I think most people are undermining Denji's character to just some guy who's horny. Denji is a really deep character who grew up in a not so good environment. He grew up without a father, slept in trash and ate trash, and was treated as trash. All Denji wants is a simple life where he can eat 3 times a day and get the pretty gal. He just wants to live peacefully, he doesn't have a grand goal of becoming hokage, or becoming the no.1 hero, he just wants a normal life, but he can't get that because of Makima who keeps manipulating him cause he doesn't know any better.

And sadly, this isn’t even the worst. There was literally an animator who got sent to the hospital[or passed out?] due to working on Wonder Egg Priority. MAPPA is just the most famous case due to the amount of anime’s their intaking. Luckily, their not as overworked as you think[still probably overworked though] unless it’s AOT. The AOT Staff really need a break but sadly I don’t see it happening.

I blew through the manga in like two days just because I was so enthralled by the way the story was told and how the characters were drawn. Essentially, the creator of Chainsawman ripped the entire trope of a shonen like anime and put it through his own lens- which created something entirely new! I would say that the overall storyline doesn’t really stand out that much, but the characters actions and development are what make the show stand out.

the level of hype around csm is so high that i feel like some amount of disappointment is inevitable, but this is mappa we're talking about so the team will probably be worked half to death to meet people's expectations

With the first 3 episodes out now goddamn is this show a treat.

Works like Chainsaw Man come extremely rarely - I'm hoping this becomes to anime what Parasite was for cinema - awesome for both casual viewers and arthouse/elite/high-standard examiners. Come super rarely and CSM can be consumed without a brain and it can also be consumed with an attention to its stylistic flairs. I'm predicting Top 10 on MAL if it gets a good adaptation (which the trailer suggests). Won't be as arthouse as the manga in high likelihood, but who knows their staff is broken

The thing I love about Chainsaw Man is how visceral the world-building is. How it feels like any character can get a bullet through the head at any point. It's horrifying, yet realistic. The world of Chainsaw Man is bleak and terrible, and yet there are little glimpses of hope that shine through to become even more powerful. I cannot fucking wait to see the beginning of the Katana Man arc animated, holy shit.

One reason given was that if the Chainsaw Devil eats another devil, it breaks the cycle of rebirth for that devil and does something to the fear that caused it. Don't recall any solid examples of this but it was said that it's why there wasn't a Nuke Devil anymore and this was THE reason so many wanted to get a hold of the Chainsaw Devil. Even the Darkness Devil wanted him. A god like, maybe a literal god, devil with unimaginable powers wanted Chainsaw. Darkness Devil with all its power, might have even feared Chainsaw due to being something that could "reset" him much like what we seen happen with the Control Devil.

I love the dynamics between the characters during their conversations and their reactions. The fact that their wacked out personalities are constant, makes me wonder how they would react in each situation.

I feel like another thing that's incredible about chainsaw man is just how good the diologue and humor is. Denji isn't just a funny character in and of himself, he's funny because of how well his character plays off of Power and Aki. Honestly Chainsaw Man has the best dialogue and character chemistry of any manga, except maybe Doro He Doro. It just makes the manga so much fun to read... until it's not.

yeah the comedy is one of my favourite aspects of this manga which is also the reason why power is my favourite character (not the memes , only the dialogue comedy. The memes were really out of place and not good imo). Not the biggest fan of this series but definitely has some good things going for it! I do have many probems with it but hey the anime can probably fix a few of those and its Mappa so we probably can expect some cool ass fight scenes.

I hope they add more vibrant colors in the adaptation. I really enjoyed the trailer but it looks very gray and I think psychedelic colors would really add to the experience. The color use on the covers on the manga is what I mean.

I read Chainsaw man before the hype and it is my 3th favourite manga

idk if its sad that i got a lot of my manga recs from you lmao i used to watch anime and borrow my friends mangas a lot back as a kid and i recently got back into reading mangas my family never bought me any, now im pickin em up again and it brings me back after watching your great videos, seriously, great stuff dude always looking for more of your videos for gold

I'm really excited for this but at the same time it makes me genuinely worried about Mappa staff. These guys are being paid dirt for making this stuff despite all the money Mappa have made recently. This studio is deadass gonna end up like Madhouse in like a year or 2 man.

