Your triggers for self- harm start out really big, but they get more and more trivial as time goes on. It becomes a conforting thing to do. A way to soothe yourself. People see self-harm as something you do for a really distressing situation, and it is at first, but it eventually becomes something that you do and you don't especially know why. I did eventually realise that I was doing it to comfort myself, so now I know why.

Super duper relate to this. I'm in a much better place than I was when I started cutting 6 years ago, but I still get the urge every once in a while. No trigger, it just pops into my head as something to do. Though I have also relapsed due to stress. ~7 months clean🦋🦋🦋

I used to do it, and get still get the urge to now, because of fibromyalgia (and PTSD+Migraines, but works out the same). The sharp surface pain distracts from the deep ache that never goes away. I never did it enough to become an addiction, thankfully, but it was the only pain treatment I had available to me.

Once you start, you can't be free of it again. You can stop, but there's always the potential to hit situation that triggers you to restart. I have to say I am probably into one of the longest SH free spells I've ever had since starting. I'm not even thinking about doing it and I can't imagine wanting to do it, but there's always the chance of hitting something, like a really bad down period, which triggers it.

I had a SH addiction, it started out as just a coping mechanism, you know, as it usually does. I started being obsessed with the way skin split apart and was distraught if I didn't go deep enough. It's lead to permanent disfigurement due to all the scar tissue, and mild nerve damage. I'm alot better now, thank god, I got my mental issues fixed which helped with triggers alot, and not I only ever get urges if I'm incredibly distraught, but either way I have a lot weaker pain tolerance than I used to lmao. SH is never the answer, if you ever feel like hurting yourself, talk to someone, tell someone, it may be scary but that one thing will help so so so much

I did it without even knowing SH was a thing. I just think subconsciously my brain couldn’t handle my thoughts because it was bored and it resorted to self harm. I only knew about it after talking to my parents because they realized a cut. It’s a good thing I didn’t get into that because it could’ve developed into something worse.

Cluster headaches for the win of the “please just let me end “ award. I had them like clockwork for several years after suffering a skull fracture in my early Twenties. I’ve broke multiple long bone fractures, which have left me with metal in myfemur and tibial plateau , had a gallbladder fail and require removal, survived septicemia , endured withdrawal from narcs and benzos countless times and that welding torch right above my left eye is my 10/10. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. The neurologist thought I was seeking narcos and asked me to keep a journal. Planning years of your life knowing that from 7-8am nearly daily you’ll be unable to form thoughts because of some stupid nerve damage or blood flow irregularity brought me me to the point of taking well planned attempts multiple times.

I had a gambling addiction for a gacha system of a game I love. Every time I risked getting a new character, it was a rush of dopamine. I put practically all of my money into the game, to the point I barely had money for Christmas. The final straw was spending 250$ all at once, where I would not be able to pay my bills after it. Thankfully I had support after it and I refuse to spend more money into it. Addictions are scary.

theres a way more common argument to be made against porn- it devalues actual relationships. destroys them. a rape case is less common than a failed relationship, so its funny that people overlook this huge issue that comes with it. rape is more severe, no doubt, but ive personally met more people that are broken socially through porn than rape victims.

I'd feel like the people around me kept going after everything I did and no one would see how bad it got cause it stemmed from a coworker who'd been there for like twenty years. I had to take a massive pay cut just to get away. Now I'm still struggling to stay clean. All cause of my job.

(DO NOT READ IF YOU SH) i noticed that i start having withdrawals from self half, in stressful situations when i dont i sleeves on i will start itching violently at my scars. ive also had what feels like nicotine withdrawals to self harm, i think about it alot. i havent done it in a few months but it seems the more i stay away from it the more i crave it. i want to hurt myself. but ive stopped myself every minute of the day. and no its not necessarily my mind telling me to do it its almost like a habit. sometimes my hands and arms will just do the motion. im so tired of feeling this way, because when the cravings hit most the time i wont even be stressed out, ill just be in the car and all of a sudden i get cold and shivery.. means i want to hurt myself.

Also, this chanel in general dont seem to give the most thrustworthy information. I noticed some false info on the things i myself have struggled with, and some of the things i have an intrest in. Also idk but the chanel itself seems... fake in a way. Sometimes it felt like i was listening to a text to speech voice and so on.
