Yo, i had to pause and say this. I remember when VC was introduced too and i told my cousin it's gonna be pay to win eventually, don't support it, i stopped buying 2K for like 6 years. You're absolutely right, i remember people being made fun of in the comments for being broke because they complained about VC. It was/is ridiculous. I'm glad i wasn't the only one who noticed that.

In regard to the guy that said Giannis can keep making 3s, I kind of agree. 2K has always been about who has the easiest shooting form. You could have a guy with 60 3pt rating, but if he has an easy shooting form, you can green it every time. Whereas someone like Jokic who has 80+ 3pt rating has a slow release so usually he has a poor shooting percentage in the leagues I've been in.

TBH this is true for the last 7 or 8 2Ks. There was a period of time where rating and timing were everything. The form was aesthetic. I can't pinpoint exactly but 2K11 for example jump shooting was based on timing and rating. It didn't matter much what the form looked like.

Yes that is true if I are at least a 60 and u time 3s right u can make them more than u should. Also looney has this treatment he’s a 69 in 3s and people make them more than they should. This right here destroy strategy in the game especially if u wanna jump on curry or lillard. I understand the badges like alpha (or floor general) increase offense for everyone on the floor but if that’s the case then they need to lower Greek freak and looney’s 3s down to the 50s so when they make ‘em that mean it’s one of those games or they were very hot. Game need to be more realistic with the shooting cuz it’s not hard at all. I don’t understand the complaints that it’s hard I just don’t see it.

I went back to 2k23 and i didn't even really like that game. 2k feels worse every year. The last one I remembered mostly positively is 2k20. They spend all their energy trying to scam people into buying vc and not into making fun games. Honestly if the community could ban together and at the very least not spend money on vc they'd actually start changing things.

I played 2k24 for like a couple of days, hated it, came back to it a couple of weeks ago to try to give it another chance and still hated it. I'm back on 2k23 (current gen). I definitely liked 2k20, but I also think that, at least on current gen, 2k22 and 2k23 were both pretty solid. Even 2k21 was playable. 2k24 is just not fun. Shooting is less consistent and I'm really getting tired of having to re-learn how to dribble each year.

You’re spot on …. Played park from 15 up until 23 and 20 was the last good one. Had good defense, build diversity, og rep, neighborhood>city, skill gap. 21 onwards they switched the engine and it feel so floaty and fake.

The last dude is not wrong about 2K being a game for content creators. Since the rise of streaming, the time to grind to a 99 OVR has gotten longer and longer over the years. Only full time content creators can truly grind for those 60-80 hours with ease.

The badge progression/regression system with the floor setters money grab doesn't get talked about enough with this game b/c the shooting gets all the attention. But the badge system is the most egregious piece of shit change 2K has ever made imo.

Badge regression was the sole reason I didn’t buy the game same with the game pass just officially turned me off of the franchise

Playing offline (seasons) and occasionally online “play now” with some of my boys is just fine 4 me. I’m racking up tons of VC that way. I don’t start MyCareer until after the trade deadline because I hate playing in a season with inaccurate rosters so I prefer 2 wait. As u mentioned, I have a life and family so this works 4 me. I have zero desire 2 play in the park

I agree bro. I just play MyLeague and set it up to my liking while racking up VC by playing games. I play MyCareer here and there but I get more enjoyment by fixing the sliders to make the computer more challenging while having full control over trades and drafting.

Badge regression was all i needed to see that they are doing everything little thing they can to force players to keep paying for stuff like gatorade boosts. You cant even successfully do the weekly workouts anymore without having decent physical attributes, as if the weekly time gate wasnt enough

The most frustrating thing about 2k24 is that everything I dislike about the game was done on purpose....taxing for everything...not being able to shoot consistently...badge sysyem...solo rec matchmaking...so regardless of current gen or next the game itself has to many cons

Because they realized that 1) more casuals who will pay whatever and don’t care about the intricacies etc play than those who care enough to complain. 2) most of those if not all who complain will still buy the next game and will keep complaining about the current one while still playing and waiting for the companies they think are their friend and care to update it. That’s why they moved away from disks, demo etc

He is absolutely right about the fast breaks.. when you start to get the break I've watched the animations script the defender to my hip when I've already crossed half court and the guy was behind me for sure

2k had gotten so bad that they know people are dropping off earlier and earlier with each new game so they’re adapting to that. This has been by far the worst 2k for spending money. The amount of builds everyone has gone through within 2 seasons is crazy. They know player count will drop off so the focus is immediate spending. Hence the season passes too. Think of it like a movie release. The opening few weeks is where they plan to be successful.

