It was also him saying that he's not all might, and that he can't be the same as all might, but he will be his own thing. Also, the final part of this fight is symmetric to all might vs all for one, with all might ending it with a right punch and then smashing him into the ground, while endeavor ended it hitting noumu with his left and then blasting it upwards, all might with his light blue undertones and endeavor with his dark red and deep black tones, but both with the same shining blue eyes and both fading in a bright yellow flame. And in the end, as you said, all might ended his number one career with his left hand up, and endeavor started his with his right

So the culture festival is subtly the best episode of the arc and here's why: It is the culmination of all the rising action that came before it. This includes the whole first half of the arc, because it all still centers on Eri. She's been saved from her prison, but Overhaul's shadow still looms over her, and he won't be fully defeated until that is gone. But how to make that work after we already got the falling action of the previous episodes? Raise the stakes again. Overhaul is still the main villain though, you can't overshadow him. So bring in a villain that we care more about as a character than as an antagonist. This is a small threat- canceling the event- but made huge by the fact of Eri being at the center of it. To Gentle it's a prank, to Deku it's a little girl's freedom. The stakes aren't nearly as high as the battle with Overhaul, yet it almost feels like they are, because if he fails, Eri will be *crushed.* That. Cannot. Happen. The battle ramps up multiple times. Gentle having the terrain advantage, getting away, then La Brava's power up, culminating in a genuinely touching moment between them before their defeat, and unraveling with a move of pure selflessness and love on Gentle's part. The culture festival is *tremendously* satisfying because these kids- especially Deku and Eri- *earned it.* Every step of the way has been a struggle, and they're finally overcoming it. Deku comes in clutch though, arriving *right* at the last minute, keeping us tense right up until the opening shot of the song, where we see him dancing with everyone else. Then we can finally let out that breath, and immediately lose it again as the absolutely *stunning* visuals and an absolute banger of a song take it away. It reaches its climax with EJ's heartwarming story and coming to terms with her own insecurities, which she breaks out of with the heart-pounding "YEAH I'LL BE!" and singing wide-smiled as the music swells. Then right after this poignant character moment it's magnified and and culminated with the shadow of Overhaul visibly being ripped from Eri as she finally smiles for the first time. Then that gut-punch is screwed in harder with Togata breaking into tears and wishing the so recently and emotionally deceased Night Eye could see her. And did I mention the song is *great?* Every time I think the show couldn't be any better, they pull this off. A culture festival episode as climactic and moving as any of its fights. This anime is truly amazing.

I love how Deku went easy on Gentle. He could see that underneath his selfishness and criminal acts that he was still a genuinely good guy so he gave him an opportunity at redemption. I would love it for Deku to accept Gentle and La Brava as his sidekicks once he gets his own hero agency and once Gentle is done repaying his debt to society.

Come to think of it, with his quirk Gentle would probably make a pretty good rescure worker. He could proof invaluable for getting people out of collapsing buildings. Stuck under a beam? Make it or the ground underneath elastic so the person can slip out. Debris falling from above? Make a shield that bounces it to the sides or back. Someone falling from great height? Make a trampline out of air below them.

Norbert Sattler he and Deku would actually work really well together. Imagine a covert team of Deku and Uraraka with Gentle and La Brava. Uraraka making people float and Gentle bouncing them all for Deku to knock them out in midair and while La Brava is hacking the security system. And for a villain, Deku could team up with Lover Mode Gentle and while Uraraka is using her martial arts.

I wonder to which degree La Brava must love someone to be able to use her quirk. Does it have to be romantic love or would family-like love also suffice? And could she learn to enhance multiple people she cares for at the same time? Because that could be a pretty powerful booster for a tightly-knit team. Sure Deku wouldn't need it, since his problem is having more power than his body can handle, rather than a lack of power... but imagine Uraraka being physically enhanced. It would also make a really smart team. Deku is of course the resident planner, Uraraka is also quite smart and came up with a strategy that pushed even Bakugo to his limits and almost beat him, Gentle did a lot of planning for his "crimes" and always managed to stay ahead of the police and La Brava is a genius hacker. Now I want to see a spinn-off with the four of them opening a hero/detective hybrid agency. :D

Norbert Sattler that would be really cool. Uraraka is already strong enough to knock out a person with one hit and can lift a fence carrying entire boulders with her quirk. Plus she is quite durable, you can’t take on multiple explosions to the face and still keep going if you’re frail. So imagine if La Brava boosted all of that. She was able to make Gentle be able to match fists with Deku and keep up with him when he can bench press a metal beam able to hold up buildings and has moved faster than the eye can see so imagine What Uraraka could do. I do wonder about love. Since she never had proper training, she doesn’t quite know the limits or true strength of her quirk. As we’ve seen, quirks can be not quite what you thought so it may not have to be the one person she romantically loves the most. Maybe it can be multiple people she loves not only romantically but in a familial sense. She’s mainly focused on romantic love because as a kid, that’s all you think of when you hear love. What I love about MHA’s power system is that you don’t get power ups due to sheer luck. You get them through hard work, compromises, and mental changes which leaves endless possibilities, especially for La Brava. Imagine how strong a Lover Mode team of Deku, Uraraka, and Gentle would be. With Deku and Uraraka’s technique, intellect, tenacity and overall combat capabilities along with Gentle and Uraraka’s tricky quirks they would truly make a near unstoppable team.

