I'm not black, not American and not part of the culture. But even to the people who care about this stuff overseas, what you say about Drake using his blackness as a commodity and leaning on artists for clout or legitimacy is clear to see. Drake cares about image, success and engagement. Kendrick cares about hip hop and the communities who listen to it. The Heart PT.6 was for Drake's ego and his fans. Not Like Us was for the people.

Still saying Kendrick took too long to drop Euphoria tells me you still don’t get it. He took that long on purpose. It was a chess move. It gave Drake confidence that Dot wouldn’t be able to keep up with Drake’s pop star machine. Drake took the bait at every turn. Kendrick was in full control of this beef from start to finish.

kendrick is true definition of boogeyman, not only was he in full control the whole time, he even straight up said "do not go there" multiple times shows he has class also, he does not need dirty tricks to win, he tells u exactly what will happen, it is on u to heed his warning, that's the reason I never clowned cole for apologizing, this beef was something he did not want to be apart of

Kendrick also said to Adonis that HE’S black (when ethnically Drake is more “black” than him) so Kendrick is trying to instill in Drake’s own mostly “white” son to remember the heritage and to respect it so he doesn’t turn out like his father. So it’s crazy to me that people trying to call out Kendrick for being “racist” or problematic towards Drake ethnicity. content creators already eat enough, they ain't starving
The industry is compromised; Kendrick shined the light.
Kendrick is not a hip hop artist...he's a generational artist in general. He's saying, with these "battles", I can dominate every area of the English speaking word.
The lyric where Kendrick said "Don't like 10 he like elevens" Is a reference to Millie B. Brown from Strange things. More like stranger danger😬
The "A MINOOOOOOR" line is so classic
The way Ebro stood on business should be rewarded
If you listen at his delivery from family matters to the heart part 6. His voice lost steam and Kendrick is getting stronger vocally
The sad part is that Drake had been waiting for 10 years for this... and now he has a video with more dislikes than likes and he was getting dragged so badly that people actually think the shooting at his home was staged. Am i the only one that feels like hip-hop media is downplaying the effect this is gonna have on Drake's career? It honestly feels like these media heads are just rolling right past how severe these allegations are..

Ebro's summation was everything - he understands this better than everyone! That's the only useful piece of information in this group discussion, it explains everything. Straight to the facts: 6:47-9:15, 11:43-13:35, 15:49-16:23, 17:59-20:02, 22:25-27:45, 28:09-28:57

I appreciate this conversation as a whole. Great episode yall. All aspects were well covered with a free flow of thought. Well done. If forced to pick a winner thus far, Kendrick Lamar for me. But I’m a fan and appreciate both artists.

Um sorry, no, it absolutely matters what is and is not true. If it doesn’t matter to some of the men who are responding to the discourse, that’s actually deeply concerning, because both of them are making serious accusations against each other about abusing women (and children, in Drake’s case). That’s always going to be more important, and if it’s not more important to you, that’s questionable. I say this as a born and raised hip hop head, who listened to every single diss track pretty much as soon as it dropped. The allegations 1000% matter. The fact that I even have to type that sentence is honestly disturbing 💯

I agree 100% ive heard a lot of podcasts say they dont care which is wildly absurd. I think a lot of people like being lied to or dont care for the truth in this day in age which explains why the people haven’t risen up from their regimes(topic for another conversation) , but others like outselves we want whats real to be spoken and thats why I love Kendrick he doesn’t “pacify me” with a lifestyle he tells me what the world is as well as the human experience. They definitely make wild allegations but id be more likely to believe Kendrick (even if he was lying) over drake because he has lied multiple times before
I heard Not Like Us in three peoples cars, at the store I was in line and somebody was blasting it no headphones, AND I was listening to it in my headphones all in the same day after it dropped… I’m in Maryland!

Simple people took what Kendrick said as him calling Drake not black because he's mixed. Drake continuously proves that he isn't connected to black people on any level beyond superficial. Never speaks on civil issues, makes crazy comments, etc.

Kendrick won the battle but people need to give Drake credit too. He released some fire as well especially with "Family Matters" and didn't bow out like J. Cole citing mental health issues. He was also battling several other artists. I've gained more respect for Drake as a rapper compared to J. Cole over the past few weeks.

My problem is why are ya'll surprised that Drake is a surface level artist with no root? You didn't know this from the beginning?! Why do ya''ll even think these two people can even be in the same category?! On a spiritual level, Drake is elevator music. On an ancestral level, Dark is elevator music. On a commercial level Drake is the best sound you've ever heard and worthy of high recognition and millions of dollars.

This is such a great conversation about music, the black experience, and the way he explained the hip hop and African American culture.
Diss records are about attacking the opponent's CHARACTER!! This means that none of the bars need to be true, but it needs to be things attached to your Brand that can be used against you. Example: Why does Drake sound so surprised people think he has a hidden daughter when 1. he had a hidden son and 2. his Album cover for Certified Lover Boy has 12 pregnant women on it?
