Every Single Street with Rickey Gates | Salomon TV
Спорт
Rickey Gates decided to run every single street in San Francisco - to get to know a very small area of America, as well as its people, intimately. With over 1100 Miles of street the film documents Rickey’s journey, and the people he meets long the way, as he runs into midst of one of the most iconic and diverse cities in the world.

I am in the process of doing my home city of Fairfield, CA, inspired by Rickey. Not keeping Rickey's daily rate though. So far I've done 43 days and over 400 miles, averaging close to 10 miles per day. I'm probably about 100-150 miles away from finishing. #EverySingleStreet

I love running. It’s such an escape for me. I picked up the hobby a few years ago as a self care activity after my ex and I split up in 2018. I moved to London and she moved to SF. My love for running has grown and I discovered Rickey on the rich roll podcast a while back. I’ve been meaning to watch this for a while and got around to it. A population of close to a million people and the ex pops up in this 17 minute video haha. What a funny world. Time for a run
This is such a ridiculously cool film. Rickey is so easy to watch, so calm, thoughtful, good listener. Great role model for empathy. I've got about 13 out of the 49 square miles done. Watching this (again) renews my motivation to keep up my own #everysinglestreet SF project. On on, Rickey.
I'm an undergraduate computer science student in Brazil. For a course I took, my final project was to find the optimal route that passes through every street in my city, Belo Horizonte. It is exactly the Chinese Postman problem that Rickey described, but without all the running :) This video inspired me to try to it here, thanks!

Rickey, I have been following your "Every single street" series on Strava . It used to be a cursory glance but now that I see the whole ;picture, I realize that every single run was a story in the making. Apart from kindness and appreciation , human beings also love good storytellers . Great job Salomon and of course Rickey.

Eeexcellent, Rickey! I've done this on much smaller scale- my home town. Learned that every dead-end results in double distance. Also that T-intersections (or any odd-numbered joints) cost extra distance. It's more efficient to pick them up right away, because trying to come back later to mop-up costs lots of extra distance. It's better to go to farther streets first, as getting there travels over nearer streets. Crossing-grids and stacked zig-zags are good strategies. I use OSMAnd, as it shows current and past tracks. ON-ON!

I'm doing my city (Grafton, MA). It's no joke when Ricky says that there's a lot of dead ends and not an efficient way to do it. The "out and back" miles add up a lot more quickly than I thought going into it and my town is nothing like San Fran. I'm using www.citystrides.com to track street progress and all my runs are on Strava. I'm 85% done.
Dammit! Rickey got me right in the feels again :) This took me back to my childhood. To young to get a car and to wild to stay at home. I studied the trash on the streets as I ran through them. It told me a lot about where I was and the people I would meet. Great job Rickey! awesome concept and good filmmaking.

Um, similar? In the time I lived at Lake Tahoe I climbed every named or numbered summit with prominence that has drainage into Lake Tahoe. That's a version of obsession as well. Also an opportunity from mindfulness.
@SolaceEasy
5 жыл бұрын
Um, similar. Last spring I climbed a summit in Saguaro National Park during a 7-day solo backpacking trip. From that summit I could see 107 other summits that I have climbed in southern Arizona. Um, similar. I climbed Mount Charleston last June, and in doing so I connected a "viewshed" of summit to summit from Crater Lake National Park through the hundreds of mountains I have climbed in California's Coast, Cascade, and Sierra Ranges, and more peaks across the expanses of Nevada between two different 13,000' peaks near each border vying to be considered the highest peak in the state, and vistas from southern California mountains and desert summits with views to the Pacific and Mexico. The viewshed from Mount Charleston connected Telescope Peak (& the Sierras) with Hualapai Peak and Mount Logan on the North Rim. Hundreds more peaks connect me throughout Arizona to nearly all borders except for the Navajo Reservation. Peaks and viewshed connect across southern New Mexico to Texas and then north to Colorado where I've climbed dozens more. Whew. Wish I was sponsored, but did get free swag, including free Salomon skis and bindings at one time. Mindful. Obsessed. Both.