My one and only problem with this game is the badge regression. But I fear that now they found a way to monetize the badge system it’s gonna be in the game forever. It stops me from being able to play for a long time like u said u progressively get worse as time goes on. I have always been a pass first type of guy I like to get everyone involved I enjoy just being a true PG but this year I find myself being a ball hog just to keep a badge that I may need in a game or two

Don’t change your play style to keep a badge especially a playmaking one I find myself with 8-15 assists per game and have all of my dribbling/ shooting badges maxed out

This is coming from a non 2k player. I don't see any reason as to why anyone would want to play this game plus spend money in the game on vc. The mechanics are trash, the servers are trash, they takeaway shit that you earn (badges), and the grind is like playing a rpg that's like 100 hours, but the only difference is the rpg allows you to create multiple builds and setups in those 100 hours. From the outside looking in its just crazy to see.

This is why the 2hype house moved on from NBA 2K to doing basketball vlogs instead. And Chris Smoove, the man who started all this 2k content creation moved on to do NBA highlights and playthroughs instead.

I was a huge sweat in this game. I ended 2k22 and 2k23 with a positive win percentage in the park with over a thousand games played on each game. And then 2k24 came out and decided to reset the park record every season. So there’s no reason for me to enjoy playing the game anymore because I can be good at the game but it won’t matter to me or anyone else because I don’t have anything to show for it anymore.

The guy wasnt wrong about shooting being easy in a way. Because 2k is green or miss now and has a pure window you can hit with horrible shooters almost all the time. Its really about having a the “best” jumpshot and its why the cheats work so well. It still is hard to shoot in general because of the tiny windows and latency, but there are people out there that are automatic with certain jumpers. Giannis is actually one of the easier non shooters to hit with because of his shot animation

Ive still been playing 2k23 on PS4 (casual player but averaged 35 assists/game on HoF for what it’s worth). Great video, now I know fs to skip out on 2k this year. Even if/when I get a PS5 soon I think I’ll stick to 23 for now

Top things I hate in 2k24.. 1. Jumpshots being different speeds 2. Pass stuns 3. Pass speed is slow asf 4.pressing x for interceptions result is serious displacement like who would commit so hard smh 5. Pressing x and 2 seconds later your manhandling the ball handler 6.being in front of a defender then slowing down literally so they can touch the ball 7. Weird crossovers that feel clunky 8. 1v1 court stamina is garbage after rebound 9. Not being able to run up to shooters before they shoot as if they create a buffer zone 10. Pressing up on the analog stick but your player doesn’t do anything. Or in fact any time I press anything like lane steal and my player acts as if I didn’t press anything/flys out of bounds 11. The rpg element …just because someone is a playmaker with ankle breaker it auto activates even tho I’m not physically moving my controller… 12. Defense is hit or miss sometimes I’m lockdown other times I can’t even touch the ball handler like they slide right pass me. Smh

If you make a game for a console, it is your job to optimize it for that console. You can't use the 'old console' argument if the developers took time to make a PS4 version and not optimize it properly. That is not the customers fault, that is the the developers fault. The fact that (as you mentioned) it is optimized well for PS5, that means that they only prioritized optimizing their shit game for the PS4 over the PS5. The problem is that whichever console you bought the game for, you are a paying customer so it's not like you're expecting something for zero money. I don't even play 2K, but I think that was a subjective and shortsighted take of yours. No hate, just giving another perspective than your 'retro console, skill issue' take. I could use the same logic of your argument for the quality of your camera. You have over 600K subs and you're using a camera with the definition similar to a 144p 20 FPS PS1. I played the game online for the first time in like 2 weeks & I actually enjoyed it. Gameplay was crisp & my jumper was hitting after so much time off. Went on a 10 game streak with randoms

here's my situation. from 2k14 to 2k21 i have played all of them on PC .. had like 2700 hours on 2k17. that was the game i GRINDED .. loved the game, was a die hard fan. back then Park had hackers and shit.. its PC, we get it. then i got Xbox Series S, was so hyped to try the game on console.. Bought NBA 2k23 i spend $80 Canadian .. Tried Grinding the player without buying VC. BUT after spending $80 and hours of my time.. I cant play in the city! because IT REQUIRES XBOX GAME PASS! Why tf would i spend another $10-20 A MONTH after outright buying the game ?!?! it was THE stupidest thing ever!

