Best goofy fool female side character ever. On my first watch through she kept blowing my mind everytime she was important AND a joke to the plot. I mean genuinely dumb as a brick but her heart of gold comes in clutch way to often in a non-offensive way as some "power of friendship" moments are. I keep myself from watching this series so I can watch others it gets me so hooked. Main antag is one of my faves like Drasilmeyer from Princess Tutu. If you never watched that one I strongly suggest putting it on your poles until its picked... On the off chance you never saw it yet; I will keep what I say to a minimum so you can watch it as spoiler free as possible... What I can say is if your a fan of the 90's animated Nutcracker movie and love Classic like music then this show is for you. tutu dance battles almost every threat and the story is quite moving for how comedic they try to keep the vibe. Do not worry me mentioning DrasilMeyer as an antagonist changes absolutely nothing about how well he (VA in either english or Japanese) performs his role to keep you guessing as to where Drasilmeyers purpose in the series lies. I mean so many nutty characters its like a mad house... I believe JC Staff is behind it; need to double check because I know its them or studio periotte or one of those big names. 26 episodes with about 108 worth of content in the plot. Fast moving yet graceful like the ballerina theme it has. Honestly expect about 500 wins from it. Tho my fave character in the series is Mr. Cat the chronicle blue balled teacher willing to marry anything out of desperation; His joke is how he trys to use marriage proposals as a punishment only to further his rejection complex. Never known why I found the schitck so funny just do.

14:26 small correction, Kill la Kill didn't have a manga when it came out, this was an 100% original anime. So there's no "mangaka" to praise, but rather... well, the scriptwriters xD

Slight nitpick but at roughly 22:30 what she fired was actually recorders which are closer to clarinets than flutes. Can't help but want to point that out as I love music, still an epic fight scene though :)

Recorders are also the quintessential anime instrument, because nearly every elementary schooler (mostly the girls but sometimes also the boys) in anime has a recorder strapped to the side of their backpack just to show off how cute and childish they are.

10:36 There's an extra layer to the joke here. The symbol we see on the hood of the car means "novice driver" and tends to be worn by people who only just got their licenses. This, plus the spin out immediately after, is essentially Gamagori doing the driving equivalent of "Check out my L33t skills" and then button mashing.

Every time i rewatch this anime i get blown away by the amazing fight animations, my god

Kill la kill is one of my FAVORITE anime! Love this

Having all those people be antagonists in the first half turned protagonists in the second half is inspired, since by fighting against them it presents an opportunity to invest in their characters in a way that you simply couldn't if they were friends right from the get go.

LOVE this anime! Saw the Thumbnail and knew it was an instant win

One thing you almost touched on when mentioning the sound design/music: leitmotifs. Almost every main character has a unique leitmotif, and all of the leitmotifs of the elite four actually evolve as the plot progresses (as well as being related to their pun names)

My new favorite anime and nothing comes close.

My friends and I are 100% convinced that Mako is a Chaos Goddess who adopted Ryuko on a whim and then dedicated herself to keeping the poor girl alive when she realized that Ryuko was sitting on enough rage to end the world if it didn't get some form of direction.

I've heard both, I loved the dub but the sub blew me away much more years later.

Not usually one to comment, but Kill la Kill was an original anime by Trigger. The manga was an adaptation of the anime, not the other way around. So - there wasn't a "mangaka" responsible for the awesome scenes. It was all direct from the studio and the storyboarding.

This is one of my all-time favorite animes. Like, second favorite, even. On a side note, think you'll ever do a wins version of _Bofuri?_

Not really, but it's main design was to increase revenue by putting out more videos more often and it hasn't done that much either. However what it HAS done is rapidly increase my Patreon support, which is on track to make up for any lost ad revenue. All in all a success but for reasons I didn't expect.

You know Gamagori and Mako probably hooked up. Wore her like a sleeve. XD

Yes, in fact it's finished but I'm having a weeks long struggle getting it through Aniplex's extremely OTT automatic claims system. The good news is the second half hasn't been claimed in 5 days now but back to 24 hours for the first half. When both aren't claimed for at least 7 days I'll upload. I've done about 50+ edits on both videos so far -___-

Uh... hate to break it to you... but I think those are recorders, not flutes. Still pretty cool attack though
