Everything Wrong With the Sorcerer's Apprentice in 19 Minutes or Less
Фильм және анимация
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a movie with a sorcerer... and... an apprentice. It's pretty easy to forget to be honest. But we still counted the sins.
Next week: Recent bitey sins and recent stabby sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

@@DJtheBlack-RibbonedRose Nostalgia bias aside. I think this movie is a strong 6/10. A lot of problems with this movie in terms of writing and plot, but Jay Baruchel is perfect casting and even with the weird dialogue, I can enjoy his performance. Horvath is a good villain, but his reasons on becoming evil are just stupid, and a lot of things in this movie are convient in terms of plot. Some thing's just are solved very easily and require no effort from the protagonist to work. Nicolas Cage is great in this as well. I also don't like how Horvath kills his subordinates...Drake Stone, and the young witch could've helped, but Horvath killed both of them. Sun Lok was also a waste, but at least he wasn't killed by Horvath, Dave and Balthazar are responsible for that. The scene where Dave cleans his cave with his brooms is also good and is the homage to the original The Sorcerer's Apprentice from Fantasia. Also the CGI and Special FX were great for 2010, but Sadly this movie released around the same time Inception came out so there was no chance for The Sorcerer's Apprentice, but I still hope for a sequel with better writing obviously, because the writing in Yhe Sorcerer's Apprentice is hilarious bad lmao, but I love how corny it is, but from a critical standpoint, it needs to take itself more seriously to be a good film, but it can be silly at sometimes, so I don't want it to be too silly, but yh this movie could've been better. It's a 10/10 in my heart though. I've rewatched it so many times that I've lost count XD.

I don't care how far removed this movie is from the Disney short. I love it with all my heart & it arguably remains one of the best amongst Disney's live-action remakes, as it actually manages to tell its own story with fun character dynamics and decent effects. Plus the "Participate" speech (along with its later callback) is iconic. 🐺👍✨ It also inspired to me to later use "Secrets" by OneRepublic for a high school English assignment. 😊

Also, thanks to that scene for introducing me to One Republic, that song is one of my all time faves for this reason.

When David brought back Balthazar with lightning, that would be medically incorrect in the sameway medical dramas always use defibrillators. If someones heart stops a shock to it won't help because in the medical field defibrillators are only used for someone with an uneven heart beat, they do this because it acts as a reset. What David should have was, as the wise Dr. Mike has said, CHEST COMPRESSIONS CHEST COMPRESSIONS CHEST COMPRESSIONS. But maybe the lightning had magic healing too.

Love your videos, mate. I would love a video about Gremlins 2.
The biggest sin of this movie, and I can say it before viewing anything, is that it's not Nic Cage playing Harry Dresden like he wanted and instead it's Nic Cage playing Harry Dresden for Disney under a different name.
I literally just rewatched this movie yesterday so this is really surreal wow
I'm upset there wasn't a How To Train Your Dragon reference by Cinema Sins considering the voice actor is riding on an animal.
how is this bad this used to be and still is one of my favorite movies
"Nicolas escapes his cage" - very funny , Thanks. Well done.
I was young when this came out and the one thing I remember is that there was a blooper where they said that the lightning from the hands was sort of real and that they just needed to add a few extra effects for fantasy. And then for the next week I tried to fire lightning balls from under my desk at a kid who used to bully me in school. So before I even watch the video this movie already gets 100000000000000000 sins for reminding me of when I got bullied

Here's a good question for those in the comments section, say you're a villain why would you want to enslave mankind?, don't these villains know what frustrating creatures human beings are, I think any villain that did enslave all of humanity would probably cry and pull their hair out after a week of dealing with us and our drama 🤣

@JR-ju3kj

Indeed. I want to write my comics and instead of wanting to enslave mankind, the villains in the comic/ graphic novel that I'm doing want to wipe out humankind because they see humanity as being THE PROBLEM and they feel that the earth would be better off with them in charge and the ones ruling it. Villains wanting to enslave humanity has been done before and will be repeatedly done, so I want to try something different. It made sense to me that in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, with the event of The Rising, everyone on earth would die.
:57 In Dr. Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme was killed by a stab to the gut. And then perhaps a great fall.
Jay Baruchel is just hiccups, I cannot imagine him as anything else 😂
this reminds me that jay baruchel should get more starring roles outside of animated movies oh and green book is a great movie, you just don't like happiness
Based on D&D logic, it takes about 8 hours for a human wizard to regain all of their spell slots (how many times a wizard can cast a spell, like mana). The reason you don't see them throwing spells everywhere is because of 1. Collateral Damage 2. They don't want to waste powerful spells if they are going to miss 3. Wizards try to preserve their spell slots, as without them, they are useless. So they resort to hand to hand if they begin running low Ik it's not based on D&D, but this could be the reasoning lol
