Stunning piece of work. There is nothing like the feeling of being utterly alone in nature and just letting your gratitude fill up your very soul. The power you feel from drawing in your surroundings and feeling one with it and the universe is such an emotional and beautiful experience. Society has made us removed from our natural habitat. Made us view the world through possessions and control of our thoughts. It's time to take back our lives and learn to live again.

Thanks for the kind words Eric, and yes being out there alone in nature is pretty unique.

I love coming back to this video. Kalen's insecurities on this trip, despite being an accomplished adventurer, echo mine any time I go out on an adventure by myself (which is all trips, since nobody I know is into backpacking). This video always inspires me to continue planning the awesome adventures I do by myself, even though I always question my sanity and try to plan ways to get out of them once I start for fear I can't do it. It's a great video to prove that there is nothing wrong with thinking you can't do it, but still pushing forward and eventually proving yourself both right and wrong.

You inspired my 14 year old son and he loves your ink. Some of the greatest therapy in the world is discovered on the trail. Away from the chaos of society we find our simple selves.

Kalen, I think the most eloquent frame of this unforgettable short film is that final moment of profound joy, being yourself, seeing not only the beauty of the landscape but the limitless of human spirit. Larga y bella vida!!!!

This video makes me realize that I need to be in the mountains more. A lot more.

When you get out of your comfort zone physically, and then separate yourself from everyone else, your emotions, awareness, gratitude, fears, and triumphs are that much higher in volume. And then the peace and the acceptance of all that is, is so much more robust. That is what adventure is about. It's life, but turned up. Kalen, I know doing all that camera stuff was a PITA, but thank you so much for bringing us along to share this! Love ya!

What a rad route! Really cool to see how you've taken on trip after trip that pushed the envelope of your skills until now youre crushing big solo wilderness walks

A high long traverse can pull out the emotions from even the most accomplished hikers and adventurers. Cross country travel can make you question your routes your planned daily mileage, and just about everything. The journey begins where the trail ends. May that journey never end for all that love the outdoors. Thanks for sharing Kalen. A job very well done.

Ever since I discovered Kalen, I've been a huge supporter and fan of all her accomplishments. Thruhiking is tough, and she shows it in true raw form. I can relate to this since I'm currently thruhiking the Appalachian Trail. Thank you for empowering women to be themselves and go for those dreams.

That moment at the 17 min part where you crested that pass, so perfect. I've had those moments adventuring, celebrating by myself in the middle of nowhere, but fully taking in the moment as an achievement only I can appreciate. What a cool experience. Way to go.

This reminds me of when I road tripped with just my dog this july to colorado and new mexico and hiked and did a little 420 for a week straight. It was honestly the best week of my entire life. I learned so much about myself and this earth. Beauty surrounds us every day, but we miss it because we are so absorbed in the media, technology and our everyday life. There is so much more to this precious life than all of those things.
