Interestingly, the first 2 example reverbs at the end of the video tailed off either sharp or flat. I'm only listening through my smartphone, but it was very noticeable.
I think you really hit the nail on the head with this style of videos. Haven't seen such a clear explanation of mixing/producing since legendary David Gibson's "The Art Of Mixing". Keep on goin'!
You should add a short section on a parallel bus with reverb! I find i have a great and more controlled physical fader to level the effect.
@RoyThompsonAudio
2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I 100% agree! Routing is so important when it comes to parallel effects. I wish I considered it when outlining this video - next one!!
👌🏾💯
This video on FL studio would be awesome? Great job none the less got the message! -KH
What’s another word for decay that’s used?
What about adding reverb to a send or Aux track? That way it isn't directly affecting the dry vocal and you have even more control over the reverb.
@RoyThompsonAudio
2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! For simplicity, I didn’t mention that workflow, but it’s obviously very powerful and more flexible. Would love to make an updated tutorial in the future.
Sir please make video on how to edit vocals in Android apps on smartphone so that it helps us who haven't computer.

Can you do a video on the type of reverb Phil Collins used for his vocals on the song "In the Air Tonight"?
@3hooks781
3 жыл бұрын
Great question. I suspect he will mention some kind of delay as well as whatever reverb Phil used.
@RoyThompsonAudio
3 жыл бұрын
I couldn't speak to the exact techniques used, but it sounds like: Very tight slap delay (50-100ms delay, no feedback) with a touch of short room reverb (100-400 ms decay). ...later in the second chorus an 8th note delay comes in with a high feedback.
Anyone know what vocal trick is used by Dead Or Alive? Specifically the lead singer Pete Burns.
Hi Roy. Did you bus all the mono vocal tracks to a stereo Vocal Sub Group and use the DVerb on that group?
Thank you for not making a 25 minute video
HI! WHAT PROGRAM IS BEING USED IN THIS VIDEO FOR PRODUCING?

Question. How do I get my reverb delays to echo one speaker to another?
@RoyThompsonAudio
2 жыл бұрын
This depends on the the plug-in it self (echo boy is my go to) But you could also try manually panning the track or using an auto pan plug-in after the effect!
@officiallistengreatmuzik

@@RoyThompsonAudio thak you, I'll try it and see
Interesting.. I thought we were suppose to add time base effects like reverb and delays on aux tracks and keep our wet to dry ratio on 100% wet and 0% dry? Please correct me if I'M wrong.
@RoyThompsonAudio
3 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely use them on aux tracks. In fact I do! It just seems simpler to explain it with wet/dry… Rather than introducing routing. I wish I had explained this in the video… you can exchange wet/dry for a dB balance essentially (-10db of reverb send/aux for example) Everything other technique still applies.

what do i do if my e's sound screechy like metal rubbing
@RoyThompsonAudio
Ай бұрын
This might be better solved by singing the vowel sound a little differently. Sometimes you can pull out a little 2 kHz with a dynamic EQ to wrangle in the harshness.
I trust Dear FX to give my tracks elevation I actually pan my tracks out way too far I need to learn that 33-36% panning is far more effective than 100 or 90% L/R Chan. save the wide panning for ambient reverb drums or synths....vocals should always be up front and backup vocals should double and have tasters/ear candy with ambient panning thru the track. depends what style of music could be a Riser or a filter with removing air from a vocal track or bass then adjusting it can add some cool effect to a mix.
Please come back!!!

It depends on workflow! Though, auxes and sends are certainly a preferred way to work for most. It was remiss that I didn't address using auxes while talking about the blend, big goof on my part -- but the concepts still remain true. Thanks for watching, Ronny!
...ahhh let's talk about "D-VERB" would have been even cooler 😂 - and my favourite reverb trick is: De-ess the vocal-send really hard above 2k, that will smooth out the top end of the reverb,... unless you are going for that 80s vibe sparkly shimmer!🤓 >>> 4:36min

I was looking for a short video to share with someone who doesn't know what reverb is. I like your content, but have to say ... it sounds like you're yelling through the whole video, enough that it's really fatiguing to the ear. I turned down the volume about half way through, but it didn't help. It just sounded like you were yelling, but with the volume turned down. May be something to be mindful on for future videos.
