Great video as always! I like the cartridge display case idea - I need to get one of those for myself fairly soon as I've built a small shelf into my rack for these, but they're getting a bit crowded. I think you could even have your own SoundMatters spindle hole device made if you got in touch with a supplier who could put a 7.6mm drill bit on a screwdriver handle... I imagine it would be quite inexpensive.

Thanks Michael. Yes, I picked the Audio Technica case up after getting sick of them gathering dust on shelves. Great idea on the dill piece. Clearaudio are kind of ripping people off a bit with that product to be honest. I imagine it’s quite a niche market though. I wonder how high the demand would be in reality

If your record slips you need a new table. Weights usually degrade the sound or do nothing.

I got mine from eBay, I don’t think they were branded. I’ve linked to some very similar looking ones on Amazon though in the description. White plastic cards. Portugal: we’re heading there with our kids for a week this summer 🙂 (The Algarve)

I have a stylus timer but can't remember to turn it on, or if I do, to turn it off. An end of record tonearm lift is handy for some (not you or me (same table as you)). Cat deterrent?🙂

Ah yes, a timer. I’d always forget too, life is too short for that. Enjoy the music 🎶🎧

For the light, since my gear is in a rack (a garage rack), I used a LED string that is attached to the bottom of the top shelf gives me plenty of light looking down that the turntable and it's hidden away. For the tighter hole records, I haven't had one yet that is too tight to fit the spindle, so putting the record weight on it is usually enough to make it fit the spindle nicely. What I am worried with the tools to enlarge the spindle hole is how you make use it remains centered? There's a Canadian company that makes a special device to enlarge the spindle hole and it seems pretty easy to ease but still how do you make sure the enlarged hole remains centered? Those are hand made and cost a pretty penny but they're cool looking. I've looked at the AT cartridge display, it's really a nice setup. I only have one spare cartridge that is not mounted on a TT right now so it's on the Technics gauge, tucked away in a drawer away from dust (it's a Shure Whitelabel cart..)

Cool idea with the LED. I think I know the Canadian product you mean; Wooden handle and by a company called Stable 33 RPM or something. I suppose there might be a small risk you shift the position, but even I’ve done it, so long as you twist evenly with the drill, it simply shaves off a small amount around the circumference of the hole and didn’t seem to be an issue for me. I hear the concern though, for sure

@@soundmatters Yes, I think that's the company. Their products are nice and high quality but they're not cheap. So, if you have a cheaper method that works as well, why not? I'll keep those in mind for when I encounter this issue.

aren't you defeating the point of the object from keeping it dust free. I don't agree with protractors anymore I think they're nonsense. overhang yes but you want to twist the cart because of zmith is out so set your overhang to 52 degrees between the two screw slits laying about half a millimeter either side and work from there
