Reminds me of when I was little and my dad would take us with him to Home Depot and browse for hours finding all the materials for new projects. And then afterwards he’d take us by the new Dairy Queen for ice cream. Good times!

I don’t need help I know what I’m doing! Ok I’m completely clueless 😂. I need SO MUCH help. More than you’re paid to give. I had the best worker there with me every step of my reno. She was amazing. She was so kind. I felt guilty because I know the amount of help she gave didn’t nearly do justice to her salary.

ROFL!!!!!!! I'm the one who was Daddy's Little Handy Girl and goes into Home Depot knowing how to handle a screwdriver, wrench and drill, grew up to have side jobs helping a contractor buddy, then marries a guy whose Dad is the other side of "I survived the Depression" coin and took pride in being able to afford to hire someone to do his home renovation for him. Oh well, I've been married since 1995 and my husband has become a lot more confident with home renovating, LOL!

You forgot that one Home Depot will NEVER have everything in stock for your project. When doing something like a bathroom upgrade I have to go to at least 2 or 3 to get all the tile needed.

Good god YES. I hated this, then they call and their like yeah we have it! Go to that store oh… we just sold it….

The worst is when you actually plan and write it all down and you STILL get it wrong and have to go back, more than once! This was literally me the last few days doing irrigation in my yard (difference being my husband is the one at home with the kids while I go again and again). Best thing about Home Depot is if it’s in the store, the app tells you which Aisle and Bay it’s located on. So I can look like I know what I’m doing, even if I don’t. 😂

This is a good chance to remind people to ask handymen about their experience instead of just hiring the lowest bidder. The last thing you want is to hire a guy like this to practice on your home because he wanted to branch out to the gig industry and didn’t know how to properly bid or shop for a job.

Lol. My husband and I went to home Depot together and he was the one who pinned down workers to ask questions, while I was like let's just read the aisle labels and find our stuff eventually. 😂

It’s a flat head, a Phillips head, an Allen wrench, and if it’s a star shape, that’s a Torx. Father, and hubby taught me well. Hope that helps!

I don't think I've ever done a project that didn't take at least two trips to the Home Depot. The first trip you're confident and happy. The second trip you're not thrilled the third and fourth trip you're grumpy as hell and you look like crap. And of course, she always get the same person in the checkout line. :-)

I just started working at Home Depot today. What a coincidence .

Me at Lowe's. I never ask for assistance. They typically don't know or look at me like I'm from another planet. The back and forth is a killer.

This is my mom, except she knows the store better than the employees. she doesn't need help. There was a time where every employee at our Home Depot in SoCal knew her name and asked about us (the kids). My dad bakes and raises our orchard. we always joke that my mom will be buried with a home depot gift card. or her tools in her garage.

Lmao “I’m not asking for the star screws!” UGH I got so annoyed when I saw the star screws & the square screws. Like when did different drill bits become an issue where Phillips & flatheads weren’t enough?!

My two worst enemies: 1. Going to HD to find any part for few garden irrigation designs I’ve made (have literally never succeeded) 2. Going to HD and having any special tool/product I’m looking for being located in the high storage shelves!!! It’s truly a love, hate relationship with our HD, but me and my fiancé always find ourselves going on “dates” there….

Same! Girl here too … I much prefer a hardware store any day. I like browsing the aisles and just seeing what they have and how things work. It’s also gratifying because it’s practical - you can walk in get what you need and walk out, and your home or project is better for it. (Unlike a clothing store or department store where I feel overwhelmed and lost without a clear way of getting what I need). My Dad used to take me as a kid and I have a fondness for the experience. He always let me ask questions about what is what and what he was buying so I was able to learn. One more reason I miss him 🥲
