And they made the format, smaller of the paramount logo like in the mid 50s I think 1954

That was to make the titles compatible with wide screens like Cinemascope, Panavision, or Vistavision. The top and bottom of the picture could be cut off with no loss of the text. The same was also done by Warner Bros. and Walter Lantz.