Mappa doesn't make a ton of money. Sadly, studios are only contractors and too often, whether a show is a massive hit or a flop, they make a pre determined amount. The leeches at the top (production committees and main investors) make the bulk of the money both from the anime success and merchandising. If you want to support a studio and their animators, you need to support their original shows and buy direct merchandise from those studios if they have any (artwork books, etc). Studios do all the heavy lifting for the quality and executive at the top fuck shit up for everyone like always in any creative focused industry. So since quality isn't directly rewarded by wages, studios have to manage the best quality possible to assure future contract while paying dirt to follow the pathetic budget they are given. And animators basically have to work massive quantities to even live since they are paid by frames drawn. If at least animators/studios got a share of profits on the more profitable/popular show they produced once a show passes a certain threshold of profitability, animators would get their shit base rates but from time to time would get bonuses to boost their income

It's been a couple years since my "binging days," but when I tell you I read the entirety of Chainsaw Man in one night.....I was fucked up for the rest of the day. I just kept scrolling until it was over & holy shite. That was two months ago, I cannot wait for the anime to air. The thing for me was the way I was sucked into it. Denji's entire life is comprised of horrible, shitty events, just one after another. Then we're introduced to him & the depravity continues, with a change. There's finally some happiness in his life. He gains friends, experiences types of love (other than Pochi), & essentially finds his family. Yet, horrible things continue to happen to him & those around him. All of the gore & emotional depravity numbs you as you read, the same way Denji has been numbed through the course of his life. So when things come to a head, you are thoroughly feeling what Denji is feeling in those moments, the shock & pain & sadness. It is so insanely cathartic. At least, it was to me. I binged this manga while struggling to crawl out of the deepest depression I've ever experienced & it really struck me how familiar the numbness was & gave me that ice cold feeling around my "heart," in the center of my chest. It made me feel so many emotions, I just....I honestly don't know how to put it into words. It was very exhilarating &, I think, very liberating.

I watched a video where they explained that the over the top gore of chainsaw man was intentional because this "numbness" you talk about makes it easier to digest the characters feelings. The feelings characters experience are intense, and uncomfortable, but the gore and violence is also intense and sometimes uncomfortable, which in turn makes the emotions of the characters not so intense in comparison. This way the reader can very much easier digest and emphasize with the characters emotions because what is happening around them is in literal sense "fucked" and it really aint weird why a character would have those emotions. But when you take a step back and really look at these emotions like denji having to mature and think for himself or aki overcoming the loss of loved ones and his obsession with revenge that... these feelings aren't that different from heavy emotions we normal people sometime also have to experience... which I believe is really beautiful and adore Fujimoto for writing this unique and suprisingly compassionate story.

I put this manga in my reading list after reading Fire Punch. The cover didn't really seem inviting lol, then you recommended reading it and man this is amazing! So hyped, I have high expectations of the anime, hope they won't mess it up

Yeah, it's a weird case where it's not really overhyped but it's just misunderstood. The people coming from JJK or other shonen of that kind are probably not going to get what they expect. But I honestly think people will love the absurdity of Fujimoto's style. It's a breath of fresh air that I think we've been missing for a bit. Nearly every season has shows that would be considered 10/10 if they were released a few years ago but now they're 7/10 just because there is so much else to watch that's as good or better. So I think a complete change of pace like Chainsaw man is going to sit well with a lot of people.

I'm not ready to see the Denji - Power sequence after they get back from hell animated. That was such a character defining moment for both of them and probably my favorite part of the manga.

@@HishamA.N_Comicbroe its an okay read. if you are going to expect high quality shit then you will be severely disappointed. it is not must read but you can pass time with that. the length of arcs are really short. like every arc is going to be 2 episodes. chainsaw man has a bad ending. it has nothing unique. if you are going there for story, then you are going to be disappointed. characters are 2 dimensional so we don't feel sorry for them when they die. the main character is supposed to be cute and stupid and loyal like a dog but it fails in that aspect. the most emotional arc in this manga is the beginning where they show the hardships the protagonist ( i forgot his name, that's how immemorable he is) facing like eating a cigretter for 50 cents. it is heart wrenching. that only proper connection i felt was between his dog and him. the manga tries to cover a wide area but only barely manages to do that. first there is world building (worst failure), story ( average, hard to follow), action ( good but nothing amazing), impact ( nothing ), i didn't even care who died but they seem to come after 2 chapters. honestly it hovers in the edge of average and good for me.

Tbh I haven't read a crap of manga (I've been more of an anime watcher) but holy shit I love Chain Saw Man. It is currently my favorite ongoing manga and I'm not sure if it will ever be topped. So happy to see it getting an anime, I just hope the anime the manga justice and doesn't trash it.

I was a manga reader from the beginning so seeing this animated brings me such joy and I loved how beforehand the CSM community was so incredibly talented. Like every fan made thing I watched was put together with so much effort and love. It feels truly amazing seeing it get even more attention now that its trailers here
