    Hayley is much leaner than other athletes. I would like to see her get a little bigger. She's quite fast, if she gets stronger, she'll be fierce!

    Watching this again two years later. I wanted to see how much Madeiros has improved in two years. I forgot how much I liked these games without the crowd noise and can hear the effort it takes these athletes to do these events. Hearing Fraser grunt and breathing hard reminds us he is actually human. And I somehow forgot Jeffrey Adler was there. I love watching him.

    Should be bench instead of strict press to have more separation. They ran this event a couple years ago as well and that just turned into “who can deadlift the most” as well

    The thing with bench is.. you can bounce it off your chest.. and the hips can come off which is a no no. Itd be cool if they did it by powerlifting standards though..slight pause on the chest and the hips and glutes remain down.

    So much complaining and un-constructive criticism all over the comments. Makes me remember why sometimes I disappointed by the fitness community. The weightlifting community in person are some of the most supportive humans around. Congratulations to all the athletes that participated, competing is never easy.

    1:15:04 how is this a counted rep? The bar obviously bounced up from the downward motion. It is for sure a press but not strict.

    @A. Eren Filiz No they are not, and that's the tricky thing. Blue are 45lbs which is 20,4kg bar is 45 too in the US but for these two let's say it's no big deal. Yellow are 35lbs = 15,9kg instead of 15, greens are 25lbs = 11,36kg instead of 10... Small whites are 10lbs, actually 1lbs less than 5kg... So in the end guessing the total weight precisely, from the plates's color, is an absolute clusterfuck for people who are using metric system, which is actually 95+% of the world.

    As a strengthlifter (SOHP, Squat, deadlift) these numbers are pretty damn good considering their level of fatigue after previous events. Very impressive!

    I'm gonna assume "SOPH" is 'Strict Overhead Press' srengthlifting is not strict at all lmao they allow a bounce before pressing. It's pretty much the old school Olympic Clean & Press but without the clean. If it was meant to be strict then Chase Lindsey wouldn't be able to do 405lbs 💀

    I was thinking the same thing. The commentators talk a lot but the only thing they need to mention is the weight (which they sometimes do and sometimes don't) and the numbers on the front of the platforms are not posted by judges (laziness?)

    @@natvictorson valsalva is a breathing / bracing technique. She used hip momentum (common technique in powerlifting) which is a totally different thing.

    Pretty poor work here by CrossFit. They didn’t always tell us the weights that were being lifted and, especially with the men, we didn’t know what Fraser needed on his last lift to win, how much he lifted, and whether it was enough. Totally inexplicable and inexcusable.

    In my opinion strict bb press should definitely be a staple of determining strength. I don't understand why strict press isn't used in powerliftng competitions. I love the strict press.

    @@realdoomerhours by "any real competition" I assume you mean "not valid in powerlifting", i.e. deadlift hitching and whatnot, which is fine in Strongman but not powerlifting. Powerlifting is not the be all and end all

    @@alan181090 probably too heavy for them...if they did not do this with their knees, I think they do not have force to only bring it up with their quads...they risk injury for competition.

    I always thought the same thing but thats honestly a personal preference. I think a lot of these guys just prefer a more ass to grass type of squat, and theres science to back that forward knee travel is not that bad. Caving, however, different story. Cant be perfect i guess when you’re putting up that kind of weight lol

    Katrin dips on every shoulder press. Very obvious downward movement if you watch in slow motion. Should have been no rep’d for all 3 of the presses.

    They are taught and practice bailing safely out of the way of the bar (while not for pr maxs but in the lower wieght workout) and im sure due to covid social distancing

    I can only assume their bench # would be comparable considering how much upper body training they do. More technical lifts like squats are going to be lower since they don't train bb backsquat that much
