Couple things: You gotta be watching beastars with headphones on. You'll miss a lot of dope sound related stuff otherwise. Also, DO NOT WATCH THIS SHIT DUBBED. Thanks and have fun. -UPDATE The dub was pretty decent. I'd still 100% prefer the Japanese version, but it wouldn't hurt to show a normal person the Dub. ALSO, the fuzzy mic actually just picks up ambient noises (people walking in the background, chatter, ect), my audio friend was pissed that I messed that up.

I agree. I used to be 100% against anime until this stumbled into recommended on Netflix. First anime I ever watched and I watched it in English first. The dub is phenomenal and then watched it again a week later in native. I am not a furry but this may have been one of the best shows I have ever seen. It then inspired me to dip another toe in anime and I then watched one punch man. A little more simple but I am happy beastars opened a door into anime for me!

You have a loooooooot of things to watch, I personally recommend AoT because world building and character developement are great (probably season 4 will blow up my mind) and it evolves season after season adding something every time. Then Hunter x Hunter is also a great shonen along with others of the same genre such as My Hero Academy, Demon Slayer and others. Then if you want something that goes beyond logic watch Gurren Lagann (probably my favourite anime) or Space Dandy. There's also a great thriller named Psycho Pass. Anyway it's all up to your personal taste but hope that I could be helpful😁.

This series was like an acid trip for me but in the best way. I’ll admit that I started watching it as a joke because I only saw it as a “furry show”. I love character orientated plots, and lets be real, so do most people. It’s why Joker was so good among other similar, slightly psychotic character based stories. Yes, Beastars did have a plot, a very basic vague one regarding the gangs and what not. But when it boils down, this show isn’t about that. It’s about the characters. And every single character in this show was developed flawlessly. So many shows these days, especially anime, are so focused on the plot and intense world building that they all end up having the exact same, generic token characters. I love that none of the characters in Beastars fall into the boring ass overdone tropes. Haru isn’t just a small animal who hates being treated like she’s weak, she handles that struggle in a unique way (cough, being a whore cough). And honestly, as much as the whole “do I love her or do I want to eat her” made me uncomfortable, I loved that it made me uncomfortable. Cuz that means it’s doing it’s job. It was thought provoking and interesting. And god damn that intro slaps. I usually despise anime intros. They’re just so long and are literally always the same. But that song, that art style, impressive. Overall, despite me starting this series as a joke, thinking it was nothing more than some Nick and Judy shippers fanfic, I’m glad I gave it a shot. I’m not a massive anime fan, but this didn’t even really feel like an anime fan for me. It was just..art. Anywho that’s my hot take that no one asked for.

I dont really like calling Haru a whore. Sex was the only time she felt she has control of what's going on and feels some sort of relief from her contant troubles in a way. Sex is her escape, and while being promiscuous isn't the best reputation, once I found out why she is the way she is, I just couldn't bring myself to associate her with a whore or a slut. Just saw a really broken, small, frail being.

The main character love interest being a thot actually got me by surprise, thats how you know the show tries to be somewhat real, usually in romance anime you have this vision of the perfect couple that has to battle together against the world. Here the biggest conflict is not an external one but an internal, they are not only different physically but emotionally. Legoshi is just too damn pure and good, Haru has a lot of emotional scars, it actually hurts watching him being so stubborn pursuing something that screams wrong on so many levels.

Also it isnt like in other drama shows, Haru's ''thotness'' doesnt just exist to make the viewer hate her, she actually feels not belittled and ''like a kid'' when someone has sex with her. Its the only time where she can feel ''human'' (or animal) enough, than just being that little bunny that is weak and needs help all the time. Still, she doesnt fit to Legosi. He mostly only loves her, for her scent, she wouldnt understand true love because she never had it, and Legosi would fit more to the other wolf.

@@racon69 But love cannot overcome your instincts. I think Legosi just assumes he is in love with her. Haru has the same problem: since she also never had a proper relationship besides her bed escapades: she thinks she owes legosi sex. Best example was right after legosi freed her from the lions. Both dont know how love works. And while Juno is manipulative, i think she genuinely loves Legosi. Legosi on the other hand, is only after haru because of his instincts. Hes young and naive, thats why he thinks love will overcome it all. It wont.

TBH this only makes sense. People view furry as this different overworldly thing that's about not-humans. But the reality is that furry is just another lens in which to view humanity through. What's appealing about furry, to most furries, is the humanity in the characters. Their fursona means something to them because it represents themselves and the humanity within them. Shows like Zootopia or Disney's Robin Hood resonate because of the deep and compelling human themes that have been given a more entertaining coat of paint. Furry stories ARE human stories, the visuals are just more fantastical. Anthro characters are just more visually interesting and have alot more variety than human ones...which also appeals to people trying to be an individual and stand out. Hell, even in their porn the stuff people like the best is the porn that communicates the emotions of the participants effectively. When you strip away the outer layer that we are used to and left only with the actions and behaviors and emotions with which to judge the characters....all you're left with in the end is the humanity, though in some cases it is more metaphor than direct analogue.

When I get to watch anime, I often feel I only get to see the same anime just with a different title. Its production is innovative for Japanese anime, especially the recording of the voice acting before the animation. I hope this studio gets rewarded for this and it sets a new standard for anime in general.

The little grunts and movements are so good too. Im pretty sure Legoshi saying ''what'' in the hotel on the bed was some of the best voice acting ive heard in a long long time.

I like the fact that this anime isn't like the others, in my experience of watching anime the one thing that bothers me the most is the fact that usually an anime's world seems plastic, not real, the universe spins around the main character and the rest of the world is just irrelevant, so basically all the people who are not related to the main thing are just the same robots that think the same, which is just not how life works. And the same happens with the body language of the characters, since all the animation usually is drawn manually that does not allow the bodies to be realistically animated, like making multiple movements at the same time. And I like beastars because it is just credible. The details and the world is well developed so you can easily believe that the main character is not unique, you believe that the world is huge and complex and the same happens with the characters individually, all the complexity in the movements and the facial expressions makes you immerse in this whole universe that you are slowly experiencing.

If you don’t spend time watching real people, you can’t do this, because you’ve never seen it. Some people spend their lives interested only in themselves. Almost all Japanese animation is produced with hardly any basis taken from observing real people, you know. It’s produced by humans who can’t stand looking at other humans.
