I just realized that Gwen is probably one of the toughest Spider-Persons. She managed to stay in another dimension for two weeks, alone, with no money, no resources, no idea of where to go or what to do, _and_ glitching.

Gwen's intro to Across the Spider-Verse goes so fucking hard, it's perhaps the best cinematic intro I've ever seen. The art, the music, the callbacks, the emotions, the real-time event of a band session...it is absolutely jaw dropping.

@@Lumen-Weaver You know the film is about to tell an epic story when it's directors are confident enough to use reverse chronology in its narrative, and making a banger of an intro while they're at it. For a movie targeting a relatively young audience, this film absolutely didn't cut corners when it clearly could in many instances, they weren't making a commercial product, they're producing history there - and I think they know it.

A subtle detail is watching everything Peter B. Parker does. You can see how being Spider-Man for so long has affected the way he does things. _(Probably the best and realistic adaptation of a super hero in general.)_ He suits up fast through interdimensional travel, walks on walls like he is walking on the ground and used his webs to ring the doorbell. Best adaption of Peter along with Spectacular and PS4.

I don't know if it's because women are more in touch with their sensitive sides or not but Silk, Gwen, and Madame Web prove that the women have better spider sense than most Spider-men. Tom's Peter is also intuitive with his sensitive side, probably because he was raised mostly by his aunt to the point that she gave him the "responsibility" speech, which could be why he has the strongest spider sense of any live action Peter.

Notice the difference in the drumming during the intro and the end. The beginning, when Gwen is telling us what happens in the movie, tied up in her emotions the drumming is more hesitant, restrained, building to more and more intense. At the end, when she's getting their friends to rescue Miles the drumming is more steady and confident.

But technically it's the Ultimate Spider (1610). I like the slight variation of it plus the fact he's at his decade mark so he's in his prime. Peter B Parker is our OG 616 Spidey. Thats why it's 22 years, around when Raimi Spiderman debuted. Everything in his story is the 12 years since the Kingpin in 616 was stopped (and what Perfect Peter would go thru if he survived). Except Perfect Peter would def do it better. I think that's trippy and super meta for an animated movie.

The ATSV portals are from the dimensional wrist device, while in ITSV the portal are space time rifts that were cause by the collider (or anomaly since rifts aren't supposed to appear randomly)

As much as i love all the Spideys, watching the original Spider-Man (from Miles' dimension) again after all these years makes me tear up. It's such a perfect summary of Spiderman

I love how they keep the continuity of the comics stacked up between movies

I absolutely love 1610 Spider-Man. He was only on screen for a few minutes, but man did he steal the show every time. I always imagine Peter as having a much higher pitched voice, but somehow Chris Pines deeper voice works. Kind of shows how this is an older but still young Spider-Man. The quintessential Spider-Man, quips and all.

So we're just not gonna acknowledge Hobie was a runway model?

I wonder if there’s a reason why Miguel doesn’t get a proper intro like everyone else does. My theory is that it’s because there’s more to him that we have yet to find out about

@@coleslaw_ not that. I meant reading the comic might mislead you. Since these characters behave VERY differently from their comic book counterparts. Examples: I genuinely don't remember Peter B Parker exist in Miles Morales comic. But he play a major role in the film. It's normal for animator to alter major detail of character to tell a different story in these situations. Comic might give you the wrong expectation and details.

I like when each Spider is presented plus its comic as introduction, I like to imagine their universes are like comics with different styles in their worlds, and chapters in their lives, but each one has their own story that each one writes, the choice is theirs.. and I like their different versions and stories like Gwen/Spiderwoman, Miles, Peter B., Indian Spiderman and SpiderPunk yeah

Scream at the top of your lungs every time Gwen says “he’s not the only one”

Miles says “Anyone can wear the mask” yet along came Miguel insisting that he can’t wear it nor should he. Doesn’t anyone besides me foresee Miles proving that hot shot wrong?

There’s one hilarious detail in Peter B Parker’s intro. While he’s getting sucked into the portal, he grabs his mask, which is pretty obvious. But then a split second later he try’s to grab the pizza he was eating. He fails and the pizza gets stuck to the ceiling when the portal closes.

Its funny that Gwen got teleported away mid-fight with her Doc Ock only to fight Peter/Miles(1610) Doc Ock a week later. Only to go back home and finish fighting Doc Ock. I dont think her Spidey Sense was leading her to Miles initially, but knew he was gonna need help at the same time. Her Gwen tingle was taking her to fight an octopus, and she had a week to find it. They were literally studying Olivia Octavia in science at that exact time. Miles' Spidey sense was calling for any spider, the other's were leading them home the quickest way. And the 5 variants couldnt go home until 1610 had a spider ready to defend it. So. Many. Layers. I could watch this movie over and over and always find something new.

I love how when SpiderHam says he was a spider bitten by a radioactive pig, he gets side eyed by the other Spider Men

I forgot about Peter B Parker's scene. that must've hit hard for a lot of people. And i'm sure the kids in the theatre must've been confused. Peter is such an awesome guy in the movies, and didn't deserve it. So glad stuff started to work out for him in ATSV.

I mean the real reason is it's quick shot and the animators didn't want to overstep on budget so they reused some models.

Seeing this made me realize this is all Kingpin's fault. He made the collider to bring versions of his wife and son from other universes to his. That same collider brought a spider from another universe. That spider bit Miles and he became Spider-Man when he wasn't supposed to. His universe's Spider-Man died after attempting to shut down the collider. Afterwards, the Spot becomes a multiversal threat and now Miles is trapped in another another universe. In other words, Kingpin is to blame for everything that has happened.
