I sort of understood this but had to rewind the video several times to make sure I was really getting it. I'll have to watch it many more times before I'm confident enough to do much more than the beginner basics of redstone usage. I have been following videos for small projects using redstone but nothing as basic as Mumbo"s basic redstone builds. :-)

I didn't actually know that repeaters could be locked like that. Imagine creating some dangerous/destructive contraption for someone on a server and you tell them what it does and how it works, but what you don't tell them is that you're able to sabotage it so they can't turn it back off, then watch the chaos unfold as everyone else tries to deactivate or destroy the thing.

I had no clue that the Lectern could be used to power a redstone signal. Now I want you to create some kind of spooky haunted house gig where you read through the pages of a book (like a diary retelling the writer's fate), and when it gets to like page 15 or something, a bunch of mobs drop onto the player.

Wow this helped so much to understand what the main two things I was wondering about were, the observer and comparator

7:05 the lectern also gives off a pulse each time the page is turned, which is why it's in the redstone section in the first place

Good video a few forgotten mechanics: - HOPPERS !! how could you even not mention it - comparators can take output from a container through a block. If the block is powered, the comparator will still output a signal strengh corresponding to how much the container is filled -dropper shoot items inside containers when dispensers don't

I was always confused of redstone comparator and redstone repeaters this was helpful

I've learned Redstone mostly by myself and made simple machines, later on, I grew a passion for it and wanted to learn even further, then I got to this channel and now I think I can finally call myself a Redstoner (a beginner one of course)

Quasi connectivity is when there is 2 or more power signals and when just one of them is turned on it will activate it’s connected output (piston)

Not exactly. it doesn't give a redstone output, but it does give a block update which can be detected by observers which is why it's used in traps and redstone things.

I am still struggling with redstone contraptions but thanks for the video I will keep testing on creative mode to try them out and work out their use in building traps or functional automations or farms

Hey bro, thank you for this video. I used to play minecraft on my phone and as you know it was bedrock edition. Now I decided to switch to PC and tought I could do better at redstone with java. It turns out they have completely different mechanics and I could not understand a single thing from java. So I decided to search up for this type of video. Thank you.

Walking town is "simple". The real hardcore is for example full auto quary, full auto movment, 1 slice per minute

I have been playing Minecraft since day 1, honestly, since it was free to play on your browser and just basic. I never knew the daylight sensor could be toggled to night-time mode, it's my favourite tool, and I never knew. I am, to say the least, completely flippin' flabbergasted.

as a programmer, you printing "hello, world!" with the command block was a really nice touch because a programmers first program no matter the language is to print "hello, world!"

Now I understand everything. Except the comparator.

when light is off it's in add mode where it takes two or more signals and combines them into one (ex: 1+5+2=8) when light is on it's in subtract mode where it takes two or more signals and subtract them and puts it into one (ex: 8-4-1=3) hope that help

a command block is used to greatly control the commands you can put in the chat, it can repeat, chain or impulse and contain more commands at single tick

this actualy helps like a lot, ty ^^

As a graduating architecture student who studied for 5 years with classes ranging from building technologies to design theories, spent countless sleepless nights on design projects and and done my thesis alone, that was still easier compared to this 15 minute redstone video.

Thank you Mumbo! For anyone else who is new to Redstone; Don't watch the whole video in one go - or one day! I've been sitting with my creative world on one screen with Mumbo's instructions on the other, playing and pausing as I go along! I've also written myself a lot of signs to explain what I am looking at too xD

has 1 tick delay; doesn't power block it placed on; strongly power block on top of it Redstone Dust : carries redstone signal that gradually losses it's signal strength; can power redstone repeater or activate redstone component through normal block; will deliver power to block underneath and block it run into, not interact with redstone component that placed above or beside it unless they can take the signal strength(repeater, comparator) Redstone Repeater : can take power from block that are powered by lever, redstone torches, redstone dust, etc; strongly power block or redstone component in front of it when powered; 15 signal strength; only power one way out; has 1 tick delay but, can be extended by right-clicking on it up to 4 tick; extend the input pulse if the input pulse was shorter than the delay tick; can be locked by powering another repeater into the side of it, when locked it stay in the same state as when it was locked Redstone Comparator : output the same signal strength as the signal strength that came in, this carried through multiple comparators; in normal mode it will stop giving output if signal strength came to the side is stronger than the signal strength came to the back; in subtrack mode it will reduce the signal strength that came from the back with the signal strength that came from the side (signal from the back - signal from the side = output); Target Block: when hit with arrow, give output: output stronger the closer to the bullseye the arrow is; absorb redstone; movable Sculk Sensor: produces output when hear sound; signal strength depends on volume; sound can't travel through wool

3:59 it also outputs a signal strength depending on the state of a block... For example, how much an item frame is rotated, or the fullness of a cauldron.
