The ECU is the failing. They (NIU) tell you to remove the battery over winter to protect the battery from frost damage and discharge - which is like 3-4 months. The ECU goes flat in 24 hours. Useless. You have no alarm, no GPS, no SMS. The bike can be stolen quite easily. It also takes 24hrs to charge the ECU once you plug the main battery in again. I wrote to NIU telling them it would be a brilliant idea to have a passive ‘sleep mode’ built in to the ECU, so that only if the bike is disturbed - like a car alarm. Would it need to wake up and send a report to the user. That way it could give many weeks protection. NIU never got back to me, surprise, surprise. I ‘only’ own two NIUs in my family. NQI Sport and the MQI+ So I do know what I’m talking about.

I agree somewhat. The whole bike alarm system doesnt work if the battery is removed, rendering it useless most of the time, since most ppl take out the batteries to recharge I never had to leave my niu too long without battery, since winter is mild where i live, but that sounds like a big problem with the ecu battery

Just because you own two scooters does obviously not make you understand the electronics inside it. During sleep mode it still needs to power all the sensors in order to realise a change in position or motion. So you suggested them quite literally what they are already doing. No wonder they don't responded you. You could have just feedbacked that the ECU Battery is too small without your half-baked interpretations.

But the problem of all battery operated motor bike doesn't last for long many hours ... It won't last for 8-9 hours of travel without charging again, and it is not advisible for roaming around in wilderness without any worry that u can go back home with enough battery power ...ahahaha..

@@yrejhzsaysonna308 you get what you pay for. An electric scooter costs only somewhat of around a quarter of the costs of an gas powered Scooter. But you can't leave urban and suburban areas. On the other hand, you could use the saved money to rent a bike for a weekend and have fun with that. No need to drive something made for off road through daily traffic just to commute.