In the final episode I understood Endeavor saying "that's why" before showing the Todoroky family as him suggesting that he chose his wife with an Ice quirk so their children could control their heat, and therefor remove the weakness of overheating like he has. That's why it also showed Shoto using his flames and ice at the same time at this moment

The thing that got me with Nighteye's death is him reassuring All-Might that he never really had any ill will towards him. Stuff like that, especially on the deathbed just gets to me.

The meaning behind Endeavors words of the nomu being him to me reflect him stating his own actions. As he was obsessed with strength to become the strongest man, number one and higher than All might, but he did it with out purpose and he created beings with multiple quirks ( Shoto and his children). That's why he said you are me and his past self gave him the same scar or one similar to Todoroki's. As he killed his 'past self' fell from the sky and rose again like the Phoenix

Doesn't mean his sins are wiped clean though. However bad he feels about it, the Todoroki family are still deeply wounded by his actions. A scar on his face isn't going to change that. Theory Below And if the Dabi theory is correct, then that means; no matter how hard Endeavor tries to bury his past self and actions, his sins will never stop haunting him. As a matter of extreme possibility, his sins will in fact be what drags him to his grave...or cremation. Official prediction of Dabi's ultimate move: "Black Fire Fist: Hades Burn"

When I saw Izuku’s dream, I held my breath. When it was over, I bolted to my twin’s room and legitimately collapsed on the floor sobbing “oh my god the ending clip!” 😂 I’m so hyped for season 5!

I can’t believe you didn’t add one for Mirio saying “sir?” Mirio was conscious of the fact that Nighteye finally got to see Eri smile, because he used his foresight on him before he died. It was a beautiful subtle touch and it honestly made me cry 😭

Eri didn't forget how to smile... she never knew in the first place. Also an interesting side-fact about La Brava since I don't remember them mentioning it in the anime. She's not a child. She is actually an adult who just happens to be very small. I don't remember the exact age off the top of my head, but she was in her twenties. So don't be fooled by Gentle calling her "girl" before the police and heroes. Though again, he does seem to be quite a bit older than her, so him calling a twenty-something woman a girl isn't entirely inaccurate either. The High End Nomu's voice really reminded me of the Ayakashi from Noragami. Which is awesome. Those voices had such an eeri, unsettling quality to them. I'm a little sad that Endeavour's attacks all stayed in the "normal" yellow to red colours. When he brought down his first Nomi during the Stain arc, his flames turned blue when he pushed them above a certain heat and I loved that. The scene is still absolutely fantastic, but I still miss the temperture-based colour change a little. It would have been awesome... or rather even more awesome if he started out yellow/red, then went into blue and ended with almost white flames for the final attack to add one more visual element of escalation. That's how I imagined it to look in the black and white manga panels. Though considering how much effort they must have already poured into making that scene look so fantastic, I really can't blame them for not putting in that little touch as well.

With the manga panels (save for covers) being in black and white we do not know which colour changes might happen with Endevour's flames mid-battle. Bright blue and bright yellow/orange both look the same in monochromatic. But considering that it was the anime that made his flames turn blue that one time I don't really see how that matters anyway in this case. As for La Brava's and Gentle's ages I just checked the wiki and it says that La Brava was 20 and Gentle 32 when they clashed with Deku.

17:35 I’ve got issues with my step dad as well (and my bio dad but we pretend he doesn’t exist). He tries sometimes to apologize and fix what he messed up, and I kind of appreciate it, but I’ve already accustomed myself to not ever needing him, so every time he tries to push himself back in to my life it just irritates because I don’t know how to act around him. It’s what makes Shouto and his relationship with Endeavor so relatable and personal to me because I can understand how he feels

I think my favourite part of the fight with gentle which goes heavily under appreciated is the fact that Midoriya took on Bakugou’s advice and made his St Louis smash quicker and didn’t have the big lead up like he said after their fight

