Every Day Gets Lighter When You Let Go of Yourself | The Michael Singer Podcast New Year's Special

The Michael Singer Podcast: Season 3, Episode 6 (New Year's Special)
What do you plan to do with your "next lap around our star?"
Nearly everyone, Michael observes, will do the same thing they do every other year of their lives: try to get what they want and avoid what they don't want. And they'll be just as unhappy.
Why do we do this? Can’t we liberate ourselves from this no-win situation? Here, Michael Singer shines an optimistic light on the New Year.
About The Michael Singer Podcast:
Join the New York Times bestselling author of The Untethered Soul, The Surrender Experiment, and Living Untethered for this free series of curated teaching sessions, recorded at his Temple of the Universe yoga and meditation center.

One of my favorite things about Mickey is how calm and slow and soft he starts each talk... but within 5 minutes his contagious energy and excitement completely take over!!! 🙂

It's kinda strange how most of us see outerspace as "out there" like we aren't IN space and apart of it. Lol.. it's kinda a trip.. to not see ourselves as separate. WE ARE IN SPACE.. it's not out there.. lol

I absolutely love Michael Singer, unfortunately, it’s not necessarily so easy to gloss over trauma responses in terms of likes and dislikes. Yes, that is the root of it but until we go back and reparent ourselves and love and accept the inner child, it seems rather belittling to just say just do it. Yes, it is a just do it , yet it’s not so simple but it is easy, it also hard. Anyway just my two cents for those of us who listen to this and realize how hard it was to learn to override the limbic system imprints from childhood and learn to regulate ourselves. Much love everyone. Healing happens ❤

If you can relax through what is happening, you will be more clear to be able to do any of that work. If you can stay in the present, you can start to see that whatever happened in the past cannot hurt you anymore. He is just teaching the basics. ❤️ A person who can not do the basics can not do the work that you describe here effectively. That is why therapists and counselors exist, because most of us cannot handle the basics alone. We freak out about traffic and other small things. When in reality we are just scared of what we think being late will mean for us because of what it may have meant in the past. Blessings. ❤

I really don’t sweat the small stuff. But in the case of serious scenarios, not talking about preferences .. but daily emotional abuse and situations that you have to just stay in and accept against your values because of your situation, it’s not so simple kind of thing. It’s dangerous to say to this scenario it’s your fault and it’s your perspective .. a concept that can make you feel that on top of trauma which is still relevant unfortunately .. there is something wrong with you if you are tired of being in survival mode and get into negative exhausted. He says basic things that are common sense if the person is genuinely sees life positively, in some cases it’s not easy if there is no support system, and anything basic for human being to operate in the positive

It's never easy to deal with trauma. But like he said, it takes practice and patience, and eventually you will be free. I've done therapy for 14years and it's finally breaking loose. Now to take what he said and let it pass because it's already happened. No longer do I need to re-live it, bring it to the surface, deal with it and allow it to haunt my here and now.Let.It.Go. Best wishes to you.

Imagine a life where nothing bothers you for more than a few seconds (while you let go of the thoughts and emotions). Not the other drivers, not the people with whom you have relationships, not work, not strangers' behavior. Nothing ever bothers you ever again. Maybe nothing on the outside changes -or maybe it does - but the inside is now a very pleasant place to be. Keep becoming aware of yourself and of the thoughts who pretend to be you. You will live this way, when you find out that you are not the ego.

How do we sit in the seat of consciousness? That's the part I'm finding hard. I'm observing my thoughts, but I'm not sure if that's me thinking about thoughts or is that my awareness, the see-er? Should I feel like my heart is observing my thoughts? Or is it something else? Would love to hear your thoughts on it 😊

My head was in a complete tizzy the last few days. I was making myself miserable and struggling as a result. This podcast was exactly what I needed to hear. It helped to remind me of the Truth and snapped me out of it. The peace, contentment and the freedom I am ultimately seeking is already here. I will still work towards my goals but I am done chasing them.

Thank you Michael , Wow what a great teaching… the last part of the different tiers of letting go was beautiful . In the book “ Letting go” by David Hawkins he says more or less the same but talks about Freud’s assessment that suppression leads to neurosis and hence we believe expression is the answer which he also says is a poor way of handling the emotion. So should we look at suppression is the lowest tier than expression . Either way they are not what we want !!

Those who practice the inner tradition, like Mickey, are raising the frequency of mankind. In days of yore, it was a goal to be like a gnani on top of the hill watching the beasts cavort, below. Now, that human consciousness has been haplessly suffering itself into receptivity, and appears to be awakening, let the gnani "high tide", raise all ships. The Universal Prodigals are asking, "Why are we eating husks?" Go home. The hug comes before the bath. Awaken Ye!

Everytime I listen to Michael, I have to work at letting go of how he goes from a 'calm & soft' voice, than he shifts into a Chastising, rediculing, laughing-At, TONE OF VOICE! I don't like it. So, I tell myself to stop being bothered by his Tone of voice... Which reminds me of years of redicule by my stepfather! So, I hear what he is 'teaching' but it sure is hard to let go of what it triggers in me. But, eventually I do. So, I don't listen to him often but when I choose to, I am aware of my past experience with his Style. And, I let go somemore of what is not important. Listening to him is a bit crazy-making for me.🤔🥴🤔

He says how simple it is all the time. And I get it! But it is too simple for our minds (he said how smart it is) 😅 I have been having such a hard time accepting that people around me wouldn't even ackonowledge any of this. But unlike Mickey, I was frustrated and a bit judgemental, now I am becoming more accepting. 😊 it makes less and less sense to have an opinion about anything people do. They are on their own path and we see egos at play, but we know who/what they really are. Now, simply asking for a person to change feels very hurtful to me because I feel like I am hurting them. It is really strange...

I’ve been listening for 40 minutes. He’s just not going to go deeper than..’just let go’. I’m waiting for the how to. See, it’s not that easy otherwise he would have said by now. I guess practice by being aware of my perception. Is that it?

What a New Years gift from Mickey, Thanks ❤. Suddenly I really understand what letting go means in daily life. This elevator story is amazing. But one thing I do not understood: what did Mickey mean by New age behavior ?

I don't remember the context but to me, new age behavior, could refer to a modern society which embraces and develops comforts while avoiding every kind of self restraint and, particularly, the life giving pain of repentance and any pain in general. Leading to ignorance of the existing spiritual heart, leaving us wide open to temptation (provocation).

48:34 what about decision making? You're faced with a reality and you have to decide which way to go. Is it based on like or dislike? Maybe not. Its present at the moment and a decision has to be made. I wonder

When it’s time to make a decision NOTICE 👀 any underlying emotion behind the decision… BOTH ‘like’ AND ‘dis-like’ are distorted by the ‘triggers’ of anger, fear, sorrow… (Or any other shade of dysphoria) What-would-love-do-NOW? 👀
