My grandmother LOVED Evergrey and she died a few weeks before they were coming to town. She had a VIP pass too! She was about to turn 70 not long after the concert too! Keep in mind, she saw Elvis Presley perform before he was a star! Evergrey became one of her favorite bands in the last decade of her life. I hate that she died when she did because she was genuinely excited to meet Tom at the time too (I met him years prior).

Im 52 and been a metalhead since i was about 11. I am gutted to have only just discovered Evergrey. I could of been enjoying this fantastic music for years if id of known. Makes me feel like a 16 year old hearing Seventh Son or Operation Mindcrime. Perfect balance of heaviness and deep emotion. I've been searching for over 35 years for the perfect metal band and this gets pretty darn close.

Still remember seeing them live for the first time in Toronto in 2004 when they were the opener on The Children of Bodom and Iced Earth tour. Been hooked ever since.

Technically and if we talk about range Tom is not one of the best, but ha has such a distinguish tone! You can always recognize him among metal clean vocalists so easy. It's the voice we can call one and only. And I love his delivery in singing. So powerful and emotional. Singing with whole soul.

@@giacomoflorini3312 It is a lie. It lies between. There are different kinds of darker music. Music that is a little bit negativ or music that are real depressive. Evergrey(and many of scandinavian music) is a little bit negativ(hopefull) and very often this kind of music or the sound works as an mirror of your feelings. The music understand your feelings thats why you feel not alone you feel better. But if you feel really bad very depressed also this music is not the best choice. Believe me. Then you write this music destroys you for me it feels like you are very depressed and at that moment this music could be very morbid for you. Be careful. By the way you are like an drug addict human after an divison. It is like an drug withdrawal of cocain. Your body spill out the same stuff. ;-) Of course you feel bad.

But i'm not clinically depressed, and I'm already under support of a pro, i'm renewing myself and trying to rebuild my life from scratch. I must admit that music was indeed nogo for the 20 days before yesterday, I already knew what youre saying, and this is exactly the reason why I won't listen to "Departure" by them for another long period of time 😅

hey man im 33, and im jealous, youll carry evergrey close for life. i brought my own bands from HS into adulthood and ive found evergrey is tried and true one of the fucking best.

I'm 41,i listen to rock and metal since i was 13, and i listened the name of Evergrey for many years, but i never listened to them.Many bands in the industry,many hours of work, family.... not many time to listen to many bands.... but, damn, i discovered the music of Evergrey in the last months..... watching at a youtuber reaction!. And the only thing i want to say is..... thanks to him,and of course,the most important, thanks to this incredible band to came to my life. Greetings from Spain.

one of my fav prog bands.

The most underrated band in the world. This is yet another colossal sized monolith of melody and meaning. Massive chorus, huge production and I love the swells and currents of synths that swarm throughout the song. This is a hat trick- the third great song in a row from another brilliant album on the way. How this band has not cast out up to the Arenas is beyond me. They have something for everyone in the rock-metal world. And 10 more class albums behind the upcoming new one to please anybody. Brilliant band!

Tottally agree with you but future generation post millennials don't need music with complex harmony. They want to listen one freq bass without groove + primitive beat with kick - snare 4/4. And I almost forgot need to mumble something into the microphone.
