EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK- Dec 2021- An Incredible Journey!

EVEREST BASE CAMP- A truimph of mind over body.
This is my story and chronicles of an incredible experience. This is my story of the Everest base camp. This was a life changing experience, and made me realize just how truly nature dwarfs us.

I think this is the best and most realistic EBC trek i have seen. You show so many details that most others leave out. Your attitude was excellent, and i know from doing it myself in December a few years ago, how hard it is for those of us not used to this kind of thing. Day two was a nightmare for me too, and one i will never forget. Walking in the Himalayas is impossible to describe to anyone who has not been there, but you did a very good job of explaining the feeling through your words. Congratulations to you.

Thank you for taking us with you on your amazing journey Dhiren! I don't know if I will ever get there, so I thank you for being my legs and my eyes, for doing all the incredibly hard work to allow me to "summit" EBC with you. Your raw emotion is understandable and as beautiful as the scenery. May you fulfill many more dreams.

Thank you for the appreciation. You will enjoy your experience. That's for sure. Beyond the security check at Kathmandu airport, things are quite safe and especially in the mountains beyond Lukla, there is no talk of Covid. Masks are always safer though, but they make the breathing very very difficult while climbing.

Why did you go via Tengpoche when there is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley? Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail offers tremendous views high across the valley, lots of wildlife and practically no other trekkers. Tengpoche can be visited on the way down.

@@vonkarbel Thanks for asking. Mong La has maybe four lodges at an amazing place high on a ridge. Phortse Tenga near the river is also along the standard Gokyo route and has half a dozen lodges, but I would not recommend staying there as it is bit gloomy place in a shadow and not good for acclimatisation being relatively low. Phortse is the most pristine Sherpa village in the whole Khumbu valley and has at least half a dozen big lodges, good place to sleep replacing Tengboche. Had those already in 1998 the first time I took this route. The Phortse to upper Pangpoche hight trail is devoid of teashops (at least was the last time I walked it in 2018). It is approximately a 3 hour hike to upper Pangpoche where there are several lodges near the Monastery. The trail then continues to DIngpoche (or Periche) skirting a cremation site without need to go to the lower Pangpoche, which is now mostly just a lodge strip and not very interesting What comes to videos I do have photographs, but I rather just enjoy my treks without stressing myself with shooting video for KZread. Here is a picture from the trail anyway: www.dropbox.com/s/3jufplmiycaoera/Stairway_to_Heaven.jpg?dl=0 Tengboche monastery can be seen middle right.

FYI: there is a much more impressive high trail on the opposite side of the valley from Tengboche. Some better agencies have been using it for some years already. No need to walk the same route twice.

I don't want to visit an open garbage dump where the stench of rotting human bodies is always around, with bits of dead climbers coming out of the icefall constantly. I want everyone who comes back from there fined $10,000 per kilo, for every kilogram of shit they leave behind - or spend a lot of time in jail. Climbers are the worst litterbugs and trash dumpers of all time.

Where did you get these ideas? Khumbu Icefall is about 3000m long and the average flow speed of the glacier is 20 m per year. So the first bodies are likely to appear out of the icefall at around year 2120. Besides the ice is over 100m thick, bodies do no ride on the surface, and do not stink as they are frozen (actually ground to dust before getting anywhere).