I always interpreted Endeavor's "That was the reason" line as being in direct reference to his overheating limitation. He knew his body had a limitation, so he strove to have his children be able to work around it with ice. That was why he blinded himself with making Shoto the perfect combination of quirks and abused him and Mama Todoroki and neglected his other children(because they didn't have the perfect half-and-half). He's finally thinking about it with regret and is now trying to make up for it. He did it all for Shot and his other kids, but he became incredibly misguided in his goal. As for his statement about the Nomu being himself, I think he meant that, in relation to what I said above, he used to be obsessed with power and only power. He strove to become stronger than anyone more than anyone else. Once he realised it was impossible for him, he forced it upon Shoto and neglected everything else. The Nomu is the same, blinded by its own urge to test it's power on powerful enemies. Endeavor's comment; "or from another future" means to me that he acknowledges that, had a few recent things not happened, he could still be obsessed with power, or that, despite the fact that he has now changed, he definitely could have been just as likely the same as he ever was. His odds of changing were extremely low, and I think he understands that now.

Not really what I think endeavour meant is that he saw Shoto in Nomu and how both were essentially just quirk experiments, both were created to overthrow All Might, either via getting that #1 spot one day(Shoto) or violently(Nomu) and Endeavour basically sees how he was a monster just like AFO

That part at 54:16: it is that, plus the fact that he was created to have multiple quirks in order to be the strongest, the same way he "created" Todoroki for that purpose. That's why he sees himself on the nomu.

Eri-chan's smile is the most pure and sincere emotion i have ever witnessed... That was the only moment in anime that made me shed a tear of joy, seeing that and thinking that it should be protected no matter what. Izuku and everyone else have a lot of things coming their way but it will be all to protect the hopes and dreams of everyone, including Eri's.

29:45 I love how the animators took the time to think about the way Deku's quick channel's throughout his body, and how when he pushed it to his hand you can almost watch the flow of the electricity around him move to his hand as he's about to fire off an air shot. It's subtle, and it didn't need to be done as it's pretty obvious that he's about to flick his finger, but Bones took the time to show us how Deku sees the power within himself and that's really freaking awesome.

The little kid that bakugo talk to really reminds me of the same kid from class b that's forever messing with class 1a, what if they were siblings?

I loved the part where after Endeavor falls, Aizawa is seen rushing in to inform Todoroki about it. Such a small moment, but it's details like that that matters.

Anime wins: all right take one more win for the notion that perhaps there is even more to his quirk that we could have ever thought Me:laughs in manga reader...you have no idea

Something I’ve see from a “meme” it shows All Might = symbol of peace and Endeavor = symbol of hope. Which is true, because in this time with the old #1 hero being forced (basically) into retirement because he can’t use or his body won’t let him use his quirk. And having Endeavor fighting the best he can on his first real battle as the #1 hero. It shows that even though the world doesn’t have All Might anymore, someone can show that they can take the spot to show there is still hope in the world. I hope that I explained that so everyone can understand what I mean I’m not the best at explaining things. Edit: also can’t wait for the new episodes in english

I would have to say that endeavor is more along the lines of a mixture of the symbol of hope, redemption, and determination because he is fighting through his pain even after he losses an eye even while his body is deteriorating from him overheating, even after all of that he is fighting. He is also the symbol of redemption (maybe not redemption cause what happened can never truly be redeemed, but maybe of self improvement of betterment) because of his past because of his extremely horrible actions and how he is trying to right those wrongs to show to his family that he is trying that he does give a shit (Even if he seemed to fail at showing it because he was blinded by his goal of being number 1) mainly because of the flowers, those showed that he atleast cared about Todoroki's mother enough to remember that they were her favorite even if she mentioned it once. Finally I am gonna just say I agree with the idea of him being the symbol of hope aswell.

I was saying I agreed with his idea of him being a symbol of hope, but I wanted to add that he seems to be more than that, but fair lol

I don’t know about anyone else, but I read the manga, and when it got to the song, I didn’t realize that there wasn’t actually a song in the manga, and I immediately fell in love with it

best moment for me is hands down anytime kaminari was just playing with ojiros tail

I'd also like to add the amazing use of a titlecard, because the last episode "His Start" is only named after the Nomu fight has already ended. I really enjoyed that.

He punched him in the face while trying to convince him to not go on a dangerous rescue mission for Bakugou back in season 3 and literally tried to commit 1st degree murder when his brother got attacked so I think that's just how Iida shows his emotions. Through violence.

