Your introduction to Chinese mythology is incomplete. You forgot to mention important mythological figures like Bangu (the one who created the world), Fuxi and Nuwa (the goddess who created humankind), the agricultural god and hero Shennong, the mythological first emperor Huangdi, the Three Pure Ones (the three highest Taoist deities along with Jade Emperor), and the Buddhist gods/boddisattvas including Guanyin (which is arguably the most worshipped Chinese deity) and Four Heaven Kings. Sun Wukong is a very iconic figure in Chinese culture, but he is not a part of Chinese pantheon.

@@namixless9732What are you talking about? It’s so easy to find out about Celtic mythology as one Celtic country - Ireland - is a sovereign independent state, so the mythology is part of their school system. Cúchulainn (like a Celtic Hercules), Tír na nÓg (the other world the video mentioned but weirdly didn’t give its name), Tuath de Dánann (the otherworld people the Irish myths believe built Brú na Boinne), even something like a bean sí (anglicized in the US as a ‘banshee’) is internationally known. Halloween is literally the Celtic mythological festival of Samhain (the Irish word for November - Halloween literally an anglicixaion of the Irish words Óiche Samhana meaning the November Night or basically the first night of winter in the Celtic calendar. But there’s loads more that’s easy to find, the main Celtic god Lú, who was the Sun god, and gave the city of Lyon in France and the area of Ireland between Dublin and Belfast - Louth (An Lú) its name.

Lot of things wrong with this video, but I can fix some issue I’ve noticed. 1) Athena is not the god of love, she is the god of wisdom, craft, and warfare. Aphrodite is the god of Love, beauty and fertility. 2) Alfheim (Álfheimr) is the home of the Elves; not just the Light else’s. Both Light Elves (Ljósálfar) and Dark Elves (Dökkálfar) live in Alfeim. Meaning that Nidavellir (Niðavellir) or Svartalfheim (Svartálfheimr) is not the realm of the Dark elves/Dwarves. Its the realm of the Dwarves.

Decent job overall but there are inaccuracies: 1. Athena is the goddess of wisdom and war, not love. That would be Aphrodite. 2. The Journey to the West is not Chinese Mythology. It is a mix of Chinese Buddhist and Taoist Mythologies with a Buddhist bias. The novel only became associated with Chinese Mythology because of how popular it is. 3. The Jotnar are not exactly giants. That misconception comes from a very bad translation. 4. I saw this coming, no offense, but the names for the Aztec gods are all pronounced wrong. 5. You forgot the Kupua and Amakuas. You also forgot Maui, the main hero of Polynesian cultures, who in one version fished the Hawaiian islands out of the sea.

There are 100s of animest gods. Plus if you are gonna point out the Zodiac...Egypt, Greek, and Mesopotamia have their own deities/heroes associated to it. Plus Loki is not a half-giant, he is full Jotun and was taken as a hostage by Odin and considered a close friend. It is bad when history get misinterpreted, you do my harm by getting things wrong. @@ducky6964 Hawaii was an independent Kingdom for centuries until the US annexed it, the UK never actually had ownership of Hawai'i for the UK recognized Hawai'i as an independent Kingdom. Also the Hawaiian flag is the UnionJack in the corner with alternating red, white and blue stripes, but that was adopted after being annexed by the US which was no longer under the US.

Athena: Goddess of wisdom, war strategy, crafts, and the like turned Arachne into a spider because she let the praise received from her weaving skills go to her head and started claiming she was better than Athena herself. Yes, Athena was envious of the talent of a mere mortal, it was the prideful attitude and bragging spirit that served Arachne her fate.

Much more to Celtic mythology than a few fantasy creatures. Ireland at least has one of warriors, various gods and goddesses, and various festivals. Cows and tree worship too. We follow the Gaelic calendar which has traces of the festivals. As far as I know of other Celtic countries, they have lots in common, but they also have their differences. Scotland and Wales.

There’s one thing about Norse mythology that is looked over a lot and I think is due to a mistranslation as well as incorporating Christianity. Niflheim (I think don’t quote me on this but someone can correct me on all of this) has Hel as one of the areas or something, I think that they separate Hel as it’s own to relate to Christianity. If I remember correctly there was a mistranslation with svartalfheim, the land of the dwarves and Nidavlir, the land of the dark elves, which is almost completely forgotten about. I’m big on Norse mythology and I much prefer the original 9 realms (meaning all the ones excluding Hel (as its own separate realm) and including nidavlir to separate the dwarves and dark elves (which had similar descriptions which I think is the reason for the mistranslation. If I am mistaken please correct I don’t want it seem dumb

Based on the inaccuracies, I wouldn’t be surprised. Athena is the goddess of war strategy, wisdom and weaving/artistry, Pēlē (from Hawaiian Mythology) was a volcano kupua, a supernatural human with godlike powers who is not a traditional “god” (kupua can be gods, but are also sometimes spirits or shape-shifting monsters), not an Akua, her GIRLFRIEND was Hi’iaka, not her sister. Māui was the one who mythologically made the Hawaiian Islands by pulling them up, not Pēlē. Though don’t quote me on the Hawaiian Mythology part-I got the information from OSP, their videos are amazing. Edit: On second thought, Pele might be an Akua, because she’s an “elemental goddess”. Though I might be wrong, I’m not Hawaiian and apparently the Akua-to-Kupua assigning is a very wooly sort of science.

Athena is the goddess of war strategy and wits. Aphrodite, on the other hand, would be the god the love and beauty. And some stories say that Athena took pity on Arachne and turned her into a spider after Arachne tried killing herself because no one appreciated her beautiful weavings anymore.

You missed the most important thing about Japanese mythology. Unlike most mythologies from other parts of the world, Japanese deities are mortal, just like humans. They’re not untouchable divine beings, they’re living just like us. There are countless stories of once enchanted forests and mountains losing protection because their gods died.

The Jotun / Jotnar are not “Frost giants”. They aren’t “Giants” at all. This is the biggest historical mistranslation I’ve seen. It comes from the Protogermanic word Etaną meaning to eat or to consume. Jotun therefore would be more accurately be translated to consumer or devourer.

The ancient Egyptians did NOT bury their servants alive along with their kings. There is circumstantial evidence that for a very short time during the First Dynasty period there may have been 'retainer sacrifices', when people were sacrificed and buried along with the king or high officials, but that was pretty much a one-time thing and it is incorrect to imply it was standard practice or even occasional.
