Legends Arceus did also give us a precedent for this-apparently food ingredients blasted by a Dusclops’ Dark Pulse does experience a change in flavor of some kind. I’d say it’s reasonable to suggest that the presence of a ghost for a prolonged period of time could do something similar-perhaps the flavor would match that of “Shadow-Ball treated pumpkin”

14:27 You forgot to mention *Gigantamax* Alcremie, which is literally a *giant cake!!!* Although, I feel like there'd be some downsides to that one. Just to let you know, Mikey, a lot of herbs are bug repellents. Basil, Bay Leaves, Garlic, Sage, Thyme, Mint, Chives, even Cilantro are known to repel bugs, the listed ones even repel specific bugs. So it’s not at all strange for Petilil’s leaves being bug repellent and edible.

Maractus and cacnea are potentially on the list. One of Maractus' dex entries says their seeds are full of nutrients and are a good food source in the desert. Cactus pears are also delicious, as well as the cactus plant itself after removing the spikes and cooking it (nopales) Lickitung and lickilicky might also be on that list. Now hear me out but beef tongue is a very delicious and tender meat that is underutilized, which is a huge shame. I know the dex entries say the saliva is very sticky or corrosive but I feel it's okay to eat once the tongue is removed, properly cleaned, then cooked. Besides it's like Mikey's point with miltank, lickitung and lickilicky are awful and I get to enjoy my meal as well as their demise. I also want combee honey and roasted sunkerns to snack on

Agreed. If you haven't had cactus fruit (mostly of the sabra cactus), you're missing out. Removing the prickly peel is a hassle and a half. It's almost like a crustacean in that regard.

A quick note about the "eating bug repellent plants"; there are actually a number of fragrant herbs commonly used in cooking which are known to have repellant effects on some species of bugs. Rosmary, mint, and basil are all noted as having some level of effectiveness repelling mosquitoes, for example.

I'm coming up with a drink, right here, right now. Take some juice from a shuckle and pour it into a glass. Water it down and add a few drops of bounsweet sweat. Place a cleaned-out applin slice on the rim, add some ice created by a glaceon (specifically glaceon because I love eevee and its eeveelutions, so really, any ice-type's ice move will work), add a straw and enjoy!

Surprised Octillery and Grapploct weren’t mentioned. Often,calamari is a combination of squid and/or octopus

There's a WAY simpler way to go about this. Simply get really friendly with an Alakazam, until it gives you one of its spoons. According to the Pokedex, anything eaten out of an Alakazam's spoon become delicious. Then it doesn't MATTER what you are actually eating. Addionally, since people do consume milk from other animals than cows, I assume the milk of many other Pokemon is edible. Contenders would include Sheep pokemon (like the Mareep and Woolu lines) Goat pokemon (like Gogoat) Buffalo Pokemon (like Boufflaunt) Camel pokemon (like Numel and Camerupt) Horse Pokemon (Ponyta Rapidash etc.) and donkey Pokemon (Mudbray).

Well, I can never play Pokemon the same way again. But I used to catch certain pokemon for wonder trade and name them things like "Your Lunch" or "Your Snack" and other meals. Often they were of the seafood variety, I mean water type variety.

I mean the petilil bug repelling thing is as farfetch'd as you might think, we drink coffee which is high in caffeine aka a natural pesticide and mint tea is made from mints which also repel insects and small mammals

Vanillite and friends are just supercold ice, and only inspired the Casteliacone.

In the seafood department, I feel like Octillery and Seaking are notable omissions. I specifically mention Seaking and not Goldeen because while Goldeen seems to strictly be based on a goldfish, Seaking is not only larger, but also seems to take some inspiration from salmon. Also, its Sword Pokédex entry mentions it becoming more fatty in autumn during mating season.

Eat Tatsugiri, it is literally sushi, the Tatsugiri interactive voices even say sushee.

And the Shuckle part is now canon. Dot in Pokémon Horizons literally shoved a straw inside a Shuckle and then sucked out its berry juice and she said it was delicious. Snover's berries were also eaten by Ash and his friends in an episode of the Gen 4 anime.

Also, you missed a pretty great option in the vegetable category: Oddish's name comes from the fact that it is an odd radish! And radishes are pretty great.

I think the issue with the Team Rocket plot in gold and silver is the fact they were kidnapping Slowpoke and violently chopping off their tails rather then having them fall off naturally like in the dex. We got introduced to Fidough, and that sounds like it'd be a pretty good choice to combine with Alcremie to make lots of sweet bread desserts. Also, the honey from various bee Pokemon. And fish. Lots of fish Pokemon!

I would never actually eat an Alcremie because it's adorable and my top favorite pokemon, but its pokedex entry states that it secretes cream from its hands and the cream's sweetness depends on how happy it is. I have a strong interest in baking, so having a couple Alcremie around in various cream flavors could make for some rather delicious pastries!

Alcremie cream with Tropius Fruit and Shuckle Berry Juice. Along with a Slurpuff as the timer since the dex states it can tell when a pastry is perfectly cooked. Now that’s one good pastry

Vanillite is supercold ice, not ice cream. You might as well be slurping liquid nitrogen.

I feel like this entire video is just the embodiment of Michael being unhinged about eating Pokémon and honestly, I'm here for it.

Getting Snover's barries is probably a task easier said then done, considering that Abomosnow typically are extremely protective over Snover. Not to meantion Sword's dex entries for Abomosnow talks all about how when Galarian Darumaka try to steal Snover' berries, they typically chase them away, swinging its arms like hammers.