I feel like that's what most people don't realize. If you don't like MyPlayer and still wanna play 2k, then there are other modes. Or...just not buy another 2k game for a change. It's their choice. That's what I been doing ever since playing 2k. I never even cared to play MyPlayer when playing 2k. I just buy the game to mess around with the rosters and have fun with the PlayNow mode.

Nah it’s not even just mycareer it’s in Mynba too I play nba more than career because you can customize it more and actually make it as realistic as possible and it still happens, I go and check each players stats and the person has a 75 speed-acceleration or lower catching up to someone with a 90+ speed

The game to me has felt the best it’s ever been gameplay wise, but 2k has the worse micro transactions, and tbh the game speed between park and rec and even my career makes finding consistency difficult unless you play one constantly. I always feel like in park I play horribly but then can do decent in rec. Or if I play HOF MC and i can still can my ish off but park its like im bricking open J’s

In my career, the AI makes 3s constantly. Even when they are heavily contested, they are making 3s and mid range shots. I don't think 2k fully knows what they want this game to be.

I play 2k every year. & I’m an above average player, pretty good @ the game. This years game is just boring, they nerfed offense to give the appearance the defense is better. The tactics 2k uses is also weighing into how I feel ab the game. The whole advertisement of the game was pro play features, and pro play does NOTHING to change gameplay. All it is, is Rhythm dribbles fro 2k19

the gameplay is great, especially when playing with superstars that have the real animation thingy that replaced mocap. I feel like the shooting is different and more consistent in play now vs mycareer / rec / pro am and that's honestly prob bc they want users to buy boosts (or Zens 🤷🏽‍♂️ lol)...the game is great and fun except those VC modes which sucks bc MyTeam and MyCareer / Park have been such a big piece of the 2K experience for a decade+

I like the game and in comparison to madden it’s definitely a better game

The only real flaw is the game is Way too expensive probably the most expensive game on the market. Oh and everyday we get a patch I dont like that either

@@Thatguyyoudontknow594patches wouldn’t be bad if they didn’t change the gameplay (besides bugs) so much. They do this EVERY SINGLE YEAR WITH SHOOTING, DEFENSE, STEALS, ETC. People like Mike Wang just need to leave the game alone after it comes out. Stick to their guns and say “this is the game, play it or don’t”

I tried to play today and kept getting lagged out because of their crappy servers.. just turned the game off

8:28 i think what dude was trynna say is the cpu no matter the player or build can knock down threes like klay and steph also the shot timing for mycareer park pro am and rec are all different and have latency

Not only it takes forever to grind , the ai defense is op asf. So if you starting from scratch the game is going to be horrible gameplay wise unless you spend vc 😴

I agree! I was an avid NBA2K player. Been playing 2K since the original Iverson Dreamcast versions (I'm an old head). I have the disposable income, I have the free time (No kids) and I refused to purchase this year's game when I saw the money grab of the battle pass. Like this isn't Fortnite, or Apex. It's a yearly $70 basketball game. I used to shell out for the special edition, get the VC and ball out. But I voted with my wallet and refused to support this new game. Despite a lot of people saying they would do the same (Checks 2K sales) that was cap. So expect more of the same from NBA 2K25.

I wish 2K would push toward the E-League route. Other games with leagues prioritize making it easier to compete. Instead of providing loaner builds that allow for easier balancing in competitive modes, they would rather us pay to upgrade several custom builds because the game gets patched constantly.

I’m a Center and other than the custom patches (which are a huge problem btw) my only problem with the game is pgs who can’t score and sgd who set screens lol

I mainly play myteam and they stomped on the gas for P2P. They completely removed the auction house to make any “budget” cards impossible, they completely control the market and guess how that’s going… I took 2 years off and may have joined at the worst time😂

Fax Removing the auction house, was a big L. I deleted 2k24 after a week. Been back on 2k23 since

Also, since you can buy your season level, they purposefully made said season level progression slower.

