You know what it's crazy, I had this exact idea for a video, kudos for doing this 400% better than I ever could and for being super beginner friendly. I've literally spoken to people who won't get into Star wars precisely because they get conflicting ideas on where to start. Great job! (EDIT) Master and apprentice was my intro to Star wars novels and I've read it about 4 times, so I'm glad you like that too

I’d add the yearly lego Star Wars specials to the non cannon or a post sequel era as they are fun and don’t technically contradict canon too much.

Resistance The second to last I think of season 1 was hux speech from TFA and the first couple episodes of season 2 was the aftermath of the battle of d’qar I don’t think resistance is quite the same point where the sequels are but I think the Colossus was actually in the background of the battle of exagole and the ghost was their so Maybe a season 3 could happen

I would recommend reading lost stars after reading aftermath: empires end, as chapter 27 and 28 of lost stars is the battle of yogan (the battle of yogan is a battle from empires end)

Hi! Some of the children's books and random short stories are not included and most of the comics aren't either for now. Novelizations of the movies aren't included. It includes all films, television, non-mobile games with stories, adult novels and young adult novels. I last updated it yesterday!

YOU ABSOLUTE MADMAN!! I'm starting to get into Star Wars and i want to go about it in chronological order, i haven't found a lot of sources to really know what to watch first, but you just helped with that! Quick question, even though i know nothing about this, i've read your Google Doc from top to bottom and i couldn't find anything about the game Knights of The Old Republic. I haven't played it and have no idea if it is canon or not, but Star Wars fans seem to really love it, since you seem to continue updating the list, do you find it in your interest to add more of the games into the list? Just curious.

That's awesome that you're just now getting into it! The Old Republic games are not canon. Everything except for the 6 main films, Clone Wars movie, and 2008 Clone Wars show that was made before Disney took over in 2012 is now considered "Legends", a non-canon continuity. If you wanted to play those games anyways, they take place many years before any of the canon content. Let me know if any other parts of the list are confusing, I'd like to make it more user friendly and less confusing for newcomers like you.

I love how George Lucas tells everybody to watch it in chronological order that’s the way he intended it yet people still recommend differently than the creator.

My only gripe is I would recommend the machete order for first time watchers (well, including TPM)

My issue with machete is that it feels disjointed to pause in the middle of Luke’s story to see Anakin’s, and it is my belief that new viewers should not watch Revenge of the Sith until they’ve seen The Clone Wars if they can help it, since that show added much more context and meaning to the movie. I get why some people like machete, because of seeing Anakin’s redemption after seeing his downfall, but with my order you still circle back to the OT and see it again with new context. 🤷‍♂️

I love KotOR and RC, but they are among the less canon things in the legends. TCW is the reason why the author of republic comando have leave Star Wars.

I really like this list. I appreciate that it’s not a completely rigid timeline with exact dates, you picked what helps the story flow the best and not break up important story beats. I do think you should add the rest of the comics, there’s a lot of great stories in there that I don’t think should be skipped. Especially in the series “Doctor Aphra” and the 2017 “Star Wars” run. I’m definitely going to try running through this timeline in my free time. I happen to own (kind of illegal) blu-rays of the theatrical original trilogy so I think I’ll rewatch those at the start and then watch the Special Editions within the actual timeline. I’m pretty sure I’m still not going to like them but who knows, my opinions might change. Btw, I’m firmly against piracy except in cases when you can’t actually purchase something anymore. Case in point: theatrical Star Wars. There’s literally no way to legally watch them in a reasonably high quality nowadays. If Disney dropped 4k blu rays of them I would buy them in a heartbeat, but that’s where I’m at. Also I think fan edits are great to watch as long as you own Disney + or blu rays of the original sources. I’ve seen your original Clone Wars Season 7/Revenge of the Sith edit but not the Ultimate Edition one so I’ll check that out in this timeline

Thank you! Maybe after I've caught up on all the books, I'll get into the comics more, but right now it seems kinda overwhelming. When it comes to the Special Editions, The Empire Strikes back is the least tampered with and the changes to Boba's voice and the Emperor are nice for continuity, but there are some really annoying things in the other two like Greedo shooting at Han, the pointless CGI Jabba scene, the annoying Jedi Rocks song, and the worst one for me is Vader saying "no" before killing Palpatine. That scene is way more emotional when you can know what he's thinking without him saying it out loud. The Hayden Christensen ghost is weird since Obi-Wan and Yoda's ghosts are the age they were when they died and he's young for some reason, but at least it'll bridge with continuity in the Ahsoka show where we'll probably see Anakin's spirit again. Edit: one more thing to add is that even though the Special Editions are technically canon, a lot of the creators of Star Wars content also prefer the theatrical cuts and make their content match up with them. Examples: Vader has eyebrows in Rebels, the krayt dragon noise is the original one in The Mandalorian, and the Sarlacc doesn't have the added beak and extra tentacles in The Book of Boba Fett.

There are a lot of changes that simply fix continuity errors, the lightsaber colors, and I’m even okay to some extent with the CGI ships (although it’s a shame the original props are replaced). But those pointless changes that drag down the pacing and add nothing except annoyance are so dumb.