Get a Pokémon to fight the Abomasnow, faint it, quickly grab berries from the snover, say sorry to the snover for what it had to witness and maybe give it some food, win 😎

It's interesting how you mentioned the pokemon-human relationship part, since modern day pokemon doesn't have as many references to eating pokemon (at least not where the pokemon dies, but you do have to wonder where those sausages came from) more than likely because they basically made the pokemon sentient creatures, making them unethical to eat, and also probably the idea of people keeping them as pets adds that taboo into it. Then again, I'm a "meat is meat" kinda guy, so as long as I don't see it being made I'd dig in

I mean it really isn't too far off from real life. Some people keep farm animals as pets while others just eat them. It all comes down the person and their experiences, I suppose. I mean, heck, in many households that raise chickens, the children often take a liking to some of the chickens but they still end up having them for dinner anyways.

I agree up til the “so long as I don’t see”. That reeks of the “ignorance is bliss” mentality but ignorance is just ignorance. If the process makes one too squeamish to acknowledge it then so should the result since it still has any moral/ethical ambiguity the means inherently imbued into the ends. The route taken doesn’t disappear once a destination is reached, it’s still connected. But I agreed with you up til then. It’s not too different from rl, not even with the sentience ad there’s data to suggest that the presence of the complex structures of the cerebrum are the main source of sentience, organ structures that birds and mammals all have. So…arguably cows and chickens are sentient.

I know you really don't like Miltank, which I get. I definitely understand the hate it gets, but that also makes me think it would be an interesting challenge if you could beat Pokemon Heargold or Soulsiver....using only Miltank! As much as we all hate it, it does have some solid stats, so I'd like to see this challenge

I remember the universally hated elemental monkeys are great for making tea in the Pokémon world (or in the manga). Pansage's leaf combine with Panpour's water, and boiled with Pansear's fire or something like that.

Bounsweet is based on a mangosteen, and mangosteen skin has been described as beneficial for skin health. Here in Indonesia, we have a commercial for a popular mangosteen skin extract product with the most memorable jingle, so I suppose Bounsweet's skin would have the same benefit.

I'm shocked at the lack of mention of Vanillite, Vanillish, and Vanilluxe. They're all literally ice cream! And if you wouldn't eat them or don't like ice cream then I'm still surprised that you didn't at least mention them at the end with the other Pokémon that are literally just sentient food

@@xXpandypopXx The Pokedex says: "This Pokémon formed from icicles bathed in energy from the morning sun. It sleeps buried in snow." And Vanillish "By drinking pure water, it grows its icy body. This Pokémon can be hard to find on days with warm, sunny weather." So it could be Ice from them but I think it just tastes like pure Water and a parfait that looks like them but actually taste good would be better to sell🤔

Pretty sure Morelull and Shiinotic would be hallucinogenic mushrooms, and might not be the best idea if you’re not prepared for that possibility. 😅 Also pretty sure Petilil’s leaves are what the super bitter medicines that all your Pokémon hate is made from.

I think that "hallucinogenic" would be an understatement. I'm thinking more like, eating it will mark you for abduction by fairies. Like, you know that thing about how eating fairy food makes you trapped there? Something related to that.

Imagine this: A plate full of Tatsugiri, Magikarp and Qwilfish sushi alongside a bowl of soupy and slurpable Farfetch'd ramen, fresh, spicy Combusken wings, Avgolemeno with fresh Combusken, vegetable broth, Chansey eggs, lemon juice and a drizzle of Arboliva oil and a cheesy burger, with the buns being made for Fidough and high quality wagyu Miltank. And for desert, there's Dachsbun donuts with puree made from the smalper head of Cherubi and Gourgiest pie with Alcremie cream (the term Alcremie cream sounds so wrong)

For the Slowpoke, yeah, I'd have the Aloalan Tail Stew, but I'd also eat its skin if it was in bacon or jerky form. Maybe I'd even eat its paws, if they were deep-fried.

If you don’t want miltanks milk then just use gogoat, or skidoos milk because in the anime they are known for making milk and some of the kalos regions cheeses and ice cream

I will say I understand about Lechonk being too small, but in the Philippines (and I’m sure in Spain and many other Hispanic countries), pigs are turned into a delicacy called “Lechon”; with one of my favourite variations is “Lechon Kawali” (“Lechonk-awali”). So every time I hear Lechonk, I will always think of Lechon Kawali, so I’d definitely eat Lechonk

It’s indeed a major dish in Spain, a lot of the best restaurants serve it or specialize in it. DELICIOUS. I believe Lechonk was actually created with the dish in mind.

magicarp, its Dex entries talk about how often it dies do to being incredibly stupid and is often found floating on seaweed. while not the meatiest of fish pokemon, if seal and rat pokemon eat it, it can't be all that bad.

Dachsbun looks pretty delicious. Vanilish et al turns out to be just covered in frost, not ice cream at all, but it might make for a good snowcone. How about Sinistea? Is that drinkable? And while an exeggcute is not technically eggs, I hear it pairs well with the meat of a bagon. Hard to beat a breakfast of bagon and eggs.

"Farfetched"d makes a delicious meal especially cooked with leek" Might as well make Vullaby thanksgiving turkey.

12:15 in the new S&V games it talks about how people use lechonks to sniff out crabominables meat because it’s just that good so yes, it would taste very good!

The honey of combee and vespiqueen also looks bomb to me. And dont know if you would count it, but the olive on smoliv. P.s. Not a pokemon but the berries that drampa gives in the anime also look amazing

It gives Haban Berries. They're a bittersweet, but half as sweet as it is bitter.

You could grind down parts of the Nacli line and use it a salt.PUT IT ON THE MILTANK MEAT!!!!!

With the effort you have to go through to eat Pumpkaboo, you may as well just eat a regular pumpkin. 🤣
