They're covering the fact that the beef IS the story, while constantly stating that there's absolutely no evidence of it. To be clear I realize conservative media personalities like Tucker Carlson do this all the time by putting up a photo of Biden or Trudeau, and then an unsavoury character that has no connection to them like Geoffrey Epstein -- followed by them saying "we're just asking questions here" to absolve themselves of accountability. Sadly, the inference can have legs of its own and find its way into the zeitgeist. I don't think this is the same thing since the main story IS the speculation that the shooting is connected. That being said they just shouldn't mention it at all -- credit CBC's coverage for pointing out that the press are being irresponsible for pushing this.
