I searched "Why I Cant Harmonize" and this video title is "Everyone Can Harmonize"
This is really good basic instruction on how to start harmonizing. You might find it interesting to know that this almost exactly how I teach beginners to "street" or "woodshed" a song. In summary, its 3 simple instructions: 1)Learn the melody first, since you can't harmonize to an unknown melody. 2)Find a note that works and then DON'T move until you feel you absolutely HAVE to 3) when you do move, move the SHORTEST possible distance. Rinse and repeat :) This method can be used for multiple (at least 3) harmony parts both above and below the melody line, assuming the singer can at least find their own first unique starting note.

Is there an app that can tell you which your unique starting note is if you are unsure

@@Canadianforestfairy You don't need an app you just trust your subconscious inner ear to produce where it wants you to go
Never heard of Hey Jude.....but I'm trying to learn harmonies🤷🏽♀️
This alone just expanded my understanding of music theory in general. Your layman's approach is quite useful and just inspires me to seek out things like this myself. Thank you so much.
"SUUUU-per boring..." haha! your expression!
OMG YOU EXPLAINED THIS IN THE EASIEST WAY
I’ve always sang “1st soprano” in choir so I’ve never learned to harmonize. I want to audition for my church’s worship team but knowing how to harmonize on the spot is a requirement. Thank you for this series. I pray this helps!

Same. I started really listening for the harmonies in songs I know. I can hear them now on any song. I started learning music theory to help. Now when I try to sing harmony, it ebbs and flows like the waves on an ocean. I am excited for the progress I made, and will continue to keep practicing.

Same here. I'm auditioning next week for the worship team. I've never been trained and have only sang lead. Progress is being made and I'm hearing it better. 🤞
Brilliant as usual!
when the video started I forwarded a couple of minutes cause I thought she talked to much, later in the video I kept rewinding. I'm definitely re-watching this and subscribing. Damn she's good
If only I could prevent myself from jumping to the notes the melody voice sings. I had such a hard time keeping that middle c in Hey Jude, even when singing along with you... (I had no problem to hear when it sounded good or bad, though.)

You are simply AWESOME Aimee 🎉😂😂😂❤
You make it MUST easier, more understandable than other videos...THANKS!!!

Thank you for this ❤
Thank you for this new series on singing harmony. I have been singing in church choir about 4 years now and you have shown me quite easily some of the parts I have been singing. I have always liked to hear harmonies in popular songs. You are very talented. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.
You are lovely 😍 God bless 🙌
i´m so happy i found you, seriously. Although i got to some of this stuff by myself, you help me actually understanding WHAT i´m doing ;) Funny how simple things can be, if someone explains them in the right way. And kinda sad how my teacher in school, who´s job it was, never actually explained anything... Thank you.

These tips are so helpful to me . I play guitar but am attempting to sing .
Wow so good.
Thank you with all my heart. I used to be able to sing complex harmony by ear but it’s like I’ve lost it completely. Singing on a praise team and a small bluesy group is very difficult and I seem to be really struggling. I’m fine and totally able to do the higher and lower harmony in a trio or just in the congregation, but up on the stage with the sound equipment in my ears, I’m dead to harmony. So I will simplify and go with the one note
Thanks, Aimee, for sharing your generous and inspiring musicianship treasures with all of us. Your teaching and content are clear creative and comprehensive; I learn so much and get excited to play and sing (piano, guitar, drums) after watching one of your videos. Keep on keepin on!
This is actually pretty helpful thank you
That's really great. You break it down so that it's understandable and usable to anybody. A great teaching skill.
