The editing in that bit slays me every time.

I personally think of Tim Allen saying "You're not allowed to say Merry Christmas anymore" in a christmas movie he was being paid millions of dollars to star in.

The trashcan bit is just funny enough to be believable as a real routine while just lame enough to function as a parody of a bad routine. Perfect job nailing that balance!

Nah. Some comedians have something indefinable that can force funny. Andy Kauffman had a whole routine without jokes. I had no idea who he was when I saw it and I felt bad because his awfulness was funny. It wasn't until the end you realize the whole thing was staged. I have even seen comedians who somehow make jokes in other languages, but somehow you find them funny.

"Have you ever been to the zoo?" I'VE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT LIKE THAT. This guy really tells it like it is!

Yes, because dictatorship is when fans are allowed to criticize comedians. A true democracy is where rich and famous people can say whatever they want and their viewers are silenced and not allowed to say how they feel about what they're saying.

Not because he's sexist or anything, I dont think he is sexist, Its just fucking boring and makes you go "there he goes again" after like 4 or 5 times you've listened to him and he some-fucking-how will always bring the topic down to "woman bad amirite" . And he always takes it the wrong way, like people criticize him for being sexist. Nah we criticize him because its getting pretty fucking boring. At least other comedians don't run out of things to say, this guy just kinda brings everything back to one topic, like a crazy uncle that just wont shut the fuck up about politics.

And then the same people who worship these kind of comedians get mad as say, "Name ONE comedian who's like this." When you talk about them. Then when you do name some for them, they just deny it or say that these comedians are "gOiNg AgAiNsT tHe StAtUs QuO." And, "NoT lEtTiNg PoLiTiCaL cOrReCtNeSs and cAnCeL cUlTuRe get the better of them!" Saying the same things things that a third of comedians say on Netflix and KZread have said a hundred times isn't exactly "going against the status quo". 😂

And I can guarantee there's some hack comedian seemingly doing very well against all odds with some piece of material equally lame/worse, lol.

He was cancelled so hard he got multiple specials on Talk shows to say how hard he was cancelled Edit: My point is that generally, when people decry cancel culture, they really mean ‘I said something wrong and people got rightly mad’ or ‘Some crybabies on the Internet are having a go at me and I’ve decided to blow the issue completely out of proportion’. Cancel Culture is a real and pressing issue, and the victims of it are generally less visible or fortunate than whatever comedian made an offensive joke this month. If anything, most comedians who have supposedly been ‘Cancelled’ actually get more attention.

WHO ARE these people who like to leave that kind of comment? I know sometimes you have to leave that kind of comment, but there are people out there who seem to literally _enjoy_ leaving that kind of comment. I was on a date with this woman. Stunning, intelligent, great job at the Museum, and we're having a nice conversation, and then she comes out with: "I LOVE to leave that kind of comment." Just like that. Check please!

If you were older, you'd remember that people seek out anything that others try to censor--and it was the same way with movies, comedians, and musicians in the 90's being censored from the right. If the left wanted people gone, they'd stop screaming about them every day but all they care about is adrenaline hits delivered from a twitter-algorithm. Imagine being outraged because of an algorithm told you to.

I can't believe I have to point this out, but keyboard warriors don't actually have any power over company executives. "Cancel culture" doesn't exist. It's a buzzword thrown out by rich assholes so they can play the victim when they're being criticised in any form. It seems to be working for them. (Also, "if you think a person is doing something bad, just shut up because criticism won't actually do anything ever believe me" has to be the weakest concern troll I've ever seen)

One of your best. And a great observation: that type of comedian could really say anything, anything at all, because it's not what they say, it's the manner in which they say it, taking the audience into their confidence and pretending to share a humiliating story that makes the audience feel like their mate.

You forgot naming Lenny Bruce and George Carlin as influences, even though Lenny was straight-up arrested on obscenity charges for doing material that Kimmel, Colbert and Seth Meyers do every night and George went on Larry King to say that it's not funny to mock women and minorities.

Very true. They haven't actually watched these guys do stand up. I'm pretty sure that they just heard that these comedians are known to be smart and brutally honest, and so they just assume that they must be really racist and sexist just like them. In reality, these so called "fans" of George Carlin are probably the type of people that George Carlin actually criticised and made fun of constantly. If they didn't just cherry pick his quotes out of context to fit their narrative, they'd realize that.

In fact, there are a lot of things he said in his stand up career that I personally disagree with him on (like his bit on germs or his criticisms against all baby boomers, but he's from the silent generation, and older generations always poke fun at the generations below them, and what he said about baby boomers is honestly pretty tame compared to what baby boomers say about younger generations today), and I wouldn't even say that he's the best comedian of all time or that he's my favorite. I'm just saying that one thing he did do right though was that he at least understood the concept of punching up rather than punching down, whereas edgylord wannabe comedians today sort of punch down on women, minorities, and the lgbtq community, and then they cry, bitch, and moan when they get criticized for it or not many people laugh. I think that if George Carlin was still alive today, he'd probably make fun of the Bill Burrs and Ricky Gervaises of the world, and if not, then whatever. They also take themselves way too seriously and cannot take criticism, playing the victim when they get "cancelled" (or less people laugh, but to them, that's basically what being "cancelled" means). I don't think George Carlin played the victim as much, and believe me, contrary to what the media or what people's nostalgia tells us, you could actually get away with a lot less on TV, and "cancel culture" existed before any of these modern edgelord comedians today were even born.

Very unrealistic, theres barely any bad racist jokes in the set, and no sexual harassment behind the scenes

I recognized this as a Millionaire Edgy Comedian bit the second I heard clapping instead of pained laughter

Maybe the real trashcan on the ass was the jokes we made along the way

Gotta challenge the status quo in society... by beating down on some disadvantaged groups who probably can't do a whole lot about it

Seriously. It's 100% doable to make some great jokes about actual things that have done by the CIA, international banks, etc., but most comedians are dumb as fuck and just keep up with the news just enough to make surface level jokes about the same BS every average person is talking about. Nothing wrong with that of course, but pretending like they're a modern philosopher while making those jokes is fucking nauseating.
