Maybe you should have mentioned that you were talking about Hellsing Ultimate. Just "Hellsing" is another series that came out before and deviated from the manga because the manga wasnt finished when it aired. It didnt have the Nazis, just some organisation called millenium. It also wasnt as good, but had a bad ass opening in Germany.

I'm grateful for Hellsing's existence, as it allowed Hellsing Ultimate to exist, which in turn resulted in us getting the _masterpiece_ that is *Hellsing Ultimate Abridged.*

The major’s speech was incredible it’s like all the anime tropes of giving a speech of morality to fight on while his is pretty much “I love war so please terrorize and kill to your hearts contempt” and it works. It’s nothing complex as a character whose evil just to be evil but yet it works

I feel called out, as the War speech is one of my favourites!! Listening to a villian justify themselves and finding yourself carried along with the charisma of said villian is riveting. I found myself respective ng the big bad in spite of hating him. I mean, much like Thanos after him, he's a villian who deserved to win. He worked unbelievably hard and sacrificed all he was to achieve his goal. His single mindedness lead him down a path to destroy a monster beyond comprehension. At the cost of his very soul and sanity. A monster masquerading as a man, striving to defeat a monster with the form of a man. All justified by the same love of war he shares with Alucard. In short, I feel this speech perfectly fits the character and his motives which enhances the story. Much the same as Maxwell's over the top delivery of Catholic ideology, it added so much more to the experience for me

A lot of the villains on the show are genuinely funny and quite entertaining - the Major chews several metric tons of scenery every second he’s on screen, tthe cat-boy is hilarious and weird, the Valentine twins are…the Valentine twins. They’re all well-developed and fun to watch, but at the same time, you don’t really feel that bad when they die because…well, because they’re fucking Nazis. It’s a tough balance to pull off, but they manage.

I would argue that Hellsing is in fact VERY deep, it's just that you don't have to look into that depth in order to enjoy it. Which is an incredibly difficult balance to manage and it's impressive that Hirano's managed it not just with Hellsing, but the series he made afterwards called Drifters (if you haven't seen it and like Hellsing, go watch it trust me it's amazing). It's even more impressive when you know that he used to create hentai before Hellsing took off (there's even a prototype of hellsing's first chapter that is in fact a hentai). Final fun fact: I met the voice actor for Luke, Patrick Seitz, and he informed me that Jan's voice actor talks just like the character. I hope one day to be able to confirm this myself XD

@@fuq0ff yes, very worth. audience takes perspective from Seras' eyes which Ultimate tried to do as well but forgot about after 3d episode and remembers at the end. however the major flaw it has was the ending arc, the studio literally improvised and its pretty meh, Anderson just dissapears. Disregard dum dum comments like Nadia, og hellsing has the better atmosphere and Yasushi Ishii wrote the type of acid jazz ost that would have the wolf of wall street trying to snort it.

They really should have ended the show with some images next to the credits of what the characters are doing in the events after the show while shine play's in the background. The music is playing as the credits roll and a small screen shows alucard casul and jackal in hand fucking some enemy's of England up . Then we get seras lik brushing her teeth or something she looks in a mirror only to see no reflection but pip is there smiling proudly at her. And as alucard is destroying enemy's he closes his eye's and thinks off Anderson simultaneously integra (back at the mansion) envisions walter. Alucard returns from battle . And comes to a room with integra and seras and kneels down at Integra just as he did when they first met( the "I'm following every foot step . Baby on your own you take a cautious step do you wanna give it up? All i want. is for you to shine . Shine down on me . Shine on this life that's burning out" part of the song plays .) Seras looks smiling . As integra gives him as drink of blood from her finger . The screen goes black as we see the logo. Hellsing ultimate The bird of hermes is my name . Eating my wings to keep myslef tame

Yes ngl, it manages to not be edgy and cringe and also portray The Major's insanity in such a, for lack of a better word, *compelling* manner. The delivery of the speech in EN dub(in which I've watched Hellsing Ultimate), is amazing but that also goes for the whole dub as well, its awesome, and I don't usually watch anime in EN dub and prefer subs. (Hellsing Ultimate Abridged also has a great version of the War speech, funny as fuck) [Edit:- changed "it's" to "it", "me" to "be"and "sppech" present inside the second parenthesis above to "speech", more than 1 month after making the reply lol] [Edit(2):- removed "Abridged" in the first parenthesis, and added "second" in the first edit box]

The speech is awesome and it has a point to establish the Major as a character. Up until then you assume the guy has a grandiose supervillain plan to conquer the world, but then you get that declaration of principles and holy shit, the guy actually doesn't give a damn. He doesn't even want to win, and has no ultimate purpose, he just wants to fuck shit up and die while doing it so.

