Yamamoto had come off a win over Mark Kerr, where Kerr essentially knocked himself out -- and before that his biggest claim to fame was going a little long with Rickson. Him trying to clown Cro Cop was seen as disrespectful by everyone who knew why he was there.

yeah i got into MMA pretty late and from what i'm seeing, Cro Cop came to UFC way too late in his career sadly. He was at his peak in both Pride and K-1

Yes his coments and his Power! He was a very good fighter! I liked his style... He had some Hard slapping punches and was pretty fast.

This man had the best end with his career he went out on a 10 fight win streak against decent competition and all expect for Roy Nelson were knockouts or submissions may he retire he peace as one of the best kickboxers to ever compete in MMA

@@amarillavenegasriera2234 2 of those 10 fights were not in Japan. 1 of the wins was against Muhammad Lawal, 1 was against Gabriel Gonzaga in the UFC, and 1 was against Roy Nelson in Bellator. Hardly "staged cans from Japan"

I watched this on a stream and Silva was begging them to let him continue, they were about to stop the fight and he being Silva went out on his shield after a few tense moments as the doctors checked on him (his face was messed up bad as you said)

Mirko justly summed up his kicks: "Right leg, hospital. Left leg, cemetery." A lot of that power comes from the big glutes and hip flexors he's essentially endowed with.

7:09 To this day, Cro Cop getting his revenge on Gonzaga was one of the most brutal finishes ever in MMA. I’m not sure if the referee was a Cro Cop fan but he really let Mirko get his blood

ive noticed this when Mirko fights. he doesn't blindly go berserk to secure his win at the end. He calculates his every punch and kick from the beginning. He rarely throws random ones and hopes it connects. after he makes sure his opponent is at the end of his wits, disoriented/badly hurt, he ads just enough so the opponent is powerless. I saw him quite a few times easing down when he is sure the victory is his, but the ref is not reacting.
I remember watching Mirko Cro Cop and Remy Bonjasky every night on a small sports TV channel as a kid. It was like a non-stop-loop and these two were the stars. My UFC legends before UFC.

My favorite Kickboxer and Heavyweight MMA fighter. His left head kick is my favorite finisher ever.
Decades later and i still can't believe that those football kicks in the head when someone is on the ground were legal in the old days. Cro cop one of few legends of MMA, always amazing to watch. What a fucking beast he was

They were legal in ONE championship until 2016! Supposedly studies say it's the same power as a normal headkick but was removed because it looked dangerous

That last fight was anticlimactic not gonna lie victory by eye poke. Still an absolute legend though I remember him in his Pride days I had second hand trauma from those kicks.
Mirco Cro cop is legend! He's just a humble tough guy with killer kicks. I noticed he pretty much lands it on top of the head with his heel. And those kicks to the thighs 😬

It's frightening that none of the kicks landed completely, rather they "brazed" them on the temporal lobe, knocking them out. I imagine a full-force impact would surely dent in a head or two.

It's some finishes of Mirko Crocop , not all finishes. He has more finishes. Fujita , Nagata , Vovchanchin , Ibragim Magomedov, Koleman and so many fights.

man you can really see it in ufc fights that the operations took a toll. he'd be throwing high kicks just to range check, but there were none.
What's scary is a lot of those head kicks were glancing blows. Full contact would've been lethal.

@@hippo4214 Oh, I don't know about all that. Wrestlers used to be the best at grounded knees because of their superior positioning game. Kevin Randleman's monster-knees were a thing of sublime beauty. I just know I want them back. The football kicks on the other hand that's different. Those worked best for strikers. Anyhow I don't care who's most proficient at them I just want them both back in the ring/octagon in all promotions.
