I always enjoy seeing these videos. Personally I can't recall cancelling a single pledge, but that's because I tend to avoid putting a pledge in until I'm convinced I'd want it. I'm sure that it might happen if there were a 1st day bonus, but I tend to dislike that concept, so it's also a reason to not back, as well as one to back early. Plenty I've been close to backing, but after giving it a few days reflection / studying the campaign, I've decided against it. Many different reasons, but often totting up the full cost including VAT and shipping makes me doubt the value. On 2 occasions I've delayed until the pledge manager, and then pledged, based on the additional info. On one other they ran a follow-up campaign with a v2 + expansion for the game, which I then backed for (liking the little improvements). Darkest dungeon and Alba! Two good saves there for sure.

Good to cancel when you realise the game is not right for you. The best thing a player can do is reflect on what type of game they prefer. Helps to filter out the noise.

I cancelled Bone Wars when I realised it was going to have an element of competitive conflict that doesn't appeal to me - bit gutted because I really like the theme. Holding out hope for Holotype's solo in their next campaign to get the vibe I'm looking for.

I love Godtear and... i don't blame you for not wanting anything to do with it. But you are missing out on a great game. The crowd that enjoys it to its fullest are your competitive war gamers that just need a pallet cleanser at a con. Or those that play it competitively.

You have my sympathy over NI shipping. I know it's been a major frustration over the years for people based there (even pre-Brexit, but that complicated it even further), and not just in board games, but also anything that needs to be shipped. The reasons often seem flimsy, and I'm not sure I've ever encountered an NI company unwilling to ship to the mainland UK.

It definitely feels like a very one-sided problem. If they do ship then shipping can be unreal, one company tried to charge me £40 for a £4 product…

@@shouldyoubackit I've used a very good NI wine merchant before (James Nicholson) and their shipping cost to the rest of the UK is a flat £11 for a 12 bottle case of wine (about 18kg) or anything above that. £8 for anything less. Utterly reasonable.

I cancel all the time. Lol. Is this a real big deal? It's staple. I get in for a eb or whatever. I cancel 90% of all games I pledge for. I even ask for a refund quite a few times *after* the campaign ends. 😂

I cancel a bunch cause I back a game (even for $1) and then cancel later because backing it means I get the update notifications. Or I back for the early bird and then decide later. I’m a very indecisive person when it comes to board games 😅

Why would you be requesting a refund after the campaign ended? Have you received your game at that point?

@@shouldyoubackit For a host of reasons. Changed my mind, don't want the game. Money. Not sure the company can deliver. I've even issued chargebacks. Why would I receive a game if I get a refund? In most cases I'm like Kanalune. I back for a $1 the campaign and either keep $1 for the pm or cancel.

Tbh people should stop backing cat in sack. Every kickstarter should require either demo on tts or bga. Publisher confident in their games shouldnt be worried about people not liking it

@@shouldyoubackit then they should really do it themselves or find people that can do it. (Like there is plenty of people who can port their game on tts with low costs) They waste money on marketing instead of key aspects, but hey we might aswell print plastic
