Etoiles had to DQ to attend the Streamer Awards while still being in winners after his upset, making him the only player to have not lost a set at Genesis X since Zomba got reset. Also he won the Best Fighting Game Streamer award. GOAT. Random fact, Raflow's first breakout performance was when he beat Maister at Temple, so he is technically undefeated against the highest ranked gnw in the World with his Miya win

The impressive thing about Etoiles run is that not only is he not a pro player but he's a streamer aho just enjoys smash a lot, he's sort of like the french Ludwig. He also had to dq right after that cos he won a streamer award so he had fly to LA

I mean hes the hero player here, he needs those menus every match and it still took him months to learn it. Expecting non hero players to do the same is a bit crazy

Jakal. He had an absolutely insane losers run. This was his first tournament sponsored by my organization, and I was extremely proud of him. Reverse 3-0 on ouch, going up 2-0 against Shadic while games three and five were extremely close, beating Omega, beating Bloom, he had an absolutely insane loser's run I was hoping to see mentioned here.

"Etoiles" is pronounced "eh-twahl" (or at least that's as close as I can get using English sounds and spelling).

I feel like skeleton should’ve gotten more recognition, the fact he got 17th was insane

The Japanese international debuts might be the best story of the tournament outside of the winner: Shirayuki upsetting Skyjay to make top 64 winner's side, Hero upsetting Kurama to eliminate him at 97th, and of course Aka's run being arguably the most impressive run for a really long time just because of the outside factors that played into it. Crazy weekend.

I just want to shout out the three sub 100 seeds to make the top 64, Dtier, Peckham, and Skeleon, all of who were mentioned briefly in this video. Special shout out to Skeleton for placing the same as Miya as the 168 seed

I think with Raflow win on Miya, is safe to say that he’s the best Palu

Don't get me wrong, it's super impressive that Jagaimo and Lui$ were able to beat Miya at some point, but the fact that Raflow did it in arguably the most prestigious tournament of the year is super impressive imo. Though now that I think about it, it might even out because Raflow used the powers of the French Dimension™ to secure the dub while Jagaimo and Lui$ didn't.

This was such a good tournament, love to see Zomba, Shadic, and Raflow do well. Also no hate to Sonix, Acola, or Miya but top 8s are much more watchable when only one of them are in it lol

Miya is only invincible early on in bracket during the second half of the year.

Not many people mention it since Zomba winning through top 8 was incredible, but even before Tweek, Zomba had a decent upset against Gluttony. Every prediction I saw had Zomba losing this match, especially since he previously lost to crepe selee. Another interesting match was AK losing to MVD 3-0. Maybe we'll see MVD on the rise, since I think he also had a decent losers run.

Hey Rister mice this might be a hot take but I don’t not think if acola showed up he would have won this genesis and he was in a lot of danger of getting upset to.if his main rival Miya got beaten by Raflow and Sonix did not win this tournament than I think that acola would not have much a chance of winning this tourney either. But we will never know. That is what it could have been but this is now. I think acola made a good call not showing up because I think this is just my opinion that he would not place his seed either.

I'm looking at the genesis X bracket right now and I think it's not that likely he would have gotten upset before top 8. If he had Sonix's path in top 64, which was Akkakikisu, Zackray and Shuton, he would have been fine. He has beaten all three more than once, and I think Shuton is the only one with a win against him. If he had Miya's path, Raflow, Maister and Light, I think he would have been fine. Raflow is a bit of a wild card, but Acola has never shown signs of struggling against Palu. Only set I could find was a one-sided slaughter against Chag. Maister? He went game 5 against Syrup in the same tournament, so no. Light? He usually beats him. If he had Sparg0's path, Bloom, Asimo and KEN, he would have been fine. He won convincingly against Bloom at WTT, and has a dominant record vs KEN and Asimo. If he had Tweek's path...Now that's the only one that has serious threat, with Zomba right before top 8. I don't think Tarik and SHADIC would have been an issue.

I like Mkleo as much as the next guy but losing to some random ass Ken is just embarrassing at this point. And i know there is going to be somebody that wants to tell me how cracked this guy is but everyone said the same thing about the last 40 players who are not top 100 that beat the once untouchable Mkleo. Losing to some of the best players in the world is one thing but just folding to any really good player so frequently is just mind melting. I must have been more of been more of a Leo fan than I thought because it is kind of sad to see.

Tbh Titan is nowhere near as good as the other people who upset Leo before. Raflow and Kid who beat Leo at Sunrise are cracked players for their characters in their own rights. Even though they are outside top 100, they are within the top150 range. Skinny the Pooh who upset Leo at Rise and Grind was a hidden boss player. Most people just don’t know the player’s name and just call them random without knowing. Titan is the first one Leo lost to who’s actually random for the first time tho

@@mikedcometa5808 during the time of his upset over Leo (October-November 2023) he was just outside top 100. Rn he is top 100 but not at the time of his upset. That W over Leo marks a new start for Raflow’s rising performance after being in a slump for a year. He’s becoming more consistent and performing much better now than he did first half of last year

Rister mice said this on one of his recent streams when he found out about Leo losing and I agree: having bo3 sets makes it easier for top players to be upset since they have less time to adapt to gimmicks. But in general MKLeo kinda sucks in bo3 format, and I think he went a game with ROB so he gave his joker less leeway and suffered the consequences