You see, this is how you do a sponsor right! It just flowed well into scambolis style of content without feeling out of place and uncessecary. I think that might also be because the sponcer was at the end of the video unlike most other KZreadrs, I like how it was eased Into the content without making you have to skip the intro to watch your creators actual video. Therefore, if you like scambolis content, you liked the sponcer because it felt like it WAS apart of his content, not some cash grab you wanna just skip over. From one attention lacking man to another I think that was genius scamboli, I love this man

No for the true experience you have to watch the original to the second to last episode forget about it. Learn there is an ultimate remake watch the first two episodes conclude that they are the same show wait 4 years, rediscover it watch it until episode 8, and then rediscover it another 6 years later.

Although I absolutely love the video I kinda have to disagree on the bad dialogue part... I think that it simply was radically different to the usual one that is presented to us in any other shows. The example you made of how the major loved war was in my perspective a way to show that the antagonist had no reason at all to wage war if not for just the pleasure to see the world burn. That is a key way to show us how the Major thinks and acts and I think it very well did its job.

Did you know that Hellsing was originally a hentai? It was okay.

Geneon had a pretty good track record with dubs and audio quality as a whole. I'd like to say it was because it was a part of Pioneer. A company that made and still makes audio gear of all kinds.

the funniest thing is that Jan Valentine is pretty much IDENTICAL in both the original and the abrdge. Like the only change is the abridge gave him MORE horribly nasty jokes.

Hellsing has been one of my earliest introductions into anime, actually... Going soon after the great works of Myazaki, which at the time I didn't even clock as anime, it was a great release for my teenage angst - brutal, gruesome, absolutely badass characters... Hellsing is most definitely a fond memory for me.

Please watch Gungrave, an extremely underrated show. Kind of the same vibe, chad as well

The 2nd half of gungrave is odd but the last 2 episodes definitely make up for it. Gungrave's great.

problem is that the first episode is the most generic episode ever, and that's a turn off to majority of anime viewers

Gungrave is like the anime version of Scarface. And that's just cool!

This anime was my first "anime". Technically it was Hellsing Ultimate Abridged but I did go and watch ultimate and then older adaptation as my first anime so....it do be some good stuff.

One thing I must say also about this show that is a small detail but it's well done. Even if the writing can be kinda goofy for some of the characters, the voice actor for the major does a perfect german-english accent, the guy for pip the mercenary does an awesome French accent, some of the British accents are so so, father Andersons accent is spot on also. It draws you into the story so much more

I really like these reviews but I also like the ones where you do multiple reviews in one like a top 5 manga or a top 10 anime or even a top 3.

Honestly I love this man and his humor

I literally just started watching it a few days, it’s really good and the opening is amazing

oh yes, the episodes of this series were released throughout a 7 year laps where the firs 7 episodes came out every 24th of december. Still remember my christmas expecting it...and the ones where it did not have a studio animating it, the painwas real

I loved hellsing but the abridged immortalised this show for me, also DPS song called level 0 already made me rewatch the show

7:08 I had the exact same god damn experience. I actually managed to gaslight myself into thinking I just gave up on watching it since then. So that was a hell of a mystery no one thought was a mystery and didn't even really need solving but damn if it didn't just get solved so nice work

The start of the video was enough for me to start appreciating you.

I remember watching this master piece at night when I was in like elementary going Into middle school some good stuff and especially the skrillex amvs 😂 good shit back then still is one of my favorites and all time classic.

What the hell man, the Major's speech about war is one of the most epic ones of the series :(

Legit I rewatched this a few days ago and I was like "Why the hell does nobody recommend watching this recently, it's everything I miss from older anime and it's a perfect recommendation to people who don't know what they're missing out on."

the i like war speech was actually pretty nice in the subbed version believe there was even some background music

Jesus Christ the art style is amazing.

I loved the I love war speech. He’s probably my favourite villain in all anime (apart from light of you class him as a villain)

The abridged version is that, except the dialogue is actually the best part. "Bitches love cannons!" and "ch-ch-ch-ch-check your privilege!" will forever live rent free in my head.

The one thing I definitely love are eyes in this anime. Looks so cool

I like the dialog. I think is one of the beter written I watched. Even the 'I like war'.

I went into this show completely blind and I don't regret it, truly one of the best there was.

The goofy dialogue is fun as hell just like everything about Hellsing is fun as hell.

Just started watching it in Dub... Dear lord... only 25 minutes into the first episode... and oh my gosh. In the first 20 minutes, so much action, introduction, world building, story and everything is just THERE. Given to you, in a way that doesn't even overload your brain. It's just like, "Ah, I understand" Why can't modern day anime be like this... I am honestly blown away... this is gold! Thank you for the suggestion!

Holy shit that FF music near the end. As if I already didn't love this review.
