I think you oversimlified a lot when it comes about Ukraine war of independence. It wasn't just pro-independent vs pro-soviet conflict, there were several sides that equally hated each other (whites, anarchists, pro-german provisional goverment, etc.) Sames goes with Baltic states - German freikorps didn't fought for locals independence, they tried to hold this territory for themselves.

I live in Latvia and most of media depiction of 1917-1921 period focus mostly on fighting Germans and White Russians which were far more serious treat than Soviets (simply because they didn't fought for too long there compare to other factions). The glory of resisting Red evildoers mote associated with period of occupation, like Forest Brothers or resisting OMON forces at the fall of USSR

Despite not being myself a big fan of the whole "victory comparison" kind of contest, I found myself to be strangely entertained by this series, as it also shows a lot about the history of the country in brief. However, I'd suggest that a rebalancing of the allocation of the points would be good. Because, I think it's a bit unfair that a victory against a local rebellion, or an indirect intervention, is worth as much as a direct participation in a war. I'd suggest to give rebellions a coefficient of 0.5 unless they're on a national scale, and indirect interventions (like in Cold War) a coefficient of 0.3 or something. The need for such rebalancing is illustrated well, imo, by the fact that the high score of the Russian Empire and Soviet Union are almost entirely due to crushing rebellions and influencing foreign conflicts. It's interesting to learn about those, but I think that giving them the same coefficient as a direct war is misleading

agreed. and probably we need a coefficient for the scale of war. In terms of manpower and territory at least. there is now way to count WW2 and Moldova conflict as equals

As a common Russian guy, I want to hugely thank you for what you're doing. Nowadays Russia hate and even revisionism of Russian history are huge. Hell, I oftentimes come across opinions such as "Russians are descendants of the Mongol horde" or "Russia had always been a fascist warmongering state" or even such cringe as "Russian people are a slavish and obsequious race" But you've shed some light on our proud country in these dark times, and you certainly deserve a thank-you from all our people. The video is very good, although I am confused why providing aid in terms of lend lease counts towards the final score. I feel like counting the Viet Nam war as a victory for the soviets might be a bit extreme, since they never actually sent soldiers. Whether or not boots are on the ground during the war could be the line between participating in a war or only influencing it. Just a thought. Keep the content coming! Edit: The series is good too. I'm looking forward to the UK and France.

If you look at the history, the opinion on Russia remains pretty much the same in Europe since Ivan "the Terrible". The most positive thing about Russia after its victory against sweeds in 17th centry was that now we were now considered northern Turkey(aka unwashed asian horde in the eyes of western europe). In 18th cenrty its the barbarian horde that managed to win against Napoleon only thanks to general winter. 19th centry the Crimean war is considered a Russian loss even trough it held on its own agaisnt 3 major powers of Europe and basically white-peaced on condition that Turks will Yeet their entire raiding fleets from the black sea as long as we dont build our millitary fleets there. And since France, Britain and Turks couldnt really enforce our millitary fleets being buid there, that entire treaty is basically Russian Tzars allowing Europe to save face and in the next Russo-Turkic war against those slavers we were left to our devices. In 20th centry our tactics against Nazis are infamous for so called human waves despite the fact that proportionally we were losing about the same as the rest of the allies, and only have such a large loses is because we killed 80% of all german soldiers during the war. Even in positive propoganda of Americans it was claimed that we, while good people, dont know what a went for water is and thus are infamous for ripping those out to always have fresh water. (Japs later even made a gag about it in Hetalia anime if you dont belive me). Lets us ignore that in less than a month we managed to kick Japan from mainland asia and blitzed their 1 million stationed there as if it was nothing with somewhat minimal loses. Because - atomic bombs is much more flashier news. And in the modern day? Just look at pro-ukranian propoganda and then consider that in reality, Russia never Used more than 350k out of its 1.5 millions in the conflict as per Russian laws we cant deploy more if it isnt an official war, and said 20% of our army are still holding their own against 600k of NATO tech boosted troups of Ukraine. The only three times in last 500 years when our army was objectively shit is prior to Peter the Great, during Tzar Nikolas II prior to WW1, and in the mid-90th when it had a budget of a hobbist sport's club due to economic collapse.

And as for fighting the smaller nations exclusively, do keep in mind that in litterally all of the ricent conflicts exect for fast paced georgian war Russia's foes were heavily supported by USA and its allies in terms of info and weapons, from afgans to chechens to Ukraine. Imagine if during Desert Storm or later invasion of Afganistan or Iraq Russia would have flooded american enemies with its Anti-Air sistems and consider that even during Serbian conflict the good old S-300 was enough to down one of the 5th gen jets. Somehow I doubt that USA would not have struggled in any of those.