Bro in the rec if u leave a AI open he’ll hit the 3 even if a very low 3 and on a consistent basis but leave me open and I miss even when I know my shot

16:15 the funniest part about this is I stopped playing in 2k16 or so and only ever watched Chris smoove’s or like one other persons normal my career play throughs

A lot of people live check to check so a 500 usd outlier purchase is a serious strain on finances. JS. I was only able to get a PS5 by getting a Roomate for my apartment, if I was paying all the expenses on my own, I would still be stuck with PS4. Times are tough for many people.

Andy is 1000% right, i be on fast breaks and they fast feet badge kick in over drive like what yo u just was at half court! I hit 3 green windows yesterday just for the game’s coding to make it bounce off the rim. Insane

First time I didn’t get 2k the day it dropped , waited till got to 34 bucks to get it and I still think it’s not worth it

I try play this game for couple weeks now since it came to game pass and just want to say the jump shot timing is ridiculous online and the community is super toxic always get offensive over mic or private message when don’t play well it’s sad

they organize the game as if people are playing 24/7 so they make all this shit “unlock able and rewarding” when the game is not near good enough to play as if its our job or sm shit

I can’t believe the in-season tournament has been essentially locked behind 2K’s paywall micro-transaction modes of MyTeam MyCareer. NBA did something cool for the fans and 2K monetizes the hell out of it.

Nah homie was talking about in play now online you can shoot threes with a lot of people and you can blow past someone or make them jump and they’ll still catch up to you and slow your drive down

The only thing is they take out so many team jerseys and I wish they bring more choices on each team. And bring back stance team logo socks and even head bands old school.

I think the Andy guy got misunderstood, he was referring to the AI. If the AI is open with anyone, like Giannis it will consistently green a 3. Then on higher difficulties you can play immaculate defence and the AI will still cook. Makes it BS because the shooting is hard for the user but the AI is automatic.

Bought 2K this year on Steam thinking that it finally had crossplay and I would be able to play with my Xbox friends, only to find out that crossplay is for Xbox/PS5 players only. 2K development is wild af. It's okay to take a year off and rebuild.

The shooting feels like night and day from street ball and nba games. Losing badges if not used is my least favorite feature

I stopped playing 2K years ago. I remember I saw TroyDan post a video about this years game when it dropped and I was shocked when MyTeam was completely pay to win. There aren’t even packs anymore, you just buy the cards with VC. There’s no point in playing.

last one i played was 2K12... i had an amazing time playing with my colleagues during down time when we trained to become doctors... every iteration after that, nah...

Please keep in mind not everyone who plays 2K or video games is an adult. It may be easy for kids to get a job, get money and get paid in ur country, but also pls remember not every country is the USA. I have an Xbox Series X (thanks to my Ex GF) and a PS5, so I don't fall into the "can't afford/don't have current gen" category, but to say these consoles aren't severely overpriced in most countries (maybe not USA since you don't have to pay almost 100% tax on top of ur $ 600 or $ 700 ur already paying for the console), there are a LOT of kids whose parents don't not see the point of spending the price of a some 2nd hand cars on something that is not all too different from it's much cheaper and very similar predecessor in Xbox One and PS4. In a country like mine (SA, easily the retrenchment capital of the world) getting a job and keeping a job has almost solely become based on nepotism as opposed to qualifications and performance. When you still have rent, groceries, fuel, medical aid, insurance and car payment among paying for literally everything, it can be hard to just save up and buy a current gen console for R 12 000 - R 17 000. This is why so many people can't just "Upgrade" to current gen and why they still make these games world wide for Last gen consoles. And though I'll be emigrating to Canada next month and will also get to enjoy that American "Milk and Honey" experience of having so many ways to make money (and I can't speak to or for the people who pay for VC or builds since it's something I've never done and never do and only buy 2K on sale which happens often because they're good games that suck every year in key places), I can't just forget the people who work hard but aren't as fortunate as me & you in terms of outcome.

As much as I would love to say this is my last 2k, it just isn’t, I’m gonna fall for the same trap 😂

so recently bought the game for pc and the only thing thats disappointed me is that there is no career mode or goat thing like new gens have i wanted the cut scenes and the key moments play style but nope not on pc