That’s why I love him, he is somehow the most calm and responsible AND the most reckless and aggressive at the same time, in everything. He is so many contradictions rolled into one character, from his design (designed like the most typical ‘nerd’ character but also being one of the tallest and buffest) to being both the responsible class president and the first student to actually go looking for a fight with a dangerous homicidal villain, I’ve never seen anything like him and he’s just great

Eri’s smile is so so so adorable I’m telling you no man can’t cry when they see that smile that should have Been a win Counter

also right at the end, it's not the first time the quirk has activated on it's own, it did it at the sports festival to stop midoriya walking out of the ring

Lemme just say that the moment that Eri broke out in a smile during the concert, I started bawling. IMO, the relationship between Eri, Midoriya, and Mirio is my favorite in all of MHA. So absolutely fulfilling.

Endeavour is one of the most human characters in a Shonen manga/anime. I love him so much because he’s grown so much and come so far from the sports festival

I felt that him destroying High End was Endeavor putting to rest his past transgressions, past behavior, and the mistakes he made that he's actively trying to rectify now.

And after reading ahead in the manga, I’d have to agree.

i just wanted to point out (no spoilers). endeavor holds up his right arm, while all might holds up his left arm (in the manga, someone even said that he was copying all might, but another person pointed that out), just a small detail i really liked

Literrally the entire fandom was screaming with joy when eri smiled and kota and his red shoes. it was too adorable.

Forget the ending showing everyone when they're younger. That ending is great because unless you know what you're looking for, it has hints as to what's in the manga Plus the song is great As for One for All... Guess you'll find out in season 5

from the moment he told Shoto he was going to be the best and try to change, I had this uneasy feeling that he would be killed off and the last episode didn't make that feeling better, up until the end

I could make a whole movie about how good episode 23 was.

The reporter saying “there’s no symbol” will always send me to tears or very close to it. Her terrified face and the voice acting result in something that scares me in a way I cannot describe in words.

When the demon of chisaki finally left eri and she smiled and embraced the festival I seriously cried like a child. This show really is unbelievable

Also, 50:49, I think it's a nice touch that his flames, which we've always seen covering him aside from flash backs, Are gone, and you can see just his normal red hair, almost as though his quirk is gone because he's reached his limit. Also liked how Shoto reacted to seeing his father in battle, with that little flicker of fire as he actually panicked, realizing that his father was trying so incredibly hard to be a hero he'd be proud of.

I, generally, never find anime kids likable. They're either overly cutesy which just feels fake or they're annoying and/or bratty. But, Eri? I can't help but tear up when she finally smiles and afterwards, she's just enjoying herself and finally having fun...Bless her little heart!!!😍🥰 And, unlike Kota, she never punched Midoriya in the balls. I do like him, now, but that was a dick(ha, pun) move.

You should added a win for giving midorya a slightly younger look after he saved Eri

Also when endeavor said “that’s the reason” he meant that’s why he went through so much trouble to create todoroki because of his overheating. Too much fire overheats and so ice cools him down and vice versa. Is the ultimate combo and truly covers both weaknesses to creat the perfect version of himself.

honestly that final fight is in one of my top favorite fights I've ever seen

In the end credits when its showing everyone in there room at night, you can see mirio almost crying.

I was slightly miffed when Mirio vs Overhaul wasn't quite as nice as I'd have liked, but good god was that Endeavour fight worth it. Just goes to show why Endeavour is one of my favorite characters. Friendly reminder that even if someone's done something unforgivable, you should still be able to acknowledge when they've made the choice to change for the better. Endeavour was a terrible husband and father. Hell, he might still be both, but the fact that he's trying to change is enough for me to say he's one of my favorites. If we always judged characters by their worst actions, no one would be able to say that they like Vegeta or Hiei or any number of other asshole who are fan favorites.

wanna know what i love most about these? when you talk about the sad parts and we hear you sound like you are holding back tears just like i was when watching it all. idk its a nice touch to me. its genuine

37:18 I watched this episode countless times and never caught that.. Hilarious. I also love how the last intro documents how the rest of the episodes will go via the pictures. Gentle and La Brava's outlines tiptoeing in the background when the music starts(aka sneaking around committing crimes offscreen) All the references to tea throughout the intro, Eri's candy apple being passed around, as well as among many other things from throughout the season. Finally the intro ends with pictures of Hawks and the Todoroki family, who happen to be the main focus of the season's final episode.

Fun fact : you can also spot him towards the end of season 2, when we get the first shots of Dabi and Toga, when Giran talks about "people who'll connect with Stain's ideology and thus join the league"

when eri was eating the candy apple there was a frame that made her look like toga when she thinks of midoriya

Two of my favourite things about the endeavour fight aside from its badassery, animation and music is the symbols of it all: THe bridge building scene gave me chills it's such a good representation of Endeavour's struggle. But secondly, the fact Endeavour raised his right fist. When All Might raised his arm post AFO fight, he raised his left arm, which closed All Might's hero journey. Endeavour raising the other arm represents the start of Endeavours turn being number one, and I love that.