@@hukubis of course the US would also have struggled in those conflicts, in fact as we saw they did in Afghanistan and eventually even pulled out. I am not denying that. I would even say that the defender in many cases has the strategical advantage, because they can engage in guerilla warfare. As for the number of ukrainian troops: keep in mind that active Military personel doesn equate to the number of troops deployed in the front, because obviously troops have to be shuffled in order to not overexaust them. The number of troops one the front at one specific time is probably way lower than the 600k, and for the same reason the russians using only 200-350k doesn't mean those don't get exchanged with fresh recruits every couple of months.

Having regime to regime scores incredibly useful, also just think it is downright awesome to have such dense information consolidated to a small time via your delivery methods. You forgot the Kronstadt rebellion, the green uprising, the Wagner rebellion, wagers interventions in Africa, several other uprisings in the civil war, black Monday, and several uprisings during the collapse of the Soviet Union. Also the Syrian civil war is baisically over. There’s not really anymore fighting as the government holds most of the land and what’s left in the northeast is held by the Kurds and turkey, neither of which have anything to gain from continuing to fight

When will be the Point of Divergence for the Perfect Habsburgs video? Because technically it could begin in 1290, with Rudolf successfully helping his son to the throne of Hungary (after the death of the last undisputed ruler of the Árpád Dynasty, Ladislaus IV). Alternatively you could also make the Albertine line of the Habsburgs not go extinct (via making Albert II of Germany live long). This scenario would put the Habsburgs in a much stronger position in Central Europe for the 15th century and beyond. You're factually right but because nobody recognised independence of breakaway republics it technically counts as an invasion.

1).What if Iran wasn't islamic cause it never fell to the Arab invasions ? Iran could have remained zoroastrian. India and central asia would have remained free of islam too . What would the ramifications be ? 2). What if the world of 'The Peshawar Lancers ' by S.M Stirling was real ? 3). What if north India became completely or majority islamic by 1900 or earlier and india was partitioned bw an islamic north india and hindu south India ? Pls make a video on any of these if you are interested

How do the percentages change, if we only include interstate conflicts? It feels like including rebellions and insurgencies is somewhat diluting the actual winrate, in a way penalising stable countries because they can't use unsuccessful rebellions to pad their winrate.

A lot of the conflicts is one-sided and I think it should stick to the criteria that a win is a military conflict where they fulfilled their objective to keep it simple. Additionally, this would mean it would favour countries that overextended themselves and were not military competent enough to keep ahold of the lands.

You take these videos way too seriously. It's just "a fun military score rating table". It doesn't imply that one country is better than the other in war it isn't a championship. I mean, in the end of the day if you'd make this rating for every historical country/regime on Earth then you'd have some obscure Carribean/LatAm/African nation in the top of the list that thought a total of 2 wars in their history winning both of them.

I would love to see a spanish one. This series is very cool and i am very exited for changes on the leaderboard!

You should do a Greek Triumphs of war, perhaps starting from the city state era to the Byzantine to the modern day.

You should really make a video about the Russian Civil War and all it's shenanigans, it would be really cool! (And also because you grossly simplified it here. That thing you said about the Ukrainian civil war was about as accurate as the Spanish civil war used to be in HOI4)

I would love to see you do all wars of 🇬🇧!

I really like this series, but I have to wonder if there are ways of weighing the different wars individually: I feel like the Napoleonic Wars and WWII shouldn’t be treated as the same level of success/failure as, say, the intervention in Angola or the Tajikistani Civil War.

I would like that you also showed battles of war to show how nation performed in this war (Not in too much detail), and also to show, was this war by nation itself with little help or by that fact that enemy of this nation couldn't fight more just because of other problems, because for example while war between Russia and Sweden in 1788-1790 was indeed stalemate, during this war, in second battle of Svenskund (In Baltic Sea) Russian fleet lost to Swedish which turned the war into stalemate. And also why do you said that Hungarian Revolution of 1956 was spurred by western radio? Was is not started by cruel response to protesters that wanted reform by army? Or is there some documents that proves your reasoning?

I recommend doing all wars for France, because it is often memed that the french are famous for surrendering, but I know that France is one of, if not the nation which has the most military victories in history! I wanna see the memes to be proven or unproven
