Might have been the case back in the early days, some training to teach deflection shooting, and as we move into WW2 more complex training but it's far more complex these days with the extensive selection of weaponry, Agm's, Sidewinders, Amraams, laser guided bombs and in the case of the A-10 that big ole gun

and this is much older tech than they have in other jets, especially the F-35. they also have for infantry a aort of night-vision devices that brightly outlines objects and makes it much easier to see people. and even amateur camera drones nowdays can identify human in order to automatically follow them, so militaries definitely have systems that very easily identify humans from camera feeds. anti-tank weapons alao visually identify vehicles, and even anti-tank artillery shells from the 90s like smart-155 automatically identify tanks. anti-aircraft weapons like manpads have had programming to differentiate between freindly and enemy aircraft for like 60 years (though I imagine that's been tricky in ukraine - they probably have to use some kind of radio beacons to differentiate russian from ukrainian aircraft, except for the newer russian aircraft that ukraine doesn't have).

HMCS or "Scorpion" makes the A10C-II a situational awareness monster. The best feature is being able to make the HMCS your SOI (sensor of interest) which allows you to mark a SPI (sensor POINT of interest) just by looking at where you want to place it. Also great when sharing SPIs with another aircraft as you can visually see what your wingman is targeting. Shame we abandoned most of the A10s when pulled out of the middle east... That was honestly the part I was most upset about... We left the most combat effective CAS aircraft in the world in the hands of the enemy...

A-10 is the best anti-tank attack jet ever. It is armored to the teeth, its slowness is just beneficial to get better accuracy at convoys, it has a simple design, and the sound 😩 Biny, of you read this, the A-10 is a great attack jet and my fact still stands

It's good for attacking undefended light-skin vehicle convoys but it'll struggle when attacking anything more than that. Its slowness is not a benefit since a fast aircraft can always just slow down while a slow aircraft wouldn't be able to go any faster. And the fact that AD would be able to easily target a slow moving A-10. Hopefully the US wouldn't ever use it against an actual army because t would just be a big coffin for the pilot.

It’s been useful in modern times since the US has mostly been fighting against weaker opponents with less air defense systems and aircraft. Against a modern peer military, the plane will be far less effective, since it can’t outrun interceptors or SAM’s, and since it has to be light enough to fly, it doesn’t have enough armor to take direct hits from bigger weapons. In addition, since it wasn’t designed with stealth in mind, it can be easily detected by enemy radar, giving advanced warning in case of attack. Additionally, before the most recent upgrade package, A10’s lacked many modern sensors and communication systems, making target acquisition a difficult and dangerous job, especially since there’s only a single pilot, who has to simultaneously fly the plane, evade ground fire where they can, and (sometimes) manually find targets using binoculars. These factors have actually given the A10 the highest friendly fire rates of any American vehicle in the Gulf War. With the new upgrade package, this is less of a problem, but it can be expensive and time consuming to upgrade. The main gun will work against light vehicles, but it heavily struggles against even the thinner top armor of modern tanks. It is worth noting that even if it can’t penetrate the armor of a tank, hitting it could damage crucial sensors or weaker components that could make a tank less effective. The problem, though, is that actually hitting an enemy vehicle when they’re moving quickly while deploying smoke and firing back is incredibly hard, not to mention that the gun can only put 50% of its rounds in a 40 foot circle when firing from the sky. During a test trial on the cannon with ideal conditions (stationary targets, clear weather, ample time for the pilot), it didn’t destroy any tanks, and the few disabled ones could be repaired within a few days. This is why most tank kills from the A10 are actually from its missiles, but those missiles could be carried on faster and stealthier aircraft, which makes the A10 not very useful against tanks.

@@PyroFTB Only if using the cannon, and it'd be pretty good in uncontested airspace letting the stealth aircraft take out air defense.

When you know tech is outdated (Other nations have something similar or better) They are willing to show it. 😅
