While Amy Lee’s sister did pass away when she was very young, this song was written by the guitarist (Ben Moody) about a family member passing away. Amy Lee wrote “Hello” about her sister, and shockingly enough, it’s even more heartbreaking than My Immortal. I highly recommend checking that one out as well. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful and it penetrates straight to your soul. She really is a one-of-a-kind talent

You live through the surgeries, the chemo and she still looks healthy and strong and in three weeks you watch the person you spent 3/4s of your life with, since childhood, die. These words capture everything and almost 7 years later she's still here even though she's just ash. Believe me Imortal is the right name.

Same. Not for a partner, but for my father, and also from cancer. He toughed it out with over-the-counter pain meds until it was already at stage four (pancreatic that spread), by then of course it was was too late to recover from. And I never really gave myself room to fully process it because "I had to be strong" for my mother. So, it still bubbles up from time to time (especially with emotional songs like this). What's even sadder, for me, is that it happened in my college years, when I was still a young, dumb kid who was "too cool" to hang out with his parents. We were just starting to connect on an adult father-son level when he was snatched away in less than a year. I recently moved back to my hometown to be closer to my mother so that never happens again.

I once went to a training session for a job. One of the women there was married to a guy that had ended up in a car wreck, and suffered brain damage such that he was reduced to the IQ of a 5 year old. She was now responsible for a full grown toddler whom she loved but could not return the love as an adult. She opened up and expressed some of the feelings she had. The conflict of love, yet angry that she was robbed of what she once had and the responsibility thrust upon her, the loneliness of it all. This song took on new meaning for me since hearing her story.

Love the Evanescence reactions. This song brings back so much memories, I get emotional everytime i hear it. I'd love for you to react to Lithium next, or Call me when you're sober.

This song always touches so deep. Cried many times to this. Yes that someone she speaking about is truly gone to another place. From an older sibling to a younger sibling who passed away at a young age from cancer. She help take care of her, wiped away her tears, sat with her when she screamed. Wish you guys would’ve talked about Emilio’s voice. Most beautiful female voice around, always hunting and always perfect. Classically trained. I beg you guys to start watching the videos on your channel even when you’re worried about getting blocked. The small screen and pausing helps. But watching Amy sing this song I had so much, as in a quite a few songs I’ve seen you react to without the videos. Love your reaction lex! ❤️❤️✌️✌️😢

My mom passed when I was 17. This was a reminder of our day to day relationship when the song first came out and it screams even louder now that she's no longer here. I wrote these lyrics on my bedroom wall when it came out (I had to use a cassette tape to record it when it came on the radio and write the lyrics before I bought the CD) and can honestly say it's still there to this day.

This song is about losing a love one through death, I believe, but trust me it can mean so much more as well. When I went through my divorce, of a 15 yr marriage, and child together, this song carried me through so much. Like I felt every ounce of that song in my body, soul, and mind. There were so many nights that this song got me through some of the loneliest of nights. Heart wrenching nights where I just wanted to die physically cause emotionally I was already dead with the pain inside me. I was so numb. This song was the only way of healing, this song and God Almighty. So this song is an out of that pain on so many differet levels. It can be for anyone's reasoning.

That's why I love lyrics like this, it could be someone who left her or it could be someone who died. It could be a lover, or a friend or a parent, it inspires many different emotions to many different people.