@@dextergrif1052 Yeah most of the changes are so minor and pointless that it's just baffling. 1970's models look better than early 2000's CGI in my opinion and changing it just takes away some of the charm of the old effects. When it comes to the lightsaber colors, they were correct in the theatrical cuts, then they got messed up and then fixed again in future releases. It's kinda a mess. Also I made an edit to my previous reply that I'm not sure you saw since you got back right away.

I would love to find someone who has never watched star wars at all and then show them every TV show and film in true chronological order as an experiment. Seeing revenge of the sith for the first time after clone wars up to the final must be amazing not knowing what happens to anakin and the other characters. I would normally tell people to watch star wars in release order but would love to see this happen as an experiment and to see what they think. The prequels is probably better this way, the original trilogy would suffer though.

I watched some KZreadr watch the prequels first and then the originals. They said the whole time they could only see Vader as Anakin, and they didn’t think Episodes 1 and 2 were that good. If someone (like a kid) is lucky enough to not have the OT spoiled, then they should definitely start there IMO. The rest doesn’t have to be release order.

Do you still have plans to make a revenge of the sith extended edition with deleted scenes added in? Always good to tune in 😎 One day I’ll finally pick up and read the OG Thrawn trilogy

I just rewarded the whole saga myself I'm on resistance now but I'm really not into the new trilogy (surprise surprise) and don't want to watch it at all but it goes against my inner programming lmaoo

but i think that the fact that Assaj was supposed to be in resistance even though Dark disciple is part of Lucas vision is prove that the disney canon just like legends is a separate timeline from Lucas canon.they kept the six movies and TCW because thats only what was canon to George with its true but if they were gonna have originally Assaj in resistance despite Dark disciple being Lucas canon that means that the new canon is a diferent timeline from Lucas canon because if it wasn´t they would never consider having Assaj in resistence and even though that didn´t happened they did consider that and im not sure if it was Filoni who thought having Assaj in resistence since Filoni wasn´t much involved in resistance

By the way Ahsoka series takes place between 9 and 10 ABY.

lucasfilm sees there books and comics and games the same way they see the eu the only book and comic that its part of the new canon is son of Dathomir and Dark disciple because they are based on unproduced scripts for TCW but im not sure if Dark disciple and son of Dathomir are not gonna be disregarded to since Assaj was supposed to be in resistance fighting Kylo and that would made Dark disciple non canon

Yeah, it's not canon. There's other non-canon content on Disney+ like the Ewok movies, LEGO stuff, and Visions. When Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the only things they kept canon were what George Lucas made: his 6 films, and TCW 2008 movie and series.

Unpopular opinion: I think Disney should just remake all there books into a Disney plus anthology series with each episode being around an hour long

I’m not an expert on the MCU, you can watch them all or just the ones with the characters you like the most. For Middle-earth, I would watch my fan-edit of The Hobbit if you want to, but definitely watch The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Theatrical cuts if you are new and fear the length and extended editions if you love them or want the complete story.

@@tytebben The arc wasn't perfect and I agree the 3rd and 4th episodes should've been merged I to one but cone on it feels like you're going to the extremes that the sisters are the Bane of their existence. I would rather watch that arc over "A Friend in Need" and the first two Season 5 arcs.

@@tytebben The Young Jedi should've bee a 1 episode or a 3 part arc, not 4 parter and General Grievous was just shoehorned in this arc as another "Threat Fodder" beside Hondo Ohnaka and his Gang, compared to his role in Season 4 of Clone Wars and the unfinished "Crystal Crisis" arc where he played an actual role and purpose. All he did in this arc was launch a Surprise attack against Obi-Wan Kenobi's Republic fleet, took over the Ship only for him to flee when Obi-Wan planted a bomb on the ship then he suddenly returns to Florrum while launching an invasion on the planet and telling to Hondo's face _"We're taking over the planet by orders of Dooku"._ Why if you were previously fleeing from a Rebublic ship that was about to self destruct? Even Grievous just gloats in victory laughing when our heroes escaped at the end of the episode. 🤬 On top of that, it doesn't help that Ahsoka, the Younglings, Hondo and his Gang weren't fighting off Grievous forces but just escaping from them. Even Petro was annoying than the Martez Sisters and THAT arc pushed back the Clovis Arc. As for Onderon, I have mixed feelings on the Onderon arc in general. I don't hate it, but don't like it either it was just "there". While I appreciate the ideas what the crew were trying to covey in this arc as Onderon served as the "seeds" of the Rebel Alliance the issues I had with this arc was that most of the characters introduced here including Steela weren't as interesting, the three way romance subplot between Ahsoka, Lux & Steela, and the inconsistencies and retcons that Lux being from Onderon instead of the planet when we first saw him in "Heroes on Both Sides" also was another issue I had with it. So I rather watch D-Squad, Mauldalore and the Ahsoka Temple Bombing arc over the first two Season Five arcs. I honestly think that one of the first 3 arcs of Season 5 should've been a 3 parter and on top of that Season 5 puts to much emphasis on Ahsoka who was literally the star of 3/5 arcs when literally the only one that had Ahsoka gain development was the last arc (Temple Bombing) plus most of the clones had less emphasis and appearances in Season 5 IMAO.
