run off faster than I could even react to being bitten.

    Repairing a blown fuse with a spring from a ballpoint pen is actually very much possible. It bridges the fuse, as long as the current isn't too high and melts the spring. It can be a temporary fix but the original issue, why the fuse blew in the first place is still an issue. It's pretty much the equivalent of your door lock broke and now you disabled your alarm system because it goes off anytime you walk in through the unlockable door.

    It is obvious what was meant by context, but I just noticed unlockable has two different meanings. Either it is un-lockable (not able to be locked, presumably already unlocked), or unlock-able (able to be unlocked, presumably currently locked). Another interesting thing: "apart" and "a part" are close to being antonyms.

    I am really surprised that no one is irritated by the scene with Lucius/Milo and his self-medication. When Morbelus gets the serum, Dr. Martine has to inject it into his spinal cord after they synthesize it. Milo, on the other hand, grabs some bottle off the table and chugs it. What? Why? How? I see him thinking: Could be the serum, or a deadly virus sample. Oh, what the heck, i'm dying anyway! Later, Dr. Martine gets a drop of Morbelu's blood on her lips and mutates. I think, that escalated quickly. All in all, Milo would have been the better main character, a Redemption arc could have been built here.

The problem is that you haven't fixed the underlying cause as to why the fuse blew in the first place and have caused a possible fire hazard or risk of electrocution or whatever. To be fair, comic book canon Morbius is so all-over the map that making a single movie that makes sense to what he is now that makes sense is d^mn near impossible. His original form is a cheesy living vampire Spider-Man enemy that ended up evolving because of fan love through other Marvel Comics that ended up landing him just over the line to hero from antihero. And, in the comics, he neither transformed instantly nor by his will at the beginning. He was a vampiric take on Jekyll/Hyde.

    To be fair, Morbius killing the mercenaries was actually brought up by one of the cops who said they didn't really care about some random mercenaries dying in international waters. Probably the mercenaries weren't the most upstanding citizens so the police officer didn't mind them disappearing.

    The worst part is that this omitted many, many insane things in this movie. The most overt insanity was a total lack of clarity about when the Vampire's powers/bloodlust kicked in and what affected them. He seems to have become vampireish when he had too much or too little. From the mercenaries' inexplicable presence, behaviour and tactics, to the flying, to the lack of CCTV footage in the NY subway system, to the cops bewildering approach to questioning Martine which would probably see them facing a hefty lawsuit, to Michael behaving as if he is a fugitive before he is, and then forgetting to do so when he is. Even this list just gestures at how cooked the writing/worldbuilding for this movie was. Just a total failure to write with any degree of logic or coherence. I don't think you could point to a single scene that wasn't baffling.

  • @illusion-xiii
    @illusion-xiii Жыл бұрын

    Well, Michael may have murdered more people than Milo by the time they started fighting, but there's a big difference between killing 8 armed mercenaries and killing a helpless nurse and newsstand clerk. Numbers aren't the only thing that matters. Plus, Michael was trying to control his powers/hunger by this point. Milo on the other hand was pretty clearly happy to continue feeding on humans without remorse, so I think it's pretty clear which of them had chosen the darker path. The simple fact that Milo hadn't caught up with the body count doesn't make him the lesser of the two evils.

  • @illusion-xiii

    @@cazza09 Agreed. I was deliberately not using "self defense" in my reasoning, because that invited the easy counter that most of the mercenaries didn't stand a chance, and his real drive was hunger. But for at least the first one, there was a gun in his face, So again, not saying he's a good guy, but I think that we can put him well above Milo on the morality scale.

    6:00 Actually this is why he's considered a pseudo vampire even in comics, because he was self made, rather than being born or turned into one, and it was done initially to avoid magic and supernatural things, it was even done on the heels of the supernatural ban in the comic book industry back in 71, probably as a precaution in case it was flagged. However he would later on go to fight and find enemies with real vampires such as Blade or Dracula.
