as an american, i really liked the Morning Glory album I had bought at that time...........but when a friend exposed me to all the singles & b sides - blown away & became as big of an Oasis fan in America as could be. I remember listening to Listen Up (guess i was followed orders well) over & over again. And being so excited that I now had a recording of the awesome songs I didn't recognize at their concert (Acquiesce & Whatever). Blown away, and I didn't even like some of the most revered b sides in Talk Tonight & Masterplan. Quality is rightfully valued in music - but quantity is usually overlooked. For a band to dump that many great songs on its fans such a short timespan should really be appreciated. Awesome - and awesome video!

First Oasis single I picked up was 'D'You Know What I Mean' in 97 and it made me go out and seek every b-side I could. Luckily I found the cigarette boxsets of DM and MG not long after! I live in Canada and hunting down the new Oasis singles became my favourite pastime in the 90s/2000s
26:09 loved Stand By Me. I am so happy that Liam is singing it in his live sets and even Noel did a version of it 2022 at the Royal Albert Hall for Sir Peter Blake which was majestic.
Loved watching this mate, as a mad Oasis fan and an obsessed musician like yourself, it's cool to see so much Oasis content and especially you looking into the songs and singles as a whole package as in depth as I do/did! If you haven't already, listen to the early demo of Lock All The Doors, you'll understand My Sister Lover even more 😎.

Yeah the James & James thing seems to be going well!
7:58 I absolutely adore Falling Down the song. It is on my top 10 Oasis songs of all time. Such a shame Noel never performs it live.
James I'm sure during Noel's childhood either in Manchester or Mayo he would of heard plenty of Irish folk songs. From time to time Noel used to perform Dirty Old Town. Great video once again.

Yeah James cheers as well. I always remember bootleg tapes of music were very similar to the 80s old pirate videotapes. You could always find a source to get a hold on them. Totally agree on Oasis version of Street Fighting Man better than the Stones one. Still prefer The Beatles version of I am the Walrus over the Oasis live one. When you talked about She's Love song I dunno if Noel was having a Elvis or Nashville moment to himself. It's certainly not his best. At least he put it out there Noel and not waiting on that perfect song or album again.
That made very interesting listening. I think all oasis fans would enjoy it because they all have emotional attachments to the songs. James' comments on the Stand by Me B sides were spot-on on my opp. My Sis Lover and Fever are real bangers while Going Nowhere breaks it up a bit by adding a more whistful dimension. I would be interested to know where James would have ranked the singles without taking the B sides into account. Great idea for a vid. Thanks, boys:)

Ah sorry about that. We talk about every track in the full (over 2 hour) version which you can get on the Oasis Podcasts Patreon, but I had to cut things down a bit for my channel so one or two discussions did unfortunately have to be culled. I like the white label demo alot - but primarily as a history piece and the sound of the band when they had JUST got signed. I do honestly prefer the Definitely Maybe version because Owen Morris's mix is just outrageously cool. And Liams vox too.

Fantastic video, James! You have definitely collared the mantle for best Oasis-related channel. I was wondering what you used to make this video? Did you do it over Teams and record it that way? Speaking of "Alive", I've always really liked that - it points back to Noel's earlier Manchester influences, and there's almost a New Order feel to it.

Brilliant video mate! Completely agree with you about Stand By Me as well, I absolutely love all four songs and it's definitely deserving of being rated that high.
As a teenager in Manchester I grew up soaked in Oasis, Stone Roses, Cast, The Beatles, Inspiral Carpets, James, Happy Mondays etc etc and STILL to this day at 40 years old the music has the exact same effect on me as it did in 1994. I love your passion for the same kind of music James and love this channel. And I have to say now that some Oasis b-sides were better than their A-sides. I have said this for years and always will say it. From day one til their later stuff they had B-sides that astounded me...... Let's all make believe for instance..... Just WOW!!!!

They never did 4 songs on a single again cuz there's actually a law in England limiting the length of CD Singles that went into effect in 1999. Three tracks a single or some minute cap they put on it. That's why the singles got progressively shorter

The other Guy saying Cigs & Alc really grated on me. Apart from that, a good watch 👍🏻
"The Masterplan" compilation always felt weird to me. Not only was it quite redundant, but some choices are debatable. As you pointed out, the absence of "It's Better People" is completely unfair when "The Swamp Song" is on there...The one decision I'll never understand is why they decided to shorten "I Am The Walrus". The noise freakout at the end with Noel playing with feedback and guitar effects is essential. It's a bit I would crank up. I bet some people don't even know that the version on "The Masterplan" is incomplete in comparison to what had been released before. With a collection clocking at 66 minutes, it could have included "It's Better People" AND the full "I Am The Walrus"...

Morning Glory video just doesn't feel like an Oasis video to me, but it's still epic. All Around the World is too much recycled confetti to me, but do love the song as an anthem.
Some Might Say and Whatever are the two greatest Oasis singles for me. Who Feels Love should have been in the middle of pretty good and I would have had Roll With It in biblical due to the b-sides!
11:44 another song that I am pissed off that Liam does not sing live. Its unbelievably great song. And Liam with his rejuvenated voice, would absolutely kill it.
What annoyed me with later Oasis singles (from the 00’s) was as the chart rules changed, they did less tracks for b-sides. And so many of these weren’t very great or were live tracks or re-mixes. It would’ve been great if every Oasis single had 3 b-sides, 2 of which being new songs. But hey, didn’t happen and Noel would hate me for this post! Love both of your enthusiasm for Oasis. My fave band!
2:06 flashbax deserved a bit more of a mention! Great tune.
absolutely love oasis but there’s NO way their cover of street fighting man is better than the original & that’s a fkn CRAZY statement to make

You forgot The Boy With The Blues.
I agree with you on Rockin Chair but Heart of a Star is great. Oh well.
